ALAN LOGS ON TO HAMESH
Alan Mak (far right), donned an apron and enjoyed a cuppa with HAMESH Shedders
Havant parliamentary candidate Alan Mak called into HAMESH - the Havant Town Centre Men’s Shed, to donate logs for use in the Shed. Alan is an advocate for promoting the Men’s Shed movement in the UK, and his support at Westminster would be invaluable if elected. In discussions with Shedders, Alan was told of the need to combat loneliness and depression amongst older men, and of the companionship and comradery that association in Men’s Sheds provides to all those who join in. There is no pressure - everything is taken at personal pace to suit individual needs. So men are invited to join up and enjoy the facilities that HAMESH provides. If you want company and a cuppa or want to be in a workshop environment where you can share your skills or learn new ones? Then HAMESH is for you. Contact Chairman Stewart Burns at hamesh@postcodepublications.com or just drop in - location map and other details available on www.hamesh.co.uk HAMESH is fully funded by not-for-profit Postcode Publications, enabled by our revenue raised through advertising sales and generous corporate social responsibility support donations.

CARERS PANTO TRIP
Chauffeur driven to the Kings Theatre, treated to a pre performance party, given the best seats in the house with ice creams at the interval and finally, escorted on to the stage for a specially arranged audience with the stars of the Aladdin pantomime were all highlights of the Havant Young Carers Group VIP trip laid on by members of the Rotary Club of Havant. For the group of 12 hard working Young Carers, aged 12 to 15, the evening gave an exciting start to their Christmas with lots of loud shouts and laughter throughout the top class show. Meeting and being photographed with their favourite stars from TV and Pop, including Antony Costa from boy band Blue
(Aladdin), Hollyoaks star Marcus Patrick (Ginie) and Jade Ellis from the X Factor (Ginie ) was a real bonus. Vicky Sawyer the Group’s Supervisor in thanking The Kings Theatre and Rotary says “ This is a real big boast for the youngsters which helps them deal with the extra pressures they come under. With increasing demands on finance and resources we are more and more dependent on the support of local organisations and clubs to keep the support for our young carers going. Thanks also to the Hayling Businessmen’s Club for the loan of their mini bus for the evening.
