BABYLONE In its Babylone, Christofle has teamed up with the artist Aurélie Bidermann to create sparkling silver tableware, decorative pieces, and jewellery. Its new Babylone Collection is characterised by sumptuous yet streamlined curves inspired by plump, brioche-style braids, as well as classic and minimalist designs. A reinvented legend, with eye-catching lustre.

CHRISTOFLE
Designed by Aurélie Bidermann, the Babylone Collection incorporates all the values that Christofle holds dear: a sophisticated "art de vivre" bridging classicism and modernity, the expertise of France's greatest silversmiths, and traditional heritage co-existing with an appetite for the future. Highlighted by contrasting shapes and lines, the collection is distinguished by the minimalist designs and functionality of the Art Deco movement, which first saw the light of day more than a century ago in Paris.

A braided design - evoking the soft and silky feel of a petal and the luscious round curves of a coffee bean - becomes the base for different sized bowls and a striking centerpiece with a tapered silhouette. The look and feel of this gentle decorative design contrast beautifully with the smooth, silver-plated metal of the collection's napkin ring, metal cup and candleholder.

FLUEN LUMINEA Soft, flowing shape transitions characterise the FLUEN collection by the Swiss designer Alfredo Häberli. This natural design language is continued in the biophilic pattern LUMINEA. Abstract ginkgo leaves in delicate shades of green and champagne with a metallic finish accentuate the softly curved porcelain.

DATUM 'TO GO' THERMO MUG
SCAN FOR DETAILS
Made entirely of porcelain, the doublewalled DATUM to-go thermo mug is the first of its kind from FÜRSTENBERG. With a body thickness of just 2.5mm, the cup is unexpectedly light. The doublewalled design of the to-go thermo mug keep coffee and tea hotter for longer. In addition to the glazed white and the satin-finished version in matt white, the to-go thermo mug is now realised with a modern pattern in red, blue or grey. The design, like DATUM itself, comes from Foster + Partners, and is an allusion to the company's own architecture.

SGRAFFITO ARTBREAK! A design that amazes. A pattern technique that blends the traditional and the modern. A collection that can be combined in many ways. This range of items and giftware is the result of an innovative manufacturing process, with items produced largely by hand and with great attention to detail. SGRAFFITO ARTBREAK! breaks down familiar usage stereotypes and encourages creative mixing and matching.
TOUCHĖ: TIGER RELIEF The Touché series consists of three different shapes: a small mug for espresso, a large mug for coffee or cocktails, and a bowl for tea and hot chocolate. There's also matching white saucers and a breakfast plate to complete the collection. Made of razor-thin manufacturer's porcelain, the handle-less mugs feature a particularly smooth feel and a special thermal effect from the double-walled design. The Zodiaque collection is now completed with the 12th sign of the Chinese zodiac: the tiger.

LES DÉPAREILLÉES Gien presents this version of the Vies d'Orient pattern in Les Dépareillées blue collection. Orientalism in the 19th century owed its rise to the Romantic aesthetic movement, which glorified a distant and often fantasised Orient. The Vues d'Orient service created in 1876 was part of this trend, which was very much in vogue at the time.

“How was ABASK born and
“What makes ABASK unique
Tom's move into homewares was inspired by his experience of decorating his Los Angeles home with the interior designer, Pamela Shamshiri. He was involved in finalising the "smalls" - the final details that range from blankets to drinking glasses - because he believes in the impact that specific objects can have on the way you feel. t he found it difficult to find pieces that he felt were interesting, and that was the seed for ABASK.
We deliver an edit of rare, exclusive and unique pieces which subscribe to the aforementioned style pillars in our various rooms. This means that we can be a one stop shop for your Aspen lodge to your New York loft.
where did you join the journey?
I joined at the start, just after Tom and Nicolas' (co-founders) conceptualisation of ABASK and just before the first round of sourcing and buying took place, helping to define the four style aesthetics: Bohemian, Classic, Modernist and Minimalist. I sourced global and local makers, visiting their ateliers and workshops to launch the initial rooms - The Dining Room, The Bar, the Study and the Games Room - in which our products are arranged.
in the world of luxury home interiors?
We work with a variety of global artisans: makers known for producing iconic design objects that are modern heirlooms, such as NasonMoretti, Venini and Carl Auböch to lesser known ones who we might carry exclusively and who create a single-focus product. At ABASK, our customers always enjoy a sense of discovery and are able to cherish the design provenance of one-of-a-kind pieces and the stories which accompany them.
“You have a very specific
ethos and aesthetic, how do you curate your collections? Our starting point is our four aesthetics, and then we imagine
those spaces and the products that would sing in those particular settings. We shoot every product in a lifestyle or editorial setting in our own in-house studio. We work with stylists and photographers to create inspirational images that show the versatility of our products. We also love playing with the 'soloscape' concept, for example, so we are constantly evolving and updating our place settings with new additions. We are also intrepid travellers who obsess about details and a particular craft from a certain region. We research the savoir-faire of this area and then visit and meet as many makers as we can.
“You have a passion for
As for Venini's Fazzoletto vase, we loved the original clear Canne stripes against the Venini opaques. And within our Antique and Vintage offer, we have been lucky enough to source an antique Venini vase signed by Fulvio Bianconi, Murano, Italy, 1950. We have worked with the new Venini colour palette to create contemporary versions of these design greats. Often these techniques have been lost over time and in some instances, a retired master comes back to share his knowledge with a new craftsman, which is exciting.
“Why have you chosen
to work with the specific brands you partner with?
exploring archive and historical pieces, what is your favourite part about rediscovering archives?
We are committed to celebrating the craft of each individual maker, constantly discovering new talent and sharing the specific stories of their product evolution and skills.
We like to challenge our makers to revisit designs that were lost or never made. And it's interesting to see how a design is revived in a different time and cultural context. We have worked with the NasonMoretti archive on about 25 products, selecting and tweaking designs from the 1930s to 1980s. Focussed around the bar, the range includes the iconic 1960s champagne coupe which flips to become a flute. And the soon to be realised, boat tumbler, that rocks like the motion of the sea.
Some partners are eight-generation makers and some are dedicated to working with the finest materials to create future heirlooms. Giobagnara works with a nod to Giorgio Bagnara's family's Genoese leathermaking traditions from 1939. The leather houses, Giobagnara, Rabitti 1969 and Riviere all employ hand stitching and modern technologies to achieve artisanal excellence and great precision. ABASK work with over 200 dyed leathers to create bespoke and exclusive combinations.
Take the Majong Games set for example, cherished in Chinese culture for its associations with power, royalty and prosperity in the brightest canary yellow.
“What do you look for in
a brand when it comes to producing custom and bespoke pieces? We adhere to our aesthetic, yet bring something which reflects the brand's history that we can redefine in a new context. Working with Haviland & Parlon, we have re-developed an archived design called 'Art Persan' based on a design inspired by a 17th century Persian tapestry that was reproduced for the Topkani Palace Museum. It's a historic design which can be paired with the simple Lexington in emerald green or amplified with a print-play and a touch of gold for the purest of Bohemians.
“W here can we see you next?
We are making our physical debut at New York's Salon Art + Design fair this autumn where we will highlight exclusive pieces from world-renowned makers who include Osanna Visconti, Carl Auböch and Lobmeyr as well as celebrating our first anniversary in November 2023. abask.com

TOLOMEO In celebration of its 100th anniversary, NasonMoretti celebrates its historic stemware production with a modern, autobiographical collection. Tolomeo goblets tell the story of the legacy of the series that allowed NasonMoretti's table to become a symbol of excellence. The design, in the transparent coloration, is complementary to the tumblers of the Idra collection, and enhances its service with red wine, white wine and flute sizes, replicating the same textures - lens, balloton, torsè, optical, optical torsè and rigadin.

ISSEY & JELLYFISH by Matteo Zorzenoni
Issey and Jellyfish celebrate technique, innovation and the one hundred years of history of NasonMoretti; interpreted by the curious and creative mind of the Venetian designer Matteo Zorzenoni.

One hundred years of NasonMoretti
The exhibition is a triumph of colour; two wave-shaped display structures welcome visitors into a bright and spacious total white environment where 400 models are on display - including prototypes and series produced from the 1920s to the present day. The sinuous shape of the display guides the viewer into the first room, and a journey through a timeline describing the milestones of the Nason family's business. On the shelves, the iconic tableware products from the 1930s to the 1970s, the plates and technical paper drawings, restored by expert hands.
40 NASONMORETTI
T he company tells its story through an immersive journey of colours, the sparkling of glass and the historical pieces that have determined its success, at an exhibition hosted at the Museo del Vetro in Venice.
As the journey continues, the viewer encounters specific niches dedicated to the Compasso d'Oro, won by NasonMoretti back in 1955, with the Lidia collection. This was the springboard which allowed the company to achieve international fame, and the iconic "1923" table lamp, with its original and creative design, revealing a strongly modern soul right from the first years of activity.

Lena Cottray talks to us about the importance of decorative accessories in an interior design project and how to create unique spaces.
Decorative accessories are the final layer of a project that are so key in taking a space from a concept to an actually liveable space with personality. Whether it's decorative accessories that have been specifically bought or chosen for the project or whether it's incorporating the clients own accessories that have memories of their own, decor adds an element of homeliness and comfort. Another way to think of it is also like adding beautiful jewellery or a swipe of lipstick once you've put your outfit together it's that final missing element that ties everything together.
“Lena, congratulations on recently founding Studio Cottray, tell us about your career journey and how you founded your own agency? Thank you! It's been an exciting journey and to be honest an
52 IN CONVERSATION...
adventure I wasn't sure I was going to take! I've been working in the interior design industry in London for the past 10 years, starting in restaurant and bar design to then moving into high-end hospitality and residential design. With my experience and a few projects lined up I decided to give it a go and see what happens, so stay tuned!
“How do you approach creating your spaces? I always begin a project by meeting the client and ideally visiting the space, where I can begin to form an understanding of the requirements and desired end result. Understanding the brief with its architecture and design style is just as important as understanding the client themselves; how they wish to use the space, how they like to live and ultimately the desired feeling of
the space that they wish to achieve. Following that the fun part begins where I am able to create concepts where I explore layouts, moods and go on the hunt for sourcing furniture and objects. I believe that there should be an open and explorative dialogue between myself and the client as their vision and comfort is ultimately what I want to address and attain.
“How do you reflect the
personality of your clients in your projects? It is really important to get to know the client from the start and understand what their interests are. Asking lots of questions and getting them to send across any images of things they like are key to see what styles and things they gravitate to. From there, I am then able to go out and source items that I can introduce
into the spaces that may reflect their personality traits which could be anything from an interest in a particular hobby, a favourite colour or style or something that the client simply loves. The ultimate goal and honestly one of the best feedback you can receive is when your client says 'this feels so much like me!', then I know I've done a good job.
“How important are
decorative accessories in your work? Very important. When designing a space, I always of course start with the bigger items such as furniture and art, but thinking about how I would dress the space alongside these pieces is never far behind in the thought process. Decorative accessories are something I always remind my client to not forget about or skimp on, it really makes or breaks a space and should never feel like an afterthought.
“W here do you source your
products from?
All over the place! I am a big fan of both going out and visiting shops, craftsmen and trade shows where I stumble upon new brands or suppliers. I am also a huge fan of visiting markets, but casual flea markets to more high-end markets. I also can't deny the power of the internet and social media platforms like Instagram where you also come across makers and brands - my
saved folder with images or names of items that I would like to one day incorporate into my projects is endless! Similarly depending where the projects are based, I also like to incorporate pieces that are local to the place, giving it a more grounded feel.
“What makes your style
unique?
I had quite a nomadic upbringing moving around Asia, the Middle East and Europe as a child so I've always seen and experienced many different styles and cultures. My mum always collected things from the different places we lived in and so our home was an eclectic mix of objects which she curated in her own unique way. That skill of eye for mixing and arranging things that were of completely different style and origin definitely is in my designs and is something I always try to share with my clients. I am not personally a fan of everything matching and love playing with contrasting unique and found objects. I really like having pieces speak for themselves, and then somehow they all create a unique homogeneous look once curated together.
“How important is your relationship with artisans, craftsmen and makers?
beautiful things. Their savoir-faire and craft is such a beautiful vocation and to be able to showcase their pieces gives me great joy. It's also always a pleasure when I am able to collaborate with artisans to create something unique. I get to learn so much from them and together we can create something personal for the client / project.
“In your view, what are
the three key accessories which are fundamental to completing a project? I'm all about setting the scene and creating an inviting environment, and perhaps a little obvious accessory of choice is that I do love a good candle. The light it casts and the beautiful scent it releases is just hard to beat. Secondly creating a tablescape with beautiful glassware, dinnerware and decorative accessories to dress a table is just so fun - I love entertaining and love it even more when my clients do too! Lastly, you can't go wrong with a beautiful throw; something soft and luxurious that you can casually yet elegantly drape over a sofa, but also wrap yourself up in is just heaven! studiocottray.com

The pieces in this new series are decorated in elegant, understated blue. The idyllic scenes are framed by fine lines at the top and bottom, giving the tumblers a classical feel. On the inside, the delicate porcelain is plated with 24-carat gold. Made by hand in Germany, each tumbler is one of a kind.

Drinking tea in crystal is a wise choice. Crystal enhances the beauty of tea, a liquid that is often sipped from ceramic drinkware, but deserves to have its colour revealed. The new Apollo range can be used for every type of tea: whether light, full-bodied or grand cru, whether it is enjoyed the Western way or brewed strong as in Asia. Therefore, as with wine, Saint-Louis has designed vessels to suit various types of tea in order to best reveal their flavours. Created in collaboration with tea sommelier Lydia Gautier, the range includes 9 new objects that invite everyone to compose their own pairing of tea and crystal: the ideal tea service based on personal preferences or new discoveries.

The choice of materials: crystal and porcelain For tea tasting, Saint-Louis combines two exceptional materials: crystal and porcelain. One opaque, the other perfectly translucent, these two materials are insulating, they keep tea warm for long periods of time. Crystal adds a valuable visual dimension that is useful in tasting. In tumblers, the transparency of the crystal lends a luminosity that enhances the tea's colours and reflections. Porcelain is the most precious of ceramics. Like crystal, it is a combination of mineral materials fired at very high temperatures. Its extremely low porosity makes it possible to infuse grand crus without altering their flavours, and it will not retain flavours when tasting various teas. These two materials work their magic: the tea discreetly infuses in its porcelain frame as the water vapour settles and streams on the crystal lid. The tea's colour is revealed when sipped from the translucent tumbler. The pairing of tea and crystal makes perfect sense. Tasting becomes a hedonistic and precious experience.

An iconic and timeless Saint-Louis collection created in 1979, and heir to the emblematic Thistle collection, Apollo was chosen for its delicate aesthetic. With its Venetian ribs and iconic thistle flower shape, an inspiration that dates to 1939 at Saint-Louis, the Apollo is perfect for tea making. The Venetian ribs enhance the tea's colour. The nuances of the colour are magnified by the vibration and sparkle of crystal, which reflects and diffracts light. The soft thistle flower shape makes the tumblers especially pleasant to use when held in the palm of the hand.
