RE-IMAGINING THAI SOCIAL SPACE: ROAD TO PHRAKHANONG

Thai classic movies in the past and vintage items used to be famous in this area as a selling point of the festival for the design structure and exhibition theme: sustainable art, and nightlife with vintage items. Moreover, local people can sell things and delicious food endemic to create outstanding features and learn the history of this district.

MOBILITY SURROUNDING CONTEXT EXISTING SITE

Phra Khanong District Office, in addition to overseeing the district in all aspects, has a duty to support villagers and the cooperation of people in the community to participate in activities organized to reduce the gap between the government and local people. The festival area was originally a parking lot for the district office. This area has convenient parking for more than 70 cars and motorbikes with security checkpoints and handicapped public toilets. Therefore, we chose this area for the festival due to the convenience of the facility services and activities the district office regularly hosts.

At the beginning of this alley has a motorcycle taxi. Along the wall of the district office in the alley has areas for car and motorcycle parking at the front for visitors and officers. Most of the cars are officers who work here. The capacity of motorcycles is 25 and cars can be more than 45.

The festival area is a car park of the office normally, the gate is for the exit of cars. It consists of small gardens with a Thai shrine located close to the gate.

In the district office, they provide handicapped car parking in front of the main building. The public toilets are located outside the working area, therefore anyone can use this service, and also provide a ramp for handi-

To assemble people who belonged to PhraKhanong or new non-locals by Classic Thai Films as a medium to tell the history of the prosperity of the Phra Khanong District in the past. Getting people more participation with the district office through the organized festivals and support local villagers to trade and stimulate the economy in the area more and also to develop the activity area of the district office to be a model for other districts.

The main program of the festival will be arranged as close as possible to the two entrances and try to make the most of the space, with the secondary activities being scattered around the main event. The service area will be arranged in a guard position to facilitate separation between the work area and the back of the house.

The main event will be an area that is connected with fabric and poles to create a concealment spot from the outside for the screening event and to be a separate area between activities. Gulliver’s Tunnel is one of the screenings of the history of Thai films inside the tunnel.

The key areas are the interior of the Gulliver’s Tunnel and the outdoor film to show the inner activities of the people and followed by a food kiosk that tries to bring in local shops to participate in the festival.
