ZONE

Port Coquitlam loves to celebrate, and our 2017 calendar highlights events and activities that take place in our city throughout the year.

If you have received City locks for your waste carts, make sure you’re using them correctly to keep bears and other wildlife away.

1

Step-by-step video and instructions: portcoquitlam.ca/lock

ZONE

3

5

1

4

Hook the curved ends of each strap under the lip of the cart on both sides of the cart, as close to the handles as possible. The final step is to slide the pin into the clasp to secure the lock.

2

5

ZONE

5

ZONE

Lay both pieces of the lock flat on top of the lid.

To remove the lock, take out the pin, push in the safety latch, and lift the lever.

3

To close the lock, place the looped end of the clasp over the hooked end of the other strap, then push down the lever. The lock should not slide. If it is too loose, unclasp it and turn the loop to the right to tighten, or to the left to loosen.

A sustainable approach

CAUTION

Proper positioning of lock

IN AREA

Don’t be a bear target! • Only put carts on the street from 5:30-7:30 am on collection day • Secure your garbage and green waste

In addition, the calendars were delivered in 100% biodegradable plastic bags. Join us in protecting our environment – recycle this calendar at the end of 2017.

Confused? Use our waste-sorting resources: Info, downloadable resources and online search tool: portcoquitlam.ca/sortitright

Free PoCo Waste-Line app: collection schedule, waste-sorting tool and more. Download it free at portcoquitlam.ca/wasteline

Are you putting these items in the right place? Plastic bags and soft plastics NEVER put them in your blue or green cart, even to hold other items. The bag and everything in it will go to the landfill. TAKE TO DEPOT: Grocery and other bags (e.g. bread, dry cleaning, salad); outer bags and wrap (e.g. tissue, flats of pop).

PUT IN GARBAGE: Garbage bags, Ziploc bags, chip bags, plasticlike compostable/biodegradable bags, bubble wrap, cling wrap, laminated packaging for bacon, etc.

Food is not garbage Food never goes in your garbage cart. All food scraps and food-soiled papers go into the green cart, along with plant and yard waste. Info: portcoquitlam.ca/greencart.
