Dear Portledge Community, Welcome to the 2022 Portledge School Gala! It is with great pleasure that I join you all in this fantastic evening of celebration, support, and philanthropy.

This annual soiree is Portledge's cornerstone fundraising event of the year and serves to directly benefit the student experience at Portledge and impact every student on our campus. Each year, I stand in awe of this event as it brings such a palpable feeling of community as we all come together to enjoy good food, unmatched fun, and great friendship. And perhaps this year, this sentiment serves even more true as we honor and celebrate two of our most beloved administrators, Susan Edwards-Bourdrez & Harry Grzelewski.

It is important to note that this year, your generous support will also help drive our upcoming Strategic Plan - Building. Learning. Leading. This ambitious three-year plan will have wide-ranging and positive effects on our school and community. The goals and strategies set forth reflect the feedback and priorities identified by all community sectors and remain true to our founding philosophies and our collective goal -- providing an exceptional educational experience to our students. Building. Learning.

Leading. will serve as the foundation of our work and a barometer of our success over the next three years.

Of course, tonight could not happen without the dedication and boundless energy of our Benefit Committee, headed by Tiffany Palagonia and Mona Sanveren. This dynamic duo worked tirelessly alongside the Development Team of Tara Askeland, Kelly Walles, and Jane Zisa, as well as the entire Gala Committee (Lindsey Barnett, Lauren Bier, Beth Blake Day, Jessica Chitty, Jill Drucker, Franki Doshi, Wendy Fentress, Jami Friedman, Linda Gulotta, Christine Kasper, Elina Kugel, Nadia Markovic, Vera Jain, Tiffany Terranova, Pooja Skogstad, and Emily Wachtel). This evening does not just happen magically - it requires a lot of planning, time, effort, and even some cajoling, so my sincere thank you!

Ultimately, the success of this evening lies with you - the Portledge community. Regardless of your role, your presence here tonight already speaks volumes about your commitment to helping make Portledge the best it can be. I implore you to build upon that generosity this evening, as it all helps to substantially move the dial forward.

If I may ask two things of you this evening. Firstly, please enjoy yourselves.

Enjoy the camaraderie, enjoy the music, enjoy the food and revel in the fact that you made such a fantastic choice in entrusting your child's education to our great school. Secondly... don't be afraid to dig deep!

Dear Portledge Community, Spring has arrived. After two years of COVID hiatus, we are back to an in-person experience we all crave. This sentiment is apparent in the number of attendees, sponsorships and donations we have received leading up to this year’s Portledge Gala at the Crescent Beach Club on May 12th. We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and can’t wait to celebrate with all of you.

We would like to congratulate the Portledge faculty and specifically our honorees Susan Edwards-Bourdrez and Harry Grzelewski for your many contributions to Portledge School. Your fifty plus years of combined service speaks volumes and is a testament to your commitment to the school. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your leadership, steadfastness and compassion. We hope that this next chapter gives you what you have given us ten-fold.

Thank you to the other half of our team, Tara Askeland and Kelly Walles; this event would not be possible without you. Another special thank you to our amazing Gala Committee that donated their time and resources in an effort to reach our fundraising goals. Dr. Mostafavi received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in 1990. He completed his internship in general surgery at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and his orthopedic surgery residency at SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn (Downstate Medical Center). Following his residency, Dr. Mostafavi spent 12 months at R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Balti more, Maryland, completing a fellowship in orthopedic traumatology.
