Heartfulness centre celebrated Women’s Day

Women, normally perceived to be sweet or soft, can express ‘anger’ too. For, a woman to let her guard down will mean true liberation. The days of this gender being considered as eternal givers or embodiment of patience are over.

These observations were

made by her as a chief guest at the Heartfulness Centre, Manapakkam, on March 8 to mark the International Women’s Day celebrations.

Speaking on the theme of Balance for Better, she sought to highlight that women should be as human as men and be allowed to express themselves

freely, in a natural way.

Her empowerment should not impact the society and civilization.

She also spoke about child abuse, which is on the rise today due to the gender stereotypical behaviour.

Inculcated in the children by parents at a young age, the abuse aggravates

due to the societal norms, she pointed out, citing examples of the two Nobel prize winners Nadiya Murad and Denis Mukwege Mukengere (peace prize winners for 2018).

proceedings of the event, that saw the rendition of a fusion song ‘acham acham illai,’ by children and a group of women.

International Women’s Day was celebrated at Thakkar Bapa Vidyalaya along with the inauguration of Multi thematic exhibition of budding stars of Thakkar Baba Nursery, Primary school and Industrial Training Centre and also Valedictory of year long 150th birth anniversary celebrations of KasturBa and honouring resource persons.

The chief guest, Shika Sanyal(Secretary, West Bengal Harijan Sevak Sangh and Secretary, All India Women’s Conference Howrah) was spoke about the importance of economic liberation for elevation of women.

Prema Cariappa (Former member of parliament, former chairperson, Central social welfare board) was inaugurated the multi thematic exhibition.

She said that women have entered all fields and that determination was a must to reach goals. Kusum Jauhari (Secretary of Sarvodaya ashram ,Hardoi ,UP) spoke about the necessity of women to keep progressing continuously and she appealed to everyone to contribute for this purpose. Prema , Gandhi study centre in her speech mentioned that Kasturba was the inspiration to Gandhi and reminded everyone that history was very relevant and important.

Usha welcomed the gathering and Lavanya (Tailoring Instructor) proposed the Vote Sri Krishna Sweets, Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan and Chennai Kamban Kazhagam of thanks. organised Kambanil Azhaam Kanda Vezhaam programme in Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore.

R. Veerappan was the chief guest. Tamil Nidhi Award was given to Dr.M.Balu.
