Alpha Arts and Science College participated in the Cultural Fest of District Rotaract Council

Velammal Vidyalaya, Alapakkam celebrated the 1st Annual day celebrations on Feb 2 in its school premises. The guest of honour Udaya Shankar, Regional Lead of Nasscom, motivated the students and insisted them for an holistic development. Prem kumar (Actor) advised the students to focus on education and extra - curricular activities. The prize winners were honoured by the chief guests. The wide varied range of culturals impressed everyone and it was a great feast to the eyes.

Essay competition for school and college students

Rotaract Club of Viswaitha along with 11 other clubs celebrated the grand event “The IX -Oceans ‘’, the cultural fest of the Rotaract Council 3232 on Jan 27 at Santhome Hr. Sec. School. The Celebrations are with a good motto of service mission in which the funds were raised for the welfare of the Differently challenged children. The event started with the invocation song Tamil Thai Vazhtthu followed by the lightning of the lamp by the Chief dignitaries on the Dias. As a part of the Rotaract event the collaring of the 11 clubs, were honored by the respective Club sergeants of Arms to their respective Club Presidents namely Rotaract club of Alpha Arts and Science College, Rotaract Club of D. R.B. C. C. College, New College, Shri Krishnaswamy College for Women, Chellammal College, Cresent University, MD. Sathak college of Engineering, M. G. R. Janaki College , Nazarath College for Women, Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering , Bakthavatchalam College etc.,. The Chief Guest for the Day was Rtn. J. Sridhar of District Rotary Council 3232, District Governor Nomminee, Rtn. Rajagopal, President from the Rotarary of Madras Industrial City. The other dignitaries were Ashwin celebrity of the movie Manghatha, Rio – From Vijay TV etc., The Programme was the highlight for the entire district Rotaractors to exhibit their talents on the platform given to them to raise funds for the good cause. The programme came to an end with the distribution of certificates and acknowledging the sponsors. The gathering of 3000 Rotaractors were filled for the occasion. Finally, it was a peace full celebration with the National Anthem.

Nandini Voice for The Deprived, a Chennai based NGO is organising an essay competition for students in Tamil Nadu on “ Is it appropriate for teachers to go on strike”? All school and college students in Tamil Nadu can participate in the essay competition. Essay can be written in English or Tamil and should be maximum of 1500 words. Last date for receipt of the essay is Feb 21. Best of five entries will be awarded prize.
