Retro musical ‘Sweet

Charity’ to hit the Osceola Arts stage beginning this Friday March 10

Beginning this Friday, March 10th and running through Sunday, March 26th Sweet Charity will be live on the Osceola Arts Main Stage and will feature songs and dance moves that will bring you right back to the 1960’s. This retro musical is made its first appearance on Broadway in 1966 and was adapted into a movie musical in 1969.

With a book by Neil Simon, music by Cy Coleman and lyrics by Dorothy Fields, Sweet Charity centers around hopeless romantic Charity Hope Valentine. Her love life in the Big Apple hasn’t been a fairy tale…until maybe now? Enter Oscar, a mild-mannered accountant, who just might be the one. The production, directed by Shana Burns, features Robin Chinn as the title character and an ensemble of talented actors and dancers who bring the Bob Fosse style of choreography to life!

Tickets start at only $28, with Senior, students and group rates available. Showtimes for Sweet Charity are at 7:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays, 2pm on Sundays, and an additional 2pm matinee performance on Saturday, March 25th.

If you’re a tired of the same ol’ same ol’ when it comes to dinner events, here is something you’re going to want to experience, it’s Osceola History’s ‘Dine with the Departed’ event, and it’s coming to Rose Hill Cemetery on March 11th at 6pm.

Dinner guests will enjoy a delicious dinner, bid on silent and ‘LIVE’ auction items (punintended), and then be ‘taken’ through the cemetery on a guided lantern-lit tour where they will meet some of Osceola County’s “passed” influential residents, who will share some ‘lively’ stories about their experiences from Osceola’s history.

It’s a one-of-a -kind creative way to learn about Osceola County’s history, while supporting Osceola History’s educational programs and efforts to preserve some of Osceola County’s oldest structures, artifacts, and history!

Check Your Irrigation Timer When You ‘Spring Forward’ for Daylight Saving Time, Southwest Florida Water Management says

The Southwest Florida Water Management District is reminding residents to check the timers on their irrigation system controllers this weekend, which is the beginning of daylight saving time.

Saturday night is when we will turn our clocks ahead one hour. The time change is also a good time to make sure irrigation system timers are set correctly to ensure that the systems operate consistently with year-round water conservation measures. All 16 counties throughout the District’s boundaries are currently on year-round water conservation measures, with lawn watering limited to twice-per-week unless your city or county has a different schedule or stricter hours.

Donate cash, and maybe some hair to conquer childhood cancers at St. Baldrick’s Shave Fest

St. Baldrick isn’t really a saint. But, if you donate time, treasure — or your hair on March 11th from 4:30 to 8:30 in downtown Kissimmee, you could be like a saint to a child who is fighting cancer.

It’s St. Baldrick’s Police and Fire – ROCK THE BALD 2023 at Three Sister’s Speakeasy on Broadway and Dakin Avenue. Come feel the spirit, support the cause, and who knows, you might even decide to get your head shaved to help conquer childhood cancers.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is volunteer-powered and funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any other non-profit organization in the U.S.

We hope to see you on March 11th from 4:30 to 8:30 in downtown Kissimmee as we come together as a community to “rock the bald” and conquer childhood cancers!
