Gas prices in Florida continue to surge, upward trend expected to continue
Despite another week of lower demand for gasoline, prices at the pump continue to rise and are currently at $3.68 nationally, and $3.63 per gallon in Florida, which saw gasoline prices increase by 7 cents during the past week. The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in Osceola County is two cents higher at $3.65 per gallon.
The primary culprit for high gas prices is the price of oil increasing, which has recently risen to the mid-$70s per barrel.
“Gas demand barely budged from last week, yet compared to this time in 2022, it is higher nationwide except for the Gulf Coast, Texas, and New Mexico,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson. “Some industry experts speculate that scorching temps in that region are keeping people off the road.”
