Precautions to enjoy joyful Diwali Diwali, the festival of colour and joy is the time of the year when family members get together to celebrate. Sweets and crackers are the main attractions of Diwali. However, all of us need to take some precautions to avoid any untoward incident on the festive occasion while firing crackers. Here are some tips to keep you safe and at the same time not loose on the enjoyment on the Diwali day. Children should have elders around them when they burst crackers Avoid bursting crackers in veranda and roof tops. Always, burst fire crackers in the open Do not hold fire crackers in your hands and burst them Keep crackers at safe distance before igniting them Keep a bucket of water or sand nearby just in case of need If a fire cracker fails to burst, do not go close to it or try to burst it again Put all burnt flower pots, chakras and sparkles in a bucket of water or in a corner where nobody ventures If there is injury to the hand or the eyes, then immediately wash with plenty of water, even tap water would do in times of emergency like this Consult a doctor immediately and do not apply any native medications to the eye Do not attempt self medications since cracker injuries in the eye are due to the impact of the burst as well as the chemicals falling in the eye. So, appropriate medications have to be used which the doctor is the best person to prescribe and advice It is prudent to follow these precautions so that all of us enjoy a safe and joyful Diwali this year.
