DRY BULK From cranes, grabs, hoppers and loading shovels to weigh bridge, conveyor system and rail links, the scope and diversity of the Port of Tyne’s bulk handling equipment and the expertise of our people more than match up to the wide variety of dry bulk we handle.

From aggregates and agribulks to wood pellet and scrap metal, the Port of Tyne handles millions of tonnes of bulk cargoes every year. We are one of the market leaders in wood pellet and agribulks – and we are equipped to facilitate end-to-end logistics for all types of bulk cargoes. Our ability to handle vessels up to panamax size gives our customers significant advantages in terms of economies of scale.

Riverside Quay offers almost a kilometre of berthing with a maximum draught of 13 metres. We invest to support our customers and help them to grow, with a range of value-added services including blending, processing, storage, stock management and movement by road and rail. Shippers who have chosen the Port of Tyne include Aggregate Industries, EMR, Tynegrain, Stema Shipping, Drax Power Limited and Lynemouth Power.
