CHEROKEE STUDIOS PROJECT: MARIPOSA DESIGNS

Project Brief: You have been hired by a client to design the interiors of her new office space located on the first floor of an existing mixed use building, Cherokee Studios located in West Hollywood, California. The client owns a graphic design firm that is well known for its print, digital, and environmental work in the music and film industries. The design of the office should reflect a creative and collaborative work environment. The exterior architecture of the building must remain unchanged.

Design Statement: This design reflects the musical roots of the Cherokee Studio while still creating a naturalistic and sustainable space where work can be facilitated. Soft fabrics and vibrant color are paired to create a fun atmosphere.

MDC is what is used for most of the upholstery and wall covering through out the project. MDC Interior Solutions is 3rd party verified defined in ISO 14001 Environmental Management. Their responsibility statement includes a recycling program that reuses and recycles in both pre and post consumer waste.

Sustainable Statement: Mariposa Designs choose to participate in the LEED v4.1 Sourcing Raw Materials option by using recycled content materials, bio based products and wood products. The options listed will be sourced from three different reputable sustainable manufacturers. These sustainable decisions help impact the environment in positive ways.

I choose to use Urban Wood Goods as the reclaimed wood company. Their mission is to reuse old but stable wood from buildings that have outlived their time. The wood used is from the 1800s-1900s. The wood brings in a unique texture and grain for each one of a kind piece.

Interface is sustainability sourced and has been redesigned to be able to incorporate recycled materials in the carpet tiles. This company is third party certified by ReEntry® program
