On commemoration of 125 anniversary of the great Chicago speech of Swami Vivekananda, Sri Ramakrishna Math (Chennai) has organised Short film contest on Chicago speeches of Swami Vivekananda. The film should be with any one of the following six themes.

The immense power of youth The patriotism that India needs today The inner strength of womanhood The Indian vision for world peace Accept all views and grow in wisdom in your own way.

Film can be a combination of live action or animation in their creation.

It should have not been submitted, accepted or published elsewhere prior to this competition.

Duration of the film is 2-8 minutes.

Students excel in Math quiz

Sri Krishna Sweets in association with Sri Thiagaraja Sangeetha Vidwath Samajam organised Katrinelea programme in which Chief Guest was V.V.S.Manian.

Sri Krishna Sweets Nallor award was given to Dr. M.A.Bagirathi and M.Muthukumar Students of Velammal Vidyalaya Annexure, Std.8, Lalith Akash and Vishnu Teja won followed by music concert by G.Aditharam, Flute, Ganeshkumar, Violin, Karthik, the first prize, Shravan and Adithyan achieved the 3rd prize in Level II category.

Annual conference held

WWF-India’s One Planet Academy- A digital resource centre developed in partnership with Capgemini India organized the Chennai chapter of its annual conference on Building bridges to a sustainable future in association with School Education department, Chennai at Kumararani Meena Muthaiah Arts and science college, Adyar.

A total of 270 school students, Principals/Head Master and Teachers from Chennai Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur, Vellore districts participated in it.

During the inaugural address Radhika Suri Director, Environment Education, WWFIndia spoke on the role of education in building a sustainable future for the current and future generations.

The students today need to understand the value of environment and the biodiversity surrounding them. M. Vasu, Joint Director (NSS) who addressed the audience that comprised of National Green Corps, Eco Club and NSS students and teachers stated that they play a major role in carrying out many environmental activities like plantation, herbal gardening, kitchen gardening and campaigns on plastic waste etc.

This programme will ensure our future generation learn to live in harmony with nature and adopt sustainable practices in their everyday lives. Rajasekar, Eco Coordinator, Thankaraj, and Ravikumar National Green Corps Coordinators also witnessed the whole event.

The screening of the award winning documentary ‘Plastic Ocean’ was one of the highlights of the programme followed by a Green Career workshop for students and a training session for teachers on the 3600 approach to environment education in schools.

The Kumararani Meena Mutaiah arts and science college supported the venue during the event.
