Abdul Kalam’s birth anniversary celebrated at Velammal

Students of Velammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School, (Mogappair campus) celebrated the 87th birth anniversary of Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, the former president of India, as World Students’ Day on October 15. Around 600 kids gathered to form the portrait of the Missile Man of India, Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam and paid tribute to him. Group of students from Std. 6 to 8 also paid floral tributes to him on this special occasion. The young minds were ignited through his inspiring quotes about the power of education.

The tiny tots of kindergarten and the students of primary were dressed up in their traditional attire for the festive season of Navrathri. With the theme – My Bharath, The programme was inaugurated by the lightning of lamp, chanting of slokas by the kids and the teachers.

A special song and a message on the need to celebrate Navarathri were addressed by the Principal, R Pratheepa.

The lobby was decorated with the dolls, arranged in the form of 7 step Kolu, Navarathri charts, streamers along with beautiful Rangoli and diyas.

Senior principal participates in international conference on education

Jayanthi Rajagopalan, the Senior Principal of Velammal group of Schools attended the International conference on Education in Finland between October 7 and 12.

Around 50

administrators from schools across India also took part in this conference.

This gave an insight regarding National Board of Education, the Finnish Educational system, new curricula and future trends and educational reforms in Finland.

Special debate competition

M.B.Nirmal (Exnora International’s Founder Chairman) 75th birthday celebrated as Green Day on October 10.

The programme was started with the plantation of saplings by M.B.Nirmal and Dr.Vijayalakshmi Nirmal at Arihant Majestic Towers, Koyambedu. Exnora office bearers and members from various parts of Chennai participated the tree plantation activity.

M.B.Nirmal, said that plantation of more saplings is the need of the hour to arrest Global Warming and to have prosperity in all lives of the environment.

He urged Rajasthan Patrika to spread the message throughout and assist the people in all areas to plant and grow more trees.

He requested the people to protect the saplings from being uprooted and water the same, to enable it grow and give life to the locality.

He also requested all the people to utilize the services of small and medium traders in all the localities and urged the public to “Voluntarily Boycott Online Shoppings”, to save the families of traders of all things. He thanked Rajasthan Patrika for their efforts in connecting people from all walk of life and for their endeavors in creating awareness about our environment.

R.Govindaraj (President of Exnora Greater Chennai) said that this year will be celebrated as Green Year, in view of the 75th year of Birthday of Exnora International Founder.

He informed that more tree plantations have been planned throughout the year and to create awareness about harvesting Solar Energy, curtailing Gaseous emissions, Rain Water Harvesting to solve water scarcity, solid waste management to reduce garbage, Recycle Waste Water and reduction in usage of plastics.

L.S.M. Hasan Fizal (President of George Town Exnora) requested the people to plant more saplings in their localities and said that people can harvest their own vegetables and flowers with the kits being distributed by the government, to save our lives from dreaded environmental degradation.

A. Premalatha (Secretary of R.A.Puram Exnora) requested that we plant trees for happiness of younger generation, since trees give oxygen for our living. She said that we should plant more trees for our green environment.

S. Deepak (President of Ekkattuthangal Exnora) said that the only way to save ourselves from harmful effects of deforestation is afforestation. He said that even though people are aware about growing more plants and trees, they seldom grow, by giving excuses, which should be avoided.

In the context of the forthcoming International Disabled Day on December 3, Nandini Voice for The Deprived, a Chennai based NGO, is organizing a special debate competition on the topic “My vision, issues and hope” for visually impaired persons on November 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Adyar.

The objective of organizing the debate is to give an opportunity to the visually impaired persons to speak out their mind and also enable the people to understand and appreciate the aspirations and hopes of the visually impaired persons.

All visually impaired persons, irrespective of age and educational level can participate in the debate. They can speak in Tamil or English for maximum period of ten minutes.

Five awards would be presented to the best performers and all the other participants would be provided consolation prize.

Since visually impaired persons will not be able to read this message, it is requested that the readers may kindly convey the information to the visually impaired persons known to them and encourage them to participate in the debate.

World food day celebrated at Velammal

Junior Red Cross students of Velammal Main school, (Mogappair campus) celebrated World Food Day on October 16. .

The guest of honour Kasturi, Food safety officer, Tamil Nadu Food and Drugs Administration Department, Tiruvallur district brought out the importance of consuming healthy food.

The concept of the programme was based on food pyramid to emphasize the importance of balanced diet. She pointed out the ill – effects of junk food and advised the students to consume healthy food.

Food safety awareness pamphlets were distributed to the students.

She also stressed on the importance of brain food and the influence of adulterated food.

There was a lively interaction between the guest and the students regarding the negative impacts of street food.
