PORSCHE WILLOUGHBY - 911% PORSCHE FOR OVER 55 YEARS.
WFINALLY, the dream of our brand new “Porsche Approved and Service Centre Artarmon”, which started back in the early planning stages of 2018, when we were looking for the correct site to purchase. Little did we realise the site we finally purchased was next door to our Approved Porsche Paint Repairer at 43 Hotham Parade, Artarmon.
We started building in March 2024. Two years ago, as often happens, the size kept growing — add one floor, add another — until finally, on 16 February 2026, we opened for business. We now have two levels with hoists and our car washing area, plus Porsche Parts on both levels. Another two levels above store clients’ vehicles and our new cars prior to being prepared for Willoughby to deliver each month.
Our wonderful family of clients are not going to recognise the car park, nor the overall ambience of our spectacular Service Centre, where they will be invited to see our technicians at work from the comfort of our Porscheplatz café and lounge. No longer will they experience a lack of parking — our concierge arrival team will remove any frustrations!
Ben Drew, our Sales Operations Manager, shares his perspective on living with EVs in the real world. “They’re transformative. You learn a new, effortless rhythm — from charging habits to energy management — and seeing our team adapt in Artarmon alongside our conventional servicing is fascinating.” The Artarmon facility, with its EV-ready servicing and forward-thinking infrastructure, is central to ensuring our customers enjoy that transition without compromise. I find it hard to extract Ben from his Macan EV!
Our workshop isn’t just about routine servicing. We’ve had a track-focused customer bring in his GT3 RS for a corner balance, and using our in-house Manthey Racing tools, we were able to fine-tune it to the exact specifications required. Watching the car go from stock setup to track-optimised balance in our bays is a reminder that even in a standalone service centre, we can deliver the precision and performance our customers expect — no matter how extreme the requirements.
Walking through Artarmon today, it’s easy to get lost in the scale and detail. Yet it’s the human element — the technicians, the team, the customers, and yes, the cars themselves — that make it truly extraordinary. Our place where heritage 911s, modern EVs and track-focused RS cars have a home, all looked after by the precision of the Parts Department and our superb family of technicians. The Artarmon Service Centre is our statement of intent: Porsche Centre Willoughby is ready for today, and we’re building for everything that comes next.
Please take time to look at all the photographs of our workshop in this edition. One of my favourites is our team in their new Porsche uniforms. When you call by to see me at Willoughby, if I am at Artarmon it only takes a few minutes to return — as I do many times a day!

Built for What Comes Next
PORSCHE CENTRE WILLOUGHBY APPROVED & SERVICE CENTRE
Porsche Centre Willoughby’s new Approved & Service Centre represents a decisive step forward in how Porsche approaches aftersales. Purpose-built, meticulously planned, and designed at scale, the facility brings together customer experience, workshop capability, and future-ready infrastructure under one roof.
" Servicing should feel as considered as the cars themselves, that philosophy runs through the entire building — from how customers arrive, to how the workshop operates behind the scenes. ”
From the moment a customer arrives, the intent is clear. Vehicles are handed over via a dedicated concierge zone, while owners move directly into a refined frontof-house environment anchored by the Porscheplatz lounge. Beyond the glass, the workshop operates with precision and efficiency — visible, but never intrusive.
Behind the scenes, the numbers tell their own story.
Nearly thirty service bays across multiple levels, a fully integrated parts department, and dedicated electric vehicle infrastructure position PCW's Artarmon site as one of the most advanced Porsche service facilities in the region.
Sean Lygo - General Manager Porsche Centre Willoughby
As final fit-out elements arrive and the doors prepare to open fully, Porsche Centre Willoughby’s Artarmon site stands as a clear statement: this is servicing designed not just for today’s cars, but for everything that comes next.
A NEW BENCHMARK FOR PORSCHE
The result is a space that balances scale with refinement, supporting both current Porsche models and the brand’s exciting future.
" Our goal was to make the building feel calm and intentional, it is designed to feel like Porsche the moment you arrive. ”
Justin Jean-Baptiste - Service Manager Porsche Centre Willoughby
Architecture & Exterior
PURPOSE-BUILT, UNMISTAKABLY PORSCHE
Finished in Porsche’s contemporary architectural language, the Porsche Approved and Service Centre Artarmon presents a clean, restrained exterior defined by precision detailing rather than excess. A grey corporate palette anchors the building, while Porsche branding is integrated into the facility with clarity and confidence.
Landscaping at the front of the site softens the industrial scale of the building, screening service operations while guiding customers naturally toward the concierge arrival zone. Integrated lighting pockets within the facade will complete the exterior presentation, bringing the building to life after dark.
Designed as a standalone service destination, Porsche Approved and Service Centre Artarmon expands Porsche Centre Willoughby’s capability while elevating the customer experience. The facility separates customer-facing spaces from workshop operations, allowing each to function at its highest level.
Interior Design The Porsche Experience
WHERE FORM MEETS FUNCTION
Inside, the design language shifts from architectural scale to material tactility. Flooring, glazing, and finishes are selected to create a refined atmosphere that mirrors Porsche showroom environments, while remaining durable enough for a high-throughput service operation.
Natural light filters through the building, offering controlled views into the workshop and reinforcing a sense of transparency without compromising comfort. Offices, boardrooms, and administrative spaces are arranged to maximise efficiency while remaining visually cohesive.
" Every detail has been designed to feel deliberate. ”
Sean Lygo - General Manager Porsche Centre Willoughby
" Everything about the flow has been designed to remove friction,” says Lygo. “It’s calm, it’s intuitive, and it works. ”
Sean Lygo - General Manager Porsche Centre Willoughby
Customer Journey Parking Flow
DESIGNED TO MOVE SEAMLESSLY
The customer journey begins at the concierge driveway, where vehicles are collected by trained staff before owners move directly into the front-of-house environment. From this point on, customers interact only with spaces designed specifically for them.
Behind the scenes, the building supports this experience with carefully planned vehicle flow and logistics. Level three parking provides 43 dedicated spaces, supporting staff, customer vehicles, and operational efficiency without congestion.
" Porsche continually strives for excellence, and I believe our new Service Centre surpasses that standard. ”
Albert Howard - Assistant Service Manager Porsche Centre Willoughby
Porscheplatz & Showroom
REDEFINING YOUR SERVICE VISIT
Within Porsche Centre Willoughby’s new standalone Artarmon Service Centre, the Porscheplatz and showroom take on a role that goes well beyond traditional aftersales expectations. Rather than functioning as an adjunct to a sales showroom, this space has been conceived as the primary customer environment for one of the most advanced Porsche service facilities in the country.
Purpose-built from the outset, the Porscheplatz anchors the entire customer experience. It is where owners arrive, wait, work, and engage with the brand while their vehicles are serviced — a deliberate shift away from the utilitarian service lounges of the past. The result is an environment that treats servicing as an extension of Porsche ownership, not an interruption to it.
" This building changes what a service visit feels like. ”
Sean Lygo - General Manager Porsche Centre Willoughby
" This new workshop is a game-changer. It’s been thoughtfully designed around how technicians really work - more space, better flow, and the right tools at hand. It’s going to make a huge difference not only to the quality of work we deliver, but to the pride our team feels coming into work every day. ”
Grayham York - Workshop controller Porsche Centre Willoughby
The Engine Room - Workshop
A PURPOSE-BUILT WORKSHOP DESIGNED FOR SCALE, PRECISION AND THE FUTURE.
At the core of Porsche Centre Willoughby’s new Artarmon Service Centre is a workshop designed for scale, precision, and future capability. Spread across multiple levels, the facility brings together approximately 28 service bays, with around 19 hoists on the ground floor and nine on level one, dramatically expanding PCW’s servicing capacity. All hoists on the ground floor are now installed, with epoxy flooring and final finishes completing the operational environment. The layout prioritises workflow efficiency, clear sightlines, and seamless integration with the parts department, while controlled glazing allows customers a glimpse into the technical heart of the building without disrupting operations. Purpose-built infrastructure, including a dedicated in-ground electric vehicle service pit, ensures the workshop is equipped not just for today’s Porsche models, but for the brand’s
" It’s a purpose-built space that truly reflects Porsche standards. ”
Joshua Supnet - Workshop Controller Porsche Centre Willoughby
EV Infrastructure
DESIGNED FOR THE ELECTRIC AGE
Purpose-designed electric vehicle infrastructure positions the Artarmon Service Centre for the next generation of Porsche models. A dedicated inground EV service pit allows vehicles unsuitable for traditional hoists to be safely and efficiently serviced.
Using a platform system that lowers flush with the workshop floor, the design ensures flexibility without compromising workflow or safety — a clear signal of the facility’s long-term intent.
Parts Department
PRECISION THAT KEEPS EVERYTHING MOVING
Fully integrated into the workshop layout, the parts department has been designed to support rapid turnaround and logistical clarity. Multiple internal zones allow parts to move efficiently between storage and service bays, while remaining visually connected to the wider operation. The department is fully constructed and positioned to maintain direct visual and physical connection with the workshop floors. This proximity allows parts to move quickly from storage to service bays, reducing handling time and minimising delays. Clear zoning within the department supports everything from high -turnover service items to specialised components, ensuring technicians have immediate access to what they need.
" Efficiency behind the scenes is what makes the experience seamless. ”
Martin Schacht - Parts Manager Porsche Centre Willoughby
As a standalone service facility, Artarmon’s parts department plays a defining role in delivering on Porsche Centre Willoughby’s promise of efficiency and consistency. It may not be the most visible space in the building, but it is one of the most important — ensuring that every service visit runs exactly as it should.

You have great plans for the future and we don’t want anything to stand in your way. In our experience, the better you plan your goals the easier they are to achieve. Our solution? Porsche Guaranteed Future Value (GFV)^. Porsche GFV^ is a tailored finance program that allows you to guarantee the minimum future value^ of your Porsche Cayenne or Macan at the time of purchase, giving you peace of mind knowing the value of your vehicle is secured.
Whether you are selecting your Porsche for business or personal use, you can choose the contract term that best suits your requirements. The interest rate is fixed for the life of your loan and there are no account keeping fees. At the end of your Porsche GFV^ contract, you will enjoy the choice of three options: trade-in, retain or return.
How it works
1. Select your Porsche Cayenne or Macan model.
2. Select your preferred term from either 36 or 48 months, an annual kilometre allowance and repayment options that suit your lifestyle.
3. At the end of your chosen term, select from one of the three below end of term options:
Trade-in:
If you wish to trade-in your Porsche for a new vehicle, all you need to do is return it to your Official Porsche Centre. If the trade-in value is higher than the GFV^, you can use this equity towards your new Porsche.
Return:
All you need to do is hand your Porsche back and, if the vehicle meets the agreed kilometre and fair wear and tear requirements^, you will have no more to pay.
Retain:
If you prefer to retain your Porsche, simply let us know. Provided that you also meet the relevant payment obligations under your contract, you can purchase your vehicle outright for the GFV amount locked in at the start of the contract^. Then your vehicle is yours to keep. Or you can choose to refinance your balloon at the end of the term.
Benefits of guaranteeing your future value
Peace of mind knowing the minimum future value^ of your Porsche right from the start
A selection of three options at the end of your Porsche GFV^ contract

Maintaining your Porsche
Your Porsche is an investment in quality, so naturally you’ll want to maintain it accordingly. If you wish to return your Porsche at the end of your finance agreement, it must meet the criteria set out within the Fair Wear and Tear Guide. Your vehicle must also not exceed the pre-nominated kilometre limit (set by you, based on your anticipated usage at the beginning of your contract). For more information, the Fair Wear and Tear Guide can be downloaded by scanning the QR code below. It can also be found on porsche.com.au/PorscheGFV.

^Porsche Guaranteed Future Value has a Guaranteed Future Value (GFV) which is the minimum value of your vehicle at the end of your finance contract as determined by PFS. If you decide to return your vehicle to PFS at the end of your term, PFS will pay you the agreed GFV, which will be put against your final payment subject to fair wear and tear conditions and agreed kilometres being met. At the end of your term, you can elect to (1) trade-in; (2) return; or (3) retain the vehicle by paying the GFV owed to PFS at the end of the loan term after all repayments have been made. You will be liable for any loan contract deficit and additional charges apply if you exceed the nominated kilometre allowance and/or the vehicle is not in an acceptable condition. DESIGN ICON
911 GT3 90 F. A. PORSCHE
On 11 December 2025, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche would have turned 90. Known simply as F. A., his influence on Porsche — and modern industrial design more broadly — is difficult to overstate. To mark the occasion, Porsche has created one of the most personal Sonderwunsch projects to date: the 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche, limited to just 90 examples worldwide.
This is not a heritage exercise for nostalgia’s sake. Instead, it is a deeply considered collector’s car that reflects the design philosophy F. A. Porsche lived by: clarity of function, reduction to essentials, and timeless form.
INSPIRED BY A PERSONAL
911
The commemorative model draws its inspiration from a G-Series 911 driven by F. A. Porsche himself during the 1980s. Developed by Porsche Sonderwunsch in close collaboration with his youngest son, Mark Porsche, the car incorporates subtle personal references rather than overt branding.
One of the 90 cars has been secured by Mark Porsche, with the remaining 89 offered globally. Buyers will also take part in a highly individualised Sonderwunsch experience, allowing further personal tailoring before production begins in the second half of 2026.
TOURING-FOCUSED, PURIST AT HEART
The car is based on the 911 GT3 with Touring Package, the understated, wing-delete version favoured by purists. Power comes from the naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six, producing 375 kW (510 PS) and 450 Nm, paired with the same mechanical focus that defines the GT3 lineage.
Despite its performance credentials, discretion is key. The Touring Package’s extendable rear spoiler reinforces the car’s restrained character — a choice entirely aligned with F. A. Porsche’s design principles.
F. A. GREENMETALLIC: A COLOUR WITH MEANING
The exterior is finished in F. A. Greenmetallic, a Paint to Sample Plus colour inspired by the Oak Green metallic shade worn by F. A. Porsche’s own 911. Developed in conjunction with the Porsche family, it debuts alongside a new Paint to Sample identification badge on the A-pillar — a first for Porsche.
Exclusive Sport Classic wheels, finished in satin-gloss black, nod to historic Fuchs designs and feature centre locking and the original 1963 Porsche crest. A galvanised, gold-plated ‘90 F. A. Porsche’ badge on the front luggage grille completes the exterior.
“F. A. Greenmetallic is not a colour choice; it is a reference to memory.”
“Every detail reflects restraint, precision and clarity — the principles that shaped the original 911.”
“When you consider the function of an object, the form usually emerges by itself.”
— Ferdinand Alexander Porsche
A CABIN DEFINED BY MEMORY AND MATERIAL
Inside, the connection to F. A. Porsche becomes more intimate. The cabin combines Truffle Brown Club Leather with Chalk Beige stitching, anchored by seat centre panels trimmed in a bespoke F. A. Grid-Weave fabric.
The fabric’s five-colour pattern — black, green, truffle brown, cream and bordeaux red — is inspired by the jackets F. A. Porsche wore regularly. The material reappears in the glovebox, luggage mat and document case, creating a consistent design language throughout.
A walnut gear knob, finished in open-pore wood and engraved with F. A. Porsche’s signature, provides a tactile focal point. Each car is further identified by a gold-plated dashboard plaque bearing his signature, the original 911 silhouette and the inscription ‘One of 90’.
Even the Sport Chrono clock references history, echoing the original Chronograph 1 created for F. A. Porsche himself.
CHRONOGRAPH 1: A WATCH AS CONSIDERED AS THE CAR
Included with every car is an exclusive edition of the Porsche Design Chronograph 1, limited to 90 pieces. The watch features a black titanium case, vintage-style Super-LumiNova® with a warm patina effect, and F. A. Porsche’s initials in place of the traditional Porsche Design logo. The rotor mirrors the design and colour of the car’s wheels, while the case back is engraved with the edition number and F. A. Porsche’s
signature. A matching leather strap, colourcoordinated to the interior, is included alongside the titanium bracelet.
A MATCHING WEEKENDER — AND A SURPRISE RETURN
Completing the ownership package is a bespoke Porsche Design weekender bag, crafted in Truffle Brown leather with Chalk Beige stitching and lined with the same Grid-Weave fabric as the seats.
In a final, unexpected nod to F. A. Porsche’s design legacy, Porsche has also revived the Porsche Junior sports sled. Originally designed in the 1960s, the new carbon-fibre version is limited to 90 units, finished in F. A. Greenmetallic and trimmed in matching fabric.
A FITTING TRIBUTE
The 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche is not about spectacle or excess. It is about restraint, precision and personal meaning — qualities that defined Ferdinand Alexander Porsche’s life and work.
For collectors, it represents far more than a limited-run GT3. It is a tangible expression of the philosophy that shaped the 911 itself — one that continues to guide Porsche design to this day.
Limited to just 90 examples worldwide, the 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche showcases what is possible through the Porsche Sonderwunsch programme. European ordering opens in April 2026, with production commencing in the second half of the year following final individual configuration.
PORSCHE BRINGS BACK HISTORIC FABRICS
Porsche Revives Its Most Iconic Interior Fabrics
“These are not reproductions — they are factory-approved fabrics developed to match Porsche’s original standards in every detail.”
Iconic fabric patterns such as Pasha, tartan and Pepita are once again available in Porsche quality. Porsche has reissued these textiles, meaning that the interiors of many historic and more recent sports cars from the 356 to the 911 can be restored to their original condition. The fabrics are once again available to order from Porsche Centres, speak to our team to enquire today.
Design is a fundamental component of the Porsche legend – not only in terms of a car‘s exterior, but also the interior. Styledefining textiles such as Pepita and legendary patterns such as Pasha, tartan or pinstripes have achieved cult status. Now these iconic fabrics are available again in a range of different colours.
“By reissuing these fabrics we are closing a gap, because most customers want to restore their historic or more recent classic cars to their original condition as closely as possible," says Ulrike Lutz, Director Classic at Porsche. "It was particularly important to us in this project that we maintain our quality promise with the fabrics. Unfortunately, there are many imitations on the market that are either not at all suitable as seat fabric or lose their appearance after a short time. That's why we want to offer our customers a tested original alternative again."
New edition offers original quality
With Porsche fabrics, the interior can be restored to its original condition, regardless of whether a renewal has become necessary due to wear and tear or because a historically incorrect interior design may have been retrofitted. The Technical Certificate for classic Porsche vehicles serves as a reference for the original specification.
As Porsche Genuine Parts, the new ‘old’ textiles meet the sports car manufacturer's high quality standards. This applies to the feel and durability as well as to the accuracy of the often extremely
“Design-defining fabrics like Pepita, Pasha and tartan are part of what makes a classic Porsche feel truly original.”
complicated patterns and colour combinations. "Often, the upholsterer only has to reupholster the driver's seat. In these cases, our aim is to ensure that it continues to match the front passenger seat, which will usually still have its original covering," explains Product Manager Lukas Werginz. In addition, the newly issued fabrics undergo a series of tests, for example for fire resistance, light and colour fastness, and abrasion resistance. This makes them ideal for a wide range of applications in vehicle interiors, such as seat covers or side panels. They are available in 1.5 by 2 metre sizes.
Extensive company archive research and beyond
The main source of information for these new editions was the company archive. For illustrative purposes, Porsche also acquired rare stock items: in the US, for example, the experts found an untouched 911 seat. Upholstered in green tartan in 1975, this seat never found its way into a Porsche. "Stored in a light-proof cupboard, and therefore perfectly preserved, this new-old-stock item was gold dust for us," recalls Werginz.
Further colour variants, including pinstripes in the legendary orange ‘lobster’ colour, are being planned.
Pepita, Pasha and tartan: Porsche's famous seat patterns
From 1963 onwards, Pepita was available as an option for the seats of the Porsche 356, and two years later it was also available for the 911 F model. Pepita consists of checks that are connected to each other by diagonal stripes. The name of the pattern comes from the stage name of the 19th-century Spanish dancer Josefa Durán y Ortega, which was ‘Pepita de Oliva’. It was made famous by Christian Dior. In 1947, the French fashion designer presented his designs and used Pepita for the women's collection.
Tartan fabrics symbolise tradition and craftsmanship, belonging and self-confidence. In 1974, Porsche offered three tartans exclusively in the equipment list of the 911 Turbo. It was not until the 1976 model year that they were also offered in the 911. Tartans are characterised by their check pattern, which is created during the weaving process by using different coloured threads. At the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt am Main in 1973, Porsche presented a study of a 911 RSR Turbo with seat centres and side panels in Black Watch tartan. One year later, Louise Piëch received her silver 911 Turbo ‘No. 1’, which had a red leather interior that featured McLaughlan tartan in the seat centres.
Inspired by waving chequered flags, the Pasha pattern pays tribute to the world of motorsport. First presented to the public in a 928 in 1977, in the south of France, and also offered in the 911, 924 and 944 until the mid-1980s, the pulsating, lively pattern became one of Porsche's most defining interior designs. The name ‘Pasha’ was intended to evoke images of Ottoman sultans reclining on comfortable silk and velvet cushions.
A good five decades ago, the design team around Anatole ‘Tony’ Lapine and Vlasta Hatter developed the pattern based on the legendary Erich Strenger poster. Cleverly arranged rectangles of different sizes created a sense of movement in the pattern, a visual translation of the dynamism and elegance that have always distinguished Porsche. With the new 911 Spirit 70, Porsche has helped the material make a comeback for the first time in a new vehicle.

Electric performance doesn’t change what it means to drive a Porsche — it refines it. Behind the wheel of the new Macan Electric, Porsche Centre Willoughby’s
Sales Operations Manager Ben Drew explains why going electric might be the most effortless driving experience Porsche has ever delivered.
For many Porsche owners, the idea of electric power still raises questions. Will it feel different? Will it lose its edge? And will it fit into everyday life as easily as a petrol car?
According to Ben Drew, the answer is simple — you stop thinking about those questions the moment you start driving.
“The word I keep coming back to is effortless,” Ben says. “That’s the defining difference.”
“When people actually look at how far they drive each week, it’s usually far less than they think. Most can charge once every two weeks.”
Instant confidence, everyday ease
Ben points to a familiar Sydney challenge: the multi-lane merge from the Lane Cove Tunnel towards Pittwater Road — a spot that demands confidence, timing and power.
“In a petrol car, you’re waiting for the engine, waiting for the gearbox, building revs,” he explains. “In the Macan Electric, there’s none of that. You press the accelerator and the car just goes. No hesitation, no drama.”
That instant torque — delivered without gear changes — transforms everyday driving moments into something calmer and more intuitive. The Macan Electric uses a single-speed transmission, meaning acceleration is smooth, linear and immediate.
“You don’t even think about overtaking or merging anymore. It just happens.”
‘You stop working the car it works with you.’
Still unmistakably Porsche
One of the biggest misconceptions around EVs is that they sacrifice driver engagement. Ben is clear that this simply doesn’t apply here.
“Yes, the sound is different — but the performance is absolutely there,” he says. “Straight-line speed, handling, balance — it still drives exactly how a Porsche should.”
The reason lies beneath the floor. With the battery mounted low in the chassis, the Macan Electric benefits from an exceptionally low centre of gravity, enhancing stability and cornering precision.
“They turn in beautifully,” Ben adds. “They’re genuinely fun to drive.”
TAILORED DRIVING, ON DEMAND
The Macan Electric adapts to how you drive. Regenerative braking can be engaged for hills or switched off for smooth coasting on flat roads, allowing the car to feel exactly as you want it to — effortless and intuitive.
‘After hours on the road, you step out feeling like you’ve driven far less.’
Olympic gold medallist Logan Martin
Less fatigue, more distance
That sense of ease extends beyond performance. On longer journeys — including a recent drive to Canberra — Ben and colleagues noticed something unexpected.
“You get out of the car feeling fresher,” he says. “After hours behind the wheel, you don’t feel worn out.”
The combination of smooth power delivery, reduced noise and vibration, advanced seats and Porsche’s latest cabin insulation all contribute to a noticeably calmer driving experience.
“With no engine noise or vibration, fatigue drops away. It’s a big step forward.”
Living with an EV, simplified
For most Porsche Centre Willoughby customers, charging is already a non-issue.
“The majority have a home charger,” Ben explains. “Park the car in the garage, plug it in overnight, and you’re done.”
A three-phase home charger delivers up to 11kW — enough to fully recharge the Macan Electric overnight. While slower charging is better for long-term battery health, fast public DC charging remains readily available when needed.
Australia’s charging network is expanding rapidly, and the vehicle's in-built Porsche Charging Planner removes uncertainty altogether.
“You enter your destination and the car tells you where to stop, how long to charge, and how much range you’ll have when you arrive,” Ben says. “It takes the anxiety out of longer trips.”
For many drivers, the reality is simpler still.“With no engine noise or vibration, fatigue drops away. It’s a big step forward.”
Presently, Australia boasts 165 Porsche Destination Chargers spread across 87 locations, and the Official Porsche Centres' ultra-rapid DC chargers stand as some of the swiftest charging stations in the country, boasting speeds of up to 350 kW.
Quietly clever
There are also unexpected advantages. Leaving early in the morning no longer means waking the household. No fuel stops. No engine warm-ups.
“It’s the perfect stealth Porsche,” Ben smiles.
Inside, the Macan Electric introduces Porsche’s latest digital architecture, running an Android-based operating system beneath the surface. Drivers benefit from faster processing, downloadable apps, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the latest driver assistance and augmented reality head-up display.
THE FUTURE, WITHOUT COMPROMISE
For Ben, the Macan Electric is not about replacing what Porsche has always been; it refines it. It still drives like a Porsche, with greater ease, calmness and everyday intuitiveness. That is perhaps the most compelling part of Porsche’s electric evolution: nothing feels unfamiliar, it simply feels better.
"It’s the most advanced tech Porsche has put into an SUV so far"
Designed to stand apart
While other electric SUVs may look similar at a glance, Ben believes the difference becomes obvious the moment you drive — or even step inside.
“The engineering, the suspension tuning, the fit and finish — it’s at another level,” he says. “That’s decades of Porsche experience coming through.”
And visually, the Macan Electric signals where Porsche design is heading next.
“They’re the most striking SUVs we offer right now,” Ben says. “Out on the road, they just stand apart.”
MANTHEY RACING ALIGNMENT AT PORSCHE CENTRE WILLOUGHBY WORKSHOP
When performance meets precision, even the smallest details can transform a car’s behaviour on road and track. At Porsche Centre Willoughby, our workshop recently welcomed a 992 GT3 RS for a Manthey Racing alignment and corner balance session — an advanced setup usually reserved for drivers seeking every last bit of performance from their Porsche.
“I’ll get the car sitting on the plates, level it up, then start corner balancing. Once the ride height’s sorted and we hit the ‘sweet spot’ for balance, we’ll move on to camber and toe adjustments. The end result is a setup that should feel more harmonious through corners.”
PCW Technician
TG“The Manthey system lets us balance each corner precisely, so the car feels planted and predictable on road or track.”

Corner balancing is a precision chassis setup process that ensures a car’s weight is evenly distributed across all four wheels. Rather than simply checking ride height or alignment angles, the car is placed on individual wheel scales so each corner can be measured and adjusted accurately.
By fine-tuning suspension settings — typically via the coil-over ride height adjusters — technicians aim to achieve an optimal cross-weight balance. This helps the car respond consistently when turning left or right, particularly under braking and through high-speed corners.
For performance-focused Porsches, especially those driven on track, correct corner balancing delivers clearer steering feedback, improved stability and more predictable handling. It ensures the car behaves as a cohesive whole, allowing the driver to exploit its full potential with confidence.
What’s Happening Underneath
“The system we’re using here is a Manthey Racing alignment setup,” explains our senior technician as the GT3 RS rolls onto the scales. While standard two-wheel alignments adjust camber and toe within factory specifications, a Manthey alignment goes deeper — integrating corner balancing with precise wheel load measurement and allowing technicians to optimise cross-weight balance with far greater accuracy than typical dealer equipment. Instead of simply setting alignment angles, this approach measures actual weight distribution at each wheel and lets us dial the suspension to a perfectly balanced state. For track-minded customers, this can mean improved turn-in, consistent mid-corner grip and more predictable car behaviour as speeds rise.
Why It Matters for a 992 GT3 RS
For this owner — a loyal track customer — the goal is clear: extract more performance without sacrificing everyday usability. Manthey Racing’s system, developed alongside Porsche’s own motorsport partners, is built for both road and track use and is small enough to fit in a workshop or track environment. It combines laser guides, wheel load scales, camber gauges and digital measurement tools to give technicians the most comprehensive picture of a car’s chassis setup.
This focus on cross-weight balance — targeting roughly equal weight transfer across diagonals — is an extra step beyond standard alignment and can make a significant difference in how a car responds on a demanding circuit.
Standard Suspension Today, Future Upgrades Tomorrow
Even using stock suspension components, the Manthey system unlocks alignment ranges and precision that typical workshop tools can’t match. As the technician points out, if the car’s owner chooses to upgrade to Manthey shock absorbers and more adjustable suspension parts, this alignment system will allow even more aggressive setups to be dialled in safely and accurately, ready for higher G-loads and track-only cornering forces.

Porsche the 24 Hours of Daytona
HOW RECORD HOLDER PORSCHE MADE ITS MARK.
Porsche is the most successful manufacturer at Daytona, with 20 overall wins, four as an engine supplier, one special victory in 1959, and more than 40 class wins. Let’s look back at its success at this iconic circuit.
For 75 years, Porsche has been writing motorsport history. The first chapter is considered to be the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1951, where a factory-prepared Porsche 356 SL achieved a class victory in the hands of a customer team. Porsche’s triumphant march in Daytona begins just a few years later, on 5 April 1959. Less than two months after the official opening of the impressive Daytona International Speedway, the United States Auto Club (USAC) stages a sports car race for the first time. Even back then, the layout consists of a combination of the NASCAR oval and the infield road course. The championship race, originally scheduled to run over 1,000 kilometres, is stopped after six hours due to nightfall. The winners come from Argentina – and they are driving a Porsche: Roberto Mieres and Antonio von Döry take victory in a 718 RSK ahead of the Porsche driven by Americans Bob Said and Art Bunker. Because a different sanctioning body was involved, this race does not appear in the official IMSA statistics.

THE 1960S: DOUBLE PODIUM CELEBRATIONS FOR THE PORSCHE WINNERS
IMSA’s official Daytona history begins in 1962 – although the championship round at that time is not yet a 24-hour race. In that year and the following season, the sports car event runs over three hours, before being extended to a distance of 2,000 kilometres in the next two years. For the first time, the cars race twice around the clock in Daytona in the 1966 season. Porsche has to wait only until 4 February 1968 for its first overall victory: Entered by the Porsche System Engineering works team, a 907 LH crosses the finish line with a commanding lead, followed by two identical sister cars. A curious detail: On the instructions of then Porsche race director Huschke von Hanstein, works drivers Jo Siffert, Rolf Stommelen and Hans Herrmann also take turns driving the leading No. 54 car of Vic Elford and Jochen Neerpasch for five laps each in the closing stages – meaning that the trio are also officially classified as winners of the race. Siffert and Herrmann also step onto the podium a second time as runners-up.

THE WILD 1970S: PORSCHE 917 VICTORIES AND BRUMOS SETS EARLY BENCHMARKS
At the start of the 1970s, the Porsche 917 KH entered by John Wyer Engineering are the benchmark. The lightningfast race cars from Weissach win the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1970 and 1971 in the legendary Gulf livery, engaging in thrilling battles with Ferrari. After a six-hour race in 1972, Porsche celebrates another triumph the following year: In 1973, the Porsche 911 Carrera RSR of Daytona record winner Hurley Haywood and his perfectly matched partner and Brumos boss Peter Gregg defeats the strong opposition. It is the first victory for the legendary Brumos Porsche team, which shapes the history of Daytona like no other. Further 911 Carrera RSR victories follow in 1975 and 1977. An unparalleled winning streak then begins, lasting until 1987: initially with derivatives of the 935, followed by the 962 –interrupted only by a March victory in 1984, albeit powered by a Porsche engine.
AROUND THE TURN OF THE MILLENNIUM: THE 911 SCORES A SENSATIONAL OVERALL VICTORY
From 1985 to 1991, the winners drove the Porsche 962 with the additional designation “IMSA”. These successes, along with the triumph of the Kremer K8 with Porsche power at the rear, continue Porsche’s magnificent Daytona story into the late 1980s and 1990s. A highlight that remains almost unbelievable to this day follows in 2003: Competing against the nominally superior Daytona Prototypes of the top class, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS takes overall victory.

Americans Kevin Buckler and Michael Schrom share the 911 fielded by The Racer’s Group with today’s Porsche brand ambassadors Timo Bernhard and Jörg Bergmeister. “We had already built up a few laps’ lead early in the race – but by no means enough that we could relax and simply nurse the car home. Quite the opposite: we found ourselves in a situation we had never imagined. A GT car on course for overall victory? Essentially unthinkable,” recalls Bergmeister. “During the night, we had a conversation in the pits along the lines of: ‘Unbelievable, but this could actually happen!’ That was when our initial disbelief turned into a concrete – and ultimately successful – plan,” adds Bernhard.

“THE PORSCHE ENGINEERS ALWAYS HAD AN INNOVATIVE ANSWER TO EVERY CHALLENGE BACK THEN,” RECALLS HURLEY HAYWOOD, FIVE-TIME OVERALL WINNER OF THE 24 HOURS OF DAYTONA. HE CITES THE 962 AS AN EXAMPLE: “THE CAR WAS THE RESPONSE TO THE FACT THAT IMSA DID NOT ALLOW THE PORSCHE 956 IN NORTH AMERICA BECAUSE THE DRIVER’S FEET WERE LOCATED AHEAD OF THE FRONT AXLE. PORSCHE SIMPLY MOVED THE SEATING POSITION FURTHER BACK AND EXTENDED THE WHEELBASE – AND WITH THE 962, ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL RACE CARS OF ALL TIME WAS BORN.”

PORSCHE 963 AS BENCHMARK: A THIRD CONSECUTIVE DAYTONA VICTORY IN 2026?
During the long era of Daytona Prototypes, Porsche adds its name to the winners’ list twice more in the 2000s as an engine partner. After an interlude with DPi cars, a unified technical regulation is finally introduced together with the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). Porsche develops the hybrid prototype 963 together with its partners and fields it from 2023 onward under the Porsche Penske Motorsport banner, both in the world championship and in the IMSA series. This approach proves hugely successful, particularly in North America: Daytona victories in 2024 and 2025, along with all GTP championship titles in both seasons.
“We want more,” states Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President Porsche Motorsport, with a clear view towards the new season.
“In the anniversary year of Porsche Motorsport and on the 60th birthday of Team Penske, we have clear objectives: third consecutive Daytona victory with the Porsche 963, and we intend to compete for titles in the IMSA series again in 2026.”
