HERE AND NOW CAFE (Seniors with memory loss)

THURSDAY 10-12 pm The Here & now Café will provide a weekly two-hour program for individuals with memory loss and their care takers. Recreation activities included but not limited to movement to music, morning talk and coffee, water coloring painting, crafts, cognitive game.

Gentle Chair Exercise

Wednesday 1-2 pm Exercise in your chair, perfect for any physical limitations. All equipment provided. Free for Port Jefferson Village Residents. Non-Residents $10 for session.

INTERMEDIATES ONLY / COED

PENCIL DRAWING (non- instructional)

THURSDAY 1 - 2 pm Participants bring their own supplies to draw, doodle, paint and create their own pieces during this self-guided, self-paced time. Free for Port Jefferson Village Residents. Non-Residents $10 for session.

Book Club

Wednesday 2-3 pm At 1st meeting, a book is chosen based on the group’s interest. All materials provided. Free for Port Jefferson Village Residents. Non-Residents $10 for session.

KNITTERS’ NOOK & CROCHET CORNER (non- instructional)

THURSDAY 2- 3 pm A space to knit or crochet, meet new people, and have a chat. Relax while enjoying a hobby you love. Bring your own supplies.

Beth Rothstein, Director of Senior Programs for Port Jefferson Village Center

Beth has worked in our community as a Creative Arts Specialist and Assistant Director of Therapeutic Recreation at Port Jefferson Health Care and Water's Edge Rehab and Nursing Center for 16 years. Prior to these positions she worked at St. Charles Hospital and Rehabilitation where she helped to design and implement the Recreational Therapy program on the rehabilitation unit and worked in the capacity of Assistant Supervisor. Beth has developed and facilitated many therapeutic art and recreation programs over the years to a variety of populations including Alzheimer's disease and Dementia, traumatic brain injuries, Parkinson's disease, strokes and multiple sclerosis. Beth's greatest gratification was being able to inspire, engage and brighten days with the seniors who attended and participated in her daily programs. Join Beth every Wednesday & Thursday at the Port Jefferson Village Center for Senior club programs!
