— Magic Moments Carriages will offer horse-drawn rides. We are changing things up a bit and will be using the open wagon instead of the carriages to offer a different experience for festival-goers. The rides will happen all weekend from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

THE HOUSE OF THE POTTER

T

he House of the Potter opened in September, 1975 after William (Bill) Kirner, a native of Fanwood, New Jersey, converted the White Swan tavern into a Pottery Studio and Gallery. A degree in Art Education from West Virginia Wesleyan College, followed by an apprenticeship with potter, Lee Magdanz, spearheaded Bill’s desire to dedicate his passion to become a full time artist. He has continued since then to refine his stoneware and porcelain pottery and his love of painting Oils and Watercolors. The creative process has always been an intriguing pursuit that has led to the recording of original piano and guitar compositions. The Gallery has provided an excellent outlet for his personal expression to flourish. Music CDs now share the spotlight for Bill’s artistic endeavors. Friends and musicians, Jerry Funk and Ray Reade, have joined forces to create additional CDs with Funk-Kirner-Reade contemporary instrumentals.

Functional wheel thrown pottery receive the artist’s touch with hand painted dogwood blossoms, a grape motif or other attractive glaze combinations. Whimsical castles, chess sets and decorative sculptures are also created in a distinctive and unique style. Fired to 2380 degrees in a gas kiln, the pieces are all lead free, oven proof, dishwasher and microwave safe.

The local region, nature and architecture comprise the major compositions of William Kirner’s paintings. A keen sense of design and fresh use of pigments are evident in the artwork that includes Limited Edition Prints of selected original watercolors.

The House of the Potter features the work of over 50 artists and craftspeople from the U.S. and Canada. Our discerning taste dictates the fine quality of items that we showcase.

Custom framing is available for most artwork including photography and needlework. We provide design consultations to meet a variety of home and business decors.

HELPING HANDS FOR THE HOLIDAYS You can drop off your donations anytime in our front lobby, now through December 15th. This program provides toys and gifts to children from infancy to seniors in high school who are residents of the Gowanda School District.

Donations obtained will be distributed to the families during the month of December. Monetary donations should be made payable and sent to the Gowanda Lions Club, PO Box 1, Gowanda New York.

If anyone knows of a family who might benefit from this program, please contact the Police Department at 716-532-202
