The Knowledge Programme

What is it?

Welcome to ‘The Knowledge’, part of our GATE (Gifted, Able and Talented Enrichment) programme offering academic stretch and challenge at Portsmouth High Senior School. If you love learning and setting yourself high academic standards, these lectures and workshops will be invaluable.

Who is it for?

Anyone is welcome to attend, but the events will be especially useful if you are aiming for top universities, including Oxbridge. All academic scholars are expected to attend.

When does it start?

Events start during the autumn term and will take place during Period 1 on Wednesdays.

Other challenge opportunities

Drama Scholars

Take part in ‘Les Misérables’ in April 2025 as either a performer or as part of the Tech Crew. Rehearsals are Tuesdays and Thursdays 3.50 - 5pm.

Lunchtime Drama Scholars Club on Fridays. This will include working towards a performance during the autumn term and taking part in the ESU Performing Shakespeare competition in the spring term.

Music Scholars

Two Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra concerts held at Portsmouth Guildhall on Thursday 5 December 2024 and Friday 21 March 2025.

Year 13 scholars invited to perform as soloists in the Gala Concert on Tuesday 11 February 2025.

Scholars and Leavers Concert on Tuesday 29 April 2025.

In addition to these, scholars are encouraged to participate in the many concerts and events held throughout the year – Atrium Concerts, Autumn and Summer Concerts, Carol Service, House Music, Les Misérables, and Sicily trip.

Art Scholars
