Abdul Kalam’s birth anniversary celebrated at Velammal
Students of Velammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School, (Mogappair campus) celebrated the 87th birth anniversary of Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, the former president of India, as World Students’ Day on October 15. Around 600 kids gathered to form the portrait of the Missile Man of India, Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam and paid tribute to him. Group of students from Std. 6 to 8 also paid floral tributes to him on this special occasion. The young minds were ignited through his inspiring quotes about the power of education.

The tiny tots of kindergarten and the students of primary were dressed up in their traditional attire for the festive season of Navrathri. With the theme – My Bharath, The programme was inaugurated by the lightning of lamp, chanting of slokas by the kids and the teachers. A special song and a message on the need to celebrate Navarathri were addressed by the Principal, R Pratheepa. The lobby was decorated with the dolls, arranged in the form of 7 step Kolu, Navarathri charts, streamers along with beautiful Rangoli and diyas. The 10 days programme started with a special Dandiya Dance by the primary students.
