We’re looking forward to welcoming Southampton to our temporary home at Hallen AFC today.
Once again our thanks go to Lee and his team here at Hallen for making us feel at home.
It’s an exciting time for us in search of our first 3 league points still. It’s fair to say we feel we have had very positive moments and shown why we deserve to get those points, and we don’t feel that we are far away from that.
A tough week last week in the cup which we have now exited. The scoreline doesn’t reflect the performance and again there were lots of positives to take.
We know this won’t be an easy fixture against our guests today, especially with their new manager. We’re hoping our work in training has been the right preparation for this occasion and

We are looking forward to welcoming Southampton at Hallen today and seeing all the supporters once more! Hopefully we’ll get to see our famous PTLFC flag up for the first time this season.
The new pitch at Bristol Road is coming along nicely. The players and staff are looking forward to returning in the next month or so and continuing our season at what will be our new home.
We’re excited to turn our focus back to the league after our defeat away to Bournemouth in the Cup. It was a huge test for us and despite the result there are

Portishead Town Ladies were pegged back as Abingdon United came from two goals down to claim a point.
18/08/24 14:00
Abingdon started the game well and posed posset problems from the start. Amy Garrigan was called into action early on and the woodwork twice denied our visitors. Slightly against the run of play Portishead took the lead in the 25th minute, and what a goal it was Posset won possession in the left back position and played themselves out of trouble wonderfully. After working the ball into midfield Alanna Torrington picked up the ball, beat a player and unleashed an audacious effort from 30 yards out that was destined for the top corner from the moment it left her boot.
Abingdon continued to cause Portishead problems but on the stroke of half time posset broke in clinical fashion. Kelly Jones picked up the ball and played it into the left channel for Ruby Hopkins to chase. Hopkins took on her defender before firing across a perfect cross that skipper Shannon Holloway converted from close range

Abingdon started the second half well and grabbed the early goal they neededthrough Molly Lygo-Jackson - to half the deficit Chances were created at both ends; posset struck the woodwork when an Emily Nicholson cross took a deflection and almost ended up in the back of the net At the other end Garrigan made a number of good stops, but in the 78th minute Abingdon drew level, KaraMay Howes with the goal.
Either side could have won it at the end, but both had to settle for a point. Posset’s search for the first win of the season continues, but they remain unbeaten.

It was always going to be a tall order to upset the odds against AFC Bournemouth in the FA Women’s National League Plate With a 100% record in the league the Cherries have started the season strongly and are favourites for promotion for a very good reason. A controversial penalty converted by Abby Jones broke the deadlock, followed by goals from Katie James, two from Jenna Markham, Erin Bloomfield and a Chloe Gilroy hat-trick. A tough afternoon for posset, but games like this won’t define their season

Sunday 15th September
A Courtney Bean finish, Maisy Ruffle quick, passing football you’d forgiven for thinking this was a match report from last season. But despite a host of new faces, the Ladies Reserves’ brand of football proved unchanged, in today’s 11-0 victory against newly relegated Middlezoy.
Posset started quickly when, in the opening five, McGill’s kick was seamlessly converted by Ella Howes: 1-0. Shortly after, Howes would make it 2-0, clinically finishing a delicately placed Em Ashwin through ball.
A freshly substituted Ruffle popped in the third, the ball
falling to her feet in the box after a Courtney Bean cross was knocked on by Kevie Jones. Seren ‘the poacher’ Tucker would make it four, pressuring the keeper and poking the ball home. Two more quick goals before half time: a cut back pass from Jones slid into the net by Tucker, and a cool Bean finish from the penalty spot, brought the girls off positive, but not satisfied.
second half saw the ove more easily, but the cubated slowly. Finally, Trounce found Tucker, who completed the first hat trick of the game with a smooth finish. Portishead quickly took control of the half, and a lovely cut back ball from Howes out wide was converted by Ruffle - 8-0.
The ball then soared arrogantly into the top corner from range; Ruffle signing off on her hat trick, seconds before being substituted. For 10-0, Hannah Sheehan cut the ball past her player and textbooked it past the keeper, and we finished with Howes’ third of the game; Jones holding off her opponent to play
in the sixteen year old.
After a tough game last week, today saw the Reserves harvest the seeds sown in preseason, with a hat trick of hat tricks, and a deserved man of the match for youngster Seren Tucker, who found opportunities on the pitch wherever she moved.

Portishead were inaugurated early in the 1900's by Molly Jukes, the daughter of a local rector, who had moved to Portishead in 1903 Always keen on sport , Molly formed a cricket side in 1910 and two years later a football team she called St. Peter's Portishead. Initially there were two teams, a first XI and a Reserves and a year later a junior side was formed In 1915 Molly married the Rev H S Briggs but her interest and devotion to 'the lads' didn't waver and despite the intervention of two World Wars she battled on as Chairman, Treasurer and Manager, as well as playing in goal as often as she could.
In the early 1950's Molly stepped down and Portishead AFC, as the club were now knownfollowing a name change in 1948 - was left in the hands of Len Pickering and Eddie Clapson
Having previously had a Ladies team, Portishead Town resurrected the Ladies section in 2011.
The team was to be led by Chip Wright and were elected to join Somerset County Women’s League After initially struggling, the 2015/2016 season saw the team achieving a league and cup double, beating Staplegrove in the final 2-0
The 2016/17 season followed on from the previous year with a league and cup double once again, this time beating Penn Mill 4-3 in a thrilling final This led to promotion to South West Regional Women’s Football League (Eastern Division) for the 2017/18 season
Somerset County Women's League
Division 1 Winners: 2015-16, 2016-17
Division 1 Runners-up: 2013-14
Division 2 Winners: 2017-18 (reserves)
Somerset County Women's League Cup Winners: 2015-16, 2016-17
A second promotion in a row was achieved the following season with Portishead then competing in the South West Women’s Football League (Premier Division) Three seasons followed in the Premier League, with two seasons interrupted by COVID and neither fully completed
Two successful FA Cup runs, including reaching the 1st round proper in 2019/20, finally losing to Southampton Women, helped with the promotion to the FA National Women’s League South West, the fourth tier of the Ladies pyramid, for the 2021/22 season, where they finished 8th
This was bettered in 2022/23 when they finished in 7th position, but the highlight of the season was the club's FA Cup run For the first time in their history they reached the 3rd round proper, eventually succumbing to Ipswich Town
The Ladies’ Reserves team compete in the Somerset County Women’s League Division One For the 2023/24 season a third team, the Ladies Thirds, has been formed and will compete in Somerset County Women's League Division

Southampton Women's Football Club was established in 1970, making us both the oldest and most successful women's team in Southampton, winning the Women's FA Cup eight times between 1971 and 1982.
Southampton Women's FC is now a completely renovated club with two senior sides and a flourishing youth development programme
As Hampshire League Champions at the end of the 2015/16 season, the club was promoted to the Southern Region Premier League where the team achieved the league and cup double the 2016/17 season and had successful cup runs in the County Cup and FA Cup
Back to back promotion for the Firsts meant promotion to the formerly named FA Women's Premier League in 2017-18, whilst the Reserves won the Hampshire County Women's League Division 1 as undefeated champions and moved into the Southern Region The first under-16s team were league runners-up too.
The team is in their eighth season in Tier 4 now known as the FA Women’s National League Division One South West. Southampton narrowly missed out on promotion to the Southern Premier in their first two seasons in Division One South West.
In 2022 the club began a rebrand through a collaboration with Kit and Bone that started with a new badge before the launch of the “Sirens” nickname to help differentiate themselves from Southampton FC Women, “Saints”.
Their most recent honour came in April 2023 when they lifted to Southampton Divisional FA Cup winning on penalties against Eastleigh in the Community
They have recently undergone a change in management with ex-First Team manager Aaron Smith rejoining the club as Chairman and James Lally appointed to lead the Sirens as First Team manager. The team has many new faces this season, and are on an upwards climb to retain Tier 4 status
