Veerapandian (Writer and President of Dravida Iyakka Thamizhar Peravai) gave a talk in 裬ô 9.20 ñE‚° CøŠ¹ ÜH«ûè‹ Ýó£î¬ùèœ Tamil on ‘Mattram Ondre Maarathathu’ in a function conducted on Nov.19 in Dr. MGR School 裬ô 9.59 ñE‚° ñý£ bð£ó£î¬ù. for speech and hearing impaired, Ramapuram. 裬ô 10.15 ñE‚° Hóê£î‹ õöƒ°î™.

It was organized by Rotary Club of Madras (Porur) in association with Rotary Club of Anna ܬùõ¼‹ õ¼è.

Vijayalakshmi (resident of LIG Flats, 7th Avenue, Ashok Nagar) prepares a health mix with millets like ‘varagu’, ‘thinai’, ‘samai’, ‘kuthiraivaali’, ‘kambu’, ‘cholam’ etc.

The mix can be used to make porridge for breakfast. ‘Dosai’ and ‘adai’ can also be prepared using the mix.

Before starting this venture, Vijayalakshmi attended a training program on millet products conducted by Tamilnadu Agriculture University Information & Training Centre.

She exhibits her product in ‘can bazaar’ in which women entrepreneurs sell their products.

‘Can Bazaar’ is being organized in select branches of canara bank.

“Micro-millets are God’s gift for diabetics and they are hypertension friendly too,” she said.

ondary school, KK.Nagar) was presented Bharat Ratna Dr. MGR Award by Kavignar Piraisoodan for her best singing in MGR Nootrandu vizha function held recently in Dr. MGR Janaki School, Saligramam, Chennai.

The function was organized by Tamilnadu Thiraippada Nanbargal Peravai(TTNP) in association with Chinnakkuyilgal Children Orchestra.

Kavignar Piraisoodan participated in the function as guest of honour and distributed aids and appliances to differently abled.

He also awarded Bharat Ratna Dr. MGR Awards to eminent personalities from various fields.

Five pillars of humanity Service in diversity “Assume responsibilities on more than one level and in more than one way” Every Individual has a responsibility to serve the society we live in.

There is only one home, the Earth, and only one family, all who dwell therein. Our family includes fellow human beings, all the animals, plants, and microorganisms on this planet.

Our service to the society should be wholesome and diverse to support the diversity in the living organisms.

We, the Human beings, create the kind of society we live in through our daily actions. * I have my efforts directed towards: * Maintaining Zero Waste * Promote Green Revolution * Canvassing Healthy living * Spreading Happiness * Love & care towards Animal Welfare According to me, The Natural Resources, Greener surrounding, Healthy life style, Happiness and Love to all living creatures are the Five Pillars of Humanity.

I sincerely feel, every one of us, is obliged to make a little contribution towards each of Aparajita Ramesh these elements to make our world a healthy and harmonious place to live in.

As all living beings are inter dependent, we cannot give our attention to just one cause and ignore other aspects of our Bio diversity.

We, being part of the Eco system, must respect it and support the survival of plants and animals too.

To achieve a balanced, healthy and harmonious living, we must make a wholesome contribution to each of these elements Herein below, I share my line of thoughts on how we could contribute to each of these elements: -

Zero Waste

More than managing the waste, prevention of waste has assumed significance in this time.

Our landfills are getting exhausted. There is a real need to avoid generating waste at home, where every individual can make a little effort towards it.

For example, Kitchen waste could be converted as manure through composting. The manure, we can use to maintain small plants at home, which besides adding beauty, makes our home breathable, by increasing the amount of oxygen in the air through photosynthesis.

They can also filter and purify the air and remove toxins from the air.

This is a small way, through which, each one of us, can contribute to eliminate the generation of waste.

Green revolution

Our attention is required in maintaining a Green Environment. Because of deforestation and loss of green vegetation, we are affected by Global Warming.

“Trees are my guru. They continue to give unconditionally even when you pelt them with stones to take their fruit & even if you cut them down. Trees give life. Let’s reciprocate that. Plant more trees” said our Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

Trees are a lovely creation of the Lord and an embodiment of unconditional love.

Each one of us can make a pledge to plant a tree and take care of it, in our life time. It is easily possible to plant only one tree in a life time.

We have in our midst, Brother Abdul Ghani, who has planted close to 40 lakh trees by himself and few lakhs more as part of the Green Kalam initiative.

We must draw inspiration from his selfless acts and do our bit.

So, Friends, let’s not wait for someone else to do it.

Let us do it ourselves. We must encourage our friends and relatives to Plant a tree for our planet.

This is the least, we can do, to support our Mother Earth.

Let and live a Healthy Life

Health is vital for our living. Where there is healthy mind and body, there is harmony and peace.

Everyone, besides maintaining a healthy life, should make an effort to campaign and spread the message of being healthy.

Human behaviour plays a central role in the maintenance of health, and the prevention of disease.

I believe that inner happiness lies in giving more, not taking more. Giving is indeed receiving.

When we give, we increase our sense of connection and feeling of oneness with all the people and all things. Sharing positive news with co-workers can turn in to increased productivity and happier workplace.

A simple act of smile can make, the world of difference, in one’s life.

“Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing” – said our Mother Teresa. Happiness never decreases by being shared, said Buddha Please, we have the responsibility to spread happiness among the human beings. It can start with a smile to the security guard at home or work place, the Tea boy, the Grocery man and the chain goes on. It does not take any effort. Just a simple smile from your heart, is what it all requires.

Animal Welfare Animals are a wonderful part of our lives. They bring us joy Mahatma Gandhi observed “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”
