THE PRINCESS ROYAL IN HAVANT Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal visited the Public Service Plaza, Havant to unveil a plaque to mark the official opening, during Havant Borough Council’s Community Open Day event. The Open Day gave residents an opportunity to look around the Plaza and the numerous stands from voluntary organisations, public services, partner organisations and local business entrepreneurs. Havant’s Public Service Plaza represents a new way of partnership working to deliver public service excellence. The refurbishment of the building, completed a year ago, is now occupied by Havant Borough Council staff and partners, Hampshire County Council Children’s and Adult Services and the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB).
The scheme is recognised by Government as a model for two-tier working across county and borough councils. The development of public service hubs supported by new technology and flexible working practices enables councils to deliver savings and more joined-up public services under one roof. As well as lowering energy use and carbon footprint, it releases now surplus public buildings for sale. It offers joined up public services accessed through one central point and the open day is an opportunity for local residents and businesses to drop-in and see the facilities on offer at the Public Service Plaza, Civic Centre Road, Havant. The Plaza is Shortlisted for Design and Innovation in the 2013 RICS South East Award.

The Park is now part of the BEST Network comprising six similar technology parks throughout the United Kingdom. In terms of what the re-brand means at a local level: • Increased awareness of Havant as a major hub of business • Alignment with a nationally recognised network of science and technology parks • Alignment with a BEST Network a network that links a vibrant, inspiring and productive community of forward thinkers across the UK, sharing ideas and promoting growth and development • Businesses based at the BEST locations can benefit from using facilities at other locations • Gives businesses looking for specific space requirements the possibility of clustering in locations that specialise in their field and leveraging off this advantage.

How we Distribute our Papers
Many of readers have enjoyed receiving our newspapers at home. We are now rotating our distribution so over a period of time, as many homes as possible should receive a copy at some time. Please remember that if you don’t receive a copy, pick one up from one of the many distribution points around where you live. If you’d like to know where to pick up a copy, or if you have a suggestion for a new pick-up point near you, please email: info@postcodepublications.co.uk We are sorry that due to the intervention of a distribution company we were prevented from having our distribution bins in the larger branches of Tesco and Asda without considerable cost that would damage our fundraising efforts. However, we are pleased to say that we have resolved some of the issues by the kind intervention of Tesco, and our newspapers will again be available in the Havant and Leigh Park branches. Samller Tesco stores continue to hold copies for distribution. We are in discussions with ASDA, and hope to resolve the issues with them in the near future.

STREET PIANO ARRIVES PLAY ME: I’M YOURS!
Wow! So many offers of pianos were received it was difficult for us to decide which was the best one to use. Rob Fryer - manager of the Meridian Centre, said that he preferred a baby grand. No sooner had the piano arrived into the Meridian Centre, than up came Verity Meckliffe asking to be the first to play it. This made for a pleasent interlude in a hot afternoon, to take an iced coffee in Boswells and listen to the music played by Verity. We had no time to badge the piano which MG Imaging of 51b South Street, Havant have now done. The piano now looks very different as can be seen in this latest photo with Sarah Cargill playing. If you would like to turn up and play the piano, then please let a member of the Meridian staff know and the piano will be unlocked for you.
