National Fortnight for eye donation awareness meet

Lions club of central Madras, District 324 A1, Exnora Greater Chennai organised a eye donation awareness meet at Sri RKM Sarada Vidyalaya Matriculation Hr. Sec. School, T.Nagar recently to create awareness on the Need and Necessity for EYE DONATION. Jayanthimala, School Principal welcomed the gathering.

R.Govindaraj, (President of Exnora Greater Chennai) explained about the National importance on this project and distributed the handbills printed for this occasion to school staff and students.

Lion Dr. Ravishankar, Eye Doctor,Dr. Rajan, Eye Hospital, Past President, Lions Club of Central Madras addressed the students. He told there 1.20. million people who have Corneal blindness. This is caused by injury due to sharp pencil, or thorn like things to our eyes. Secondly, due to splashing of chemicals while wash basins, toilets etc.

Thirdly due to Malnutrition, Infection and Congenital/ Hereditary conditions.

He urged the young students to request their parents/relatives to motivate their relatives, friends, to donate Eyes. He told them the the steps to be taken till the medical team arrives at scene. Most importantly, first to ring up to the Eye Bank, dialling 1919, immediately as the eyes to be removed with in 5/6 hours of death. He concluded by telling that two persons will get their VISION, by one persons donation. This will help that person to improve his living conditions.

The devotees of ISKCON, Shri Hari Gopal Prabhu and his team made the campus vibrant by conducting the mega bhajan.

It was followed by kids dance from students of Std. 1and 2.

More than 3000 students performed the bhajans invoking the blessings of Lord Krishna with their devotional melodies.
