Pope. The Whole Package.

Dear Friends,

A new school year is upon us. The Pope Francis Prep campus is once again abuzz with excitement, anticipation, and plentiful opportunity for this new year. We extend a warm welcome to seven new faculty members, our new chaplain, twenty-two transfer students into grades ten and eleven, and a record breaking freshman class of 140 students.

Our growing reputation for all-around excellence is evident in our 2024-2025 enrollment statistics. The school has grown by more than 120 students in the past seven years, now enrolling 450 students. The young women and men who make up today’s Pope family come from 46 cities and towns (34 in Massachusetts and 12 in Connecticut), and come to us from 77 different schools. If you know a family thinking about Pope, nudge them before the Class of 2029 fills up!

The people are the strength of the Pope community. Our innovative and transformative education occurs because of the expertise, compassion, and dedication of the faculty and staff who have committed themselves to this vocation we call Catholic education. Today’s students reap the benefits of our passionate and inspirational teachers and coaches. As one community, we strive to fulfill our spiritual mission to foster intellectual and personal growth, preparing faith-based leaders to do good for others as they face the challenges of tomorrow.

We witnessed the fruits of our mission in action on May 30 as the Class of 2024 accepted their diplomas. Beyond the classroom, this graduating class of 112 students was highly accomplished in the arts, athletics, and service. They

were accepted to top-tier colleges and universities and now have the opportunity to take what they have learned at Pope Francis Prep and make their mark on a much larger scale.

Pope is the whole package! I am energized by Pope’s remarkable progress and achievements and I am excited about our future. In addition to the impressive student and faculty highlights within this issue of the Cardinal magazine, I invite you to spend time exploring our annual report. Our ability to feed students’ passions and realize one’s potential is made possible by our community’s commitment to our mission. I extend my deepest gratitude to our faithful donors and benefactors who have pledged their generous support to the school.

There is so much to see and do on the Pope campus. Whether you were on campus today, last month, or it has been a while, I invite you to come and see us soon. Know that we keep our Pope families and friends in our prayers and I ask that you keep all of us in your prayers.

Best,

One of my favorite memories from Pope Francis has to be my senior year classes with some of the best teachers I’ve ever met. My AP Chemistry class, although small, was such a tight-knit community amongst such a difficult course. The best part about this class was, of course, the teacher, Mrs. Woltschlaeger (Mrs. W.). She always knew how to brighten up my day. She made AP Chemistry not a daunting task for me, but something I would look forward to everyday because of how engaging and interactive she made the class. I was fortunate enough to have her for not only AP Chemistry senior year, but also Honors Physics. That class was also a blast. One thing that I definitely won’t forget about Pope Francis is just how much the teachers really want to get to know you and care about your success.

At the University of Notre Dame, I am studying chemistry with a double minor in patient advocacy and global health on the pre-med track. Part of the reason why I am now so passionate about chemistry is due to Mrs. W. Although the content of AP Chemistry is very different from the chemistry I am taking now, the basic study habits and the foundations of chemistry that were taught at Pope Francis are helping me through my college course. The study habits I learned from Pope also help me in some of the other classes I am taking such as Engineering Physics I and Calculus. In the future, I hope to pursue either an MD/PhD, or a MD/MPH. I know that the faith-based education that I received from the teachers at Pope Francis will allow me to be a force for good on whichever path I chose.

FAIRFIELD UNIVERSITY

Reflecting on where I am now - I would not have wanted the past four years to follow any other path. While I was raised Catholic, going to Mass every Sunday with my family, I struggled with the concept of religion during my early years of high school. At the end of my sophomore year I was able to be a part of some really competitive and successful relay track teams. After competing in multiple races with girls who ended up becoming my best friends, we started to develop a routine of praying before our race. With chaos and nerves rising around us, whenever we prayed it was just four girls hugging in our own little world, celebrating hard work, love, and teamwork. It wasn’t until my junior year when my questions around religion began to drift away as I finally understood that what was missing in my relationship with God was faith. Junior year came and went. I watched core parts of our team graduate and soon my own senior year came around. The team that helped me develop my faith had changed, and I questioned whether praying before a relay would feel the same. A huddle of four girls, reciting the Hail Mary, stomachs churning, I hear “Queen of Victory, pray for us”, and in unison, proudly say “Amen”. I had never felt as close to God, my teammates, and my coach as in that moment. The feeling of safety and being a part of our own little family and community is something that will stay in my heart forever. Carrying with me the lessons I have learned from Pope Francis, I am currently pursuing a degree in biochemistry at Fairfield University in hopes of becoming a physician where I can help make others feel as safe, healthy, and as welcome as I did during my time at Pope Francis Prep.

I have a lot of good memories from my time at Pope— whether from classes, school events, sports, clubs, or any of the in-between—but there is one particular memory that stands out from the rest. Learning about the seven heavenly virtues in Theology 3 is my favorite memory not because it’s the most interesting thing I’ve learned in school, but because the way we used it gave me the best feeling. There are three cardinal virtues: faith, hope, and charity; and four theological virtues: prudence, justice, temperance, and fortitude. One class period towards the end of our junior year, Mr. Hegarty had us select the virtue that was best embodied by each member of the class. We took on the matter seriously, highlighting the best traits of each person with examples and anecdotes and debated passionately whether it was their charity that shined most, or their fortitude, or their faith. In these 80-or-so minutes, I came to realize just how well we had gotten to know each other in the previous three years and just how much love there was between us, even between people who weren’t necessarily friends. We had all picked up on so many little, positive things about our classmates. It was strikingly easy to compliment one another. I knew at this moment that our class had become a community. We showed it best through God, through practicing our faith in ways like this. I thought of how unique and delightful this experience was. I knew, then, that I would really miss PFPS.

At Pope I participated in the Pathways program, exploring two areas: health sciences and civic engagement. At Brown, I am pursuing both. I plan to double major in health and human biology and international and public affairs, on the pre-med track. I hope to earn an MD/MPH combined degree one day and use my interests in both fields.

SANIYAH CALHOUN

HOWARD UNIVERSITY

I have to say that my favorite memory from my time at PFPS was playing in the Powder Puff game in my senior year. Despite my hands and feet freezing throughout the game, I remember being so excited to be part of one of the newest traditions at Pope. Being out on the field, under the lights, in front of the entire school was thrilling. After the game, a few of us went to a nearby Friendly’s to celebrate the victory. We sat there, not only reminiscing about the memories we shared over the past four years, but also talking about the different colleges we hoped to hear from, and the things we hoped and dreamed to do in the future. Sitting there in those bright red booths, surrounded by people I knew since preschool and those I had met freshman year, I was overcome with an intense feeling of community that I feel would have been impossible to replicate had I spent my last four years anywhere else!

I am currently majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry and possibly psychology. Over the next few years, I plan to study abroad and ultimately apply to medical school to pursue pathology or psychiatry.

STEPHANIE CESAR COLLEGE OF THE HOLY CROSS

Pope Francis provided me with many great moments and special times. A memory that stands out, combines the feelings of emotion, connection, family, and the excitement found in many of my other memories at Pope. As a student-athlete, soccer played a large role in my high school career, allowing me to form lifelong friendships and create memories that I will never forget. When we won the Western Mass Championship against Southwick Regional, I remember hearing the final whistle and running to our bench cheering, yelling, and celebrating. The emotions of joy, gratitude, and thrill filled the air and reminded me of the very meaning of family. The excitement from the student body and the hugs and highfives demonstrated the strong and unbreakable bond between the students, faculty, staff, parents, and players. During this time, I felt a love that carried on throughout the rest of my years at Pope Francis. I will remember this moment as a summary of the amazingly tight-knit community that I had the opportunity to experience for my high school years.

As I attend the College of the Holy Cross, I seek to continue making memories similar to this one. I plan to venture down the STEM route, majoring in biology on the pre-med track with a goal to work in pediatrics. Alongside my academics, I will be running track on the women’s track and field team, hoping to win meets and break records! I have valued and appreciated my time at Pope and hope that college can provide me with an even better experience (if that’s even possible).

JOHNNY GOSSELIN BOSTON COLLEGE

Looking back at my time at PFPS, my favorite memories involve being a part of the baseball team. Without the close relationships I developed with my teammates and coaches throughout the years, I don’t know what my high school experience would have looked like. Not only that, but being able to get out on the field and play the game I love always made the spring a more stress-free time of year.

I am currently attending Boston College with a double major in mathematics and secondary education. While I don’t have an exact plan for my future, I hope my career one day combines my two passions of doing math and working with people.

“Congratulations to the Class of 2024 on their COLLEGE ACCEPTANCES. We are proud of all they accomplished throughout their four years at Pope and know that they will continue to be successful in the future. The Class of 2024 is attending an impressive list of colleges that fit their individual needs and goals. It was my pleasure to help guide them along their college journey. This fall they may be an Eagle, Friar, Minuteman, Stag, Husky, Leprechaun, or Crusader — to name a few — however they will always first and foremost be a Cardinal. Good luck!”

ACADEMICS in Action

On May 29 at the Microsoft Corporate Office in Burlington, MA two Cardinals were given NCWIT AWARDS (National Center for Women in Technology) for their computer science and technology accomplishments. Akosua Ahenkang ‘26 was given an honorable mention by The NCWIT Aspirations in Computing High School Award that honors her active interests in computing and technology. She was the only student to be awarded from Western Massachusetts. Mrs. Slawiak was one of two teachers in Massachusetts who was awarded an NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Educator Award.

Congratulations to Jack Murphy ’25 who has been recognized for his outstanding achievement on the 2023 PSAT and has been named a NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP SEMIFINALIST! From more than 1.3 million juniors in about 21,000 high schools who took this exam, Jack is among a nationwide pool of Semifinalists that represents less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors. Jack now becomes one of 16,000 students who will apply for status as a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. Locally, Jack is one of only two students to be recognized for this achievement from the 23 cities and towns in Hampden County.

The DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD consists of local sophomore, junior and senior high school students who meet on a regular basis with the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office. The objective of the board is to address tough issues facing today’s teens and research effective prevention strategies. Participants finished the year attending an annual conference in which all students shared insights into the work they did throughout the year. The PFPS representatives for the 20232024 school year included Emma Caproni ’25, Samuel Eskander ’24, Nicholas Falvo ’26, Francesca Hernandez ’25, Mackenzie Lopes ’24, and Robert McDonough ’24.

> Congratulations to the Class of 2024 VALEDICTORIAN Samuel Eskander and SALUTATORIAN Mackenzie Lopes! Sam is now attending Brown University and Mackenzie is attending the University of Notre Dame.

Celebrated poet Jack Powers, author of the collection Still Love, officiated over our annual APRIL IS POETRY MONTH competition. Mr. Powers commented on the power and spirit of the winning poems. The winners included Mila Dillard ’27, Derrick Tran ’26, Ysabella Hernandez ’25 and Victoria King ’24, PFPS poet laureate for 2024!

Thank you to our students who displayed their work and performed at EVENING OF THE ARTS. This event was an opportunity for parents and family members to visit campus and witness the amazing talents of our students in the fine and performing arts. Thank you as well to our faculty in these areas who through their commitment to the arts impart knowledge and teach the skills necessary for success.

> A highlight of the underclassmen award ceremony is the receipt of BOOK AWARDS by our juniors. In some cases, if the student is admitted and enrolled at the college, there is a merit scholarship attached to the award. The total awarded to the Class of 2025 reached $884,000!

Over the summer, Francesca Hernandez ’25 was invited to an intensive LAW AND TRIAL PROGRAM AT STANFORD UNIVERSITY. Program participants were taught by Stanford professors about legal rhetoric and ethics, learning everything from tort law to criminal law. College students who passed the bar also prepared participants for a mock trial simulation endorsed by the American Mock Trial Association. Francesca shares “during the mock trial, my role was a criminal prosecutor, so I had to question my witness and cross-examine an opposing witness, as well as create effective arguments. I enjoyed being a criminal prosecutor because, after college, I would love to become one! Even though it took a lot of time to prepare and memorize my lines for questioning, it was worth it because I helped my team win the case! Through my two weeks, we had to take three tests, and with my hard work, note-taking, and studying, I was awarded college credit for all of them! Through this law program, I have developed a better understanding of how to make impactful opening statements and closing arguments, how to effectively prepare for a case, and how to ready a witness for cross-examination.”

POINTS of Pride

The Pope Francis Players’ production of THE LITTLE MERMAID was absolutely amazing! Congratulations to the cast, crew, and pit band. Thank you to all who attended the show. We are grateful to all the parents, students, faculty, staff, friends, family and community members who showed their support for this talented and hardworking group of Cardinals!

We welcomed the GOLDEN ALUMNI (those who graduated in 1974 or earlier) from Holyoke Catholic, Precious Blood, and Cathedral High School for Mass and breakfast on campus. Thank you to our Christian Leadership students who helped throughout the event, our talented Cardinal musicians who provided the music during Mass, Fr. Jon, and everyone who helped make this a memorable morning for our legacy alumni!

Over April vacation, a handful of Pope students and families joined Ms. Rivers for a TOUR OF WESTERN US NATIONAL PARKS including the Grand Canyon, Bryce and Zion. Students described the experience as once in a lifetime and said the scenery and landscape was breathtaking.

We concluded the first day of the 2024-2025 school year with an ADVISORY meeting. It was great to welcome back our returning students and meet our newest advisory group members. In our groups, we discussed the word “hero” and what it means to each of us. Together we came up with an image that represented heroes and we went outdoors to work on chalk masterpieces. A great first meeting for advisory!

The Class of 2024 enjoyed a fun day at THE VILLAGE AT BOULDER RIDGE. There was swimming, zip lining, kayaking, delicious food, basketball, tennis, volleyball, and even a bear sighting!

Congratulations to Elizabeth Moccia ’24 for earning the Girl Scouts highest award, the GOLD AWARD, for her project “Need to Read”. Lizzie earned this prestigious award by working countless hours doing research to promote literacy and transforming an unused space to create the perfect reading room at The Tommy Johnson Square One, here in Springfield. Lizzie is part of an exclusive group of outstanding leaders who earn the Gold Award, which only 5.4% of eligible Girl Scouts receive. Way to go, Lizzie!

>

Since the launch of our FOOD WASTE REDUCTION INITIATIVE this past February, PFPS has been able to recycle 1,254 pounds of food waste and donate it to a local West Suffield, CT farmer who feeds his pigs, chickens, and cows. This initiative is being led by our AP Environmental Science teacher, Mr. Allerton, who is passionate about preserving our environment for future generations. Mr. Allerton called upon our faculty and staff to take action as he shared a teaching from Pope Francis’ Encyclical Laudato Si’, where the Pope calls upon all people of the world to take “swift and unified global action” to overcome the “throw-away culture.” We are so proud of our students for taking the time to sort what is left on their lunch plates so local farmers and their animals can benefit, and we create less waste in our local landfills.

The SENIORS VS FACULTY WIFFLE BALL GAME was a nail-biter. Congratulations to the Class of 2024 for their big comeback in the 6th inning to win!

On Friday, March 8, our faculty and staff attended a wonderful RETREAT at Holy Family Retreat Center in West Hartford, CT. A big thank you to Fr. Stan for joining us and celebrating Mass.

Congratulations to all of our Cardinal Musicians who performed at our SPRING CONCERT. It was a wonderful night filled with amazing performances!

The SENIOR CELEBRATION AND PARENT APPRECIATION NIGHT was a great way to honor the Class of 2024 for all that they accomplished over the past 4 years. Congratulations to the many award recipients and a BIG thank you to the Class of 2024 Cardinal parents!

A CARDINAL REFLECTION

Over the Labor Day Weekend, I had the wonderful experience of attending the Good News Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Among the twelve keynote presentations and speakers were two of my heroes: Bishop Robert Barron, founder of the Word on Fire Institute and Father Mike Schmitz from Ascension Press (renown for his Bible in a Year program). Fortunately, I had the opportunity to introduce myself to these Catholic rock stars as a theology teacher from our Catholic high school in Western Mass. I personally thanked each of them for their spiritual guidance via digital media and their proliferation of Catholic educational videos that I and members of my department integrate into our lessons. Both men greeted me with joy and warmth at meeting a fellow theologian and educator, and both priests asked me to communicate their blessings to the Pope Francis students and teachers. Grateful for both encounters, I promised that our community would pray for them and their ministries in return.

The theme of the conference was Mercy, and each presenter wove this theme into their talk. Bishop Barron’s keynote address centered around what he called the spiritual physics of the Gospel: “Mercy comes first, love follows.” He outlined four Scripture passages where justice (punishment) is probably deserved but Jesus responds with mercy instead. In so doing,

the crowds, the disciples, the Pharisees (and the reader of the Bible in any age) are challenged to love more deeply, the way Christ does. When we lead with mercy instead of judgment, we open the door to a deeper, more spiritually enriching experience.

Father Mike’s keynote address was entitled, “The Lord loves you as you are, not as you wish you were.” In and amongst his delightful anecdotal stories, he challenged each person at the conference not to fall into the trap of judging ourselves based on some false, unrealistic version (someone else’s or our own) of who we are. In a sense, he emphasized, the Lord delights in our humanity (and even when we fail to be loving and wise) because God can heap even more mercy upon us.

I and everyone in the ballroom full of 2,000+ attendees were moved deeply by the keynote speech given by Katie Shaw. Katie is an advocate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She, herself, has Down’s Syndrome, the genetic disorder that results from an imbalance in chromosomes. It was a pleasure for me to hear her stories about her own life’s challenges and victories, as my younger brother, Mark, also lives with Down’s. Not surprisingly, a major point of her talk was in support of the first theme of Catholic Social Teaching: respecting the life and dignity of all human beings. It was an honor to get a photo with her after her talk and to tell her that she is a hero of mine.

UNITED in Faith

A warm welcome to FR. JAMES NOLTE, our new chaplain! Fr. James is also the pastor of St. Patrick’s in South Hadley. Fr. James joins the Pope community as a support to our spiritual mission and the sacramental life of our students, faculty, and staff.

The white CATHOLIC SCHOOL CORD was presented to 41 members of the Class of 2024 who attended Catholic School from grades K-12. The schools represented included 10 local Catholic schools: St. Aloysius, Blessed Sacrament, St. Bernards, St. John the Baptist, St. Joan of Arc, St. Martha’s, St. Mary’s Academy, St. Michael’s Academy, St. Stanislaus, and St. Thomas.

Congratulations to our Cardinals who received the Gifts of the Holy Spirit during their CONFIRMATION at St. Elizabeth Parish in Ludlow. May the power of the Holy Spirit guide them as they become strong Disciples of Christ.

It was great to see all of our students, faculty, and staff come together in prayer for our OPENING MASS. Thank you to Fr. James, Fr. Jon, the Liturgical Choir, and the 2024-2025 Christian Leadership team for a beautiful first Mass!

On Easter Thursday, April 4, Latin students gathered in our chapel to celebrate the Risen Christ at our annual LATIN MASS. Father Jon, celebrant and preacher, spoke eloquently about the Latin language as a vehicle of Church unity, transcending time and space, and urged the students to open their hearts evermore to the daily love and power of the risen Jesus. The students, who have learned all of the traditional Gregorian chants, sang a complete Latin High Mass from beginning to end, with great recollection and devotion.

We were blessed to celebrate the Class of 2024 and their families at the BACCALAUREATE MASS at St. Michael’s Cathedral.

We are grateful for the priests who joined us for our EASTER PENANCE SERVICE : Fr. Dave Aufiero, Fr. John Connors, Fr. Jack Sheaffer, Fr. Stan Achu, Fr. Norm Bolton, Fr. Basaam Saade, Fr. Piotr Calik, Fr. Alex Asamoah, Fr. Wayne Biernat, Fr. Augustine Judd, OP, Msgr. Dan Liston, and Fr. Dan Pacholec. The penance service also included prayer and time for reflection.

THE VOICE OF THE CARDINALS

Each year at Commencement, a special award is presented to the member of the graduating class that made the biggest impact within the school community and who best embodies the values within the Pope Francis Preparatory School mission statement. This prestigious award is voted on by the PFPS graduating class and the faculty and staff. This year, votes were overwhelmingly cast for Antonio ‘AJ’ Goncalves ’24 for his immense role within the school community as the first game announcer, event host, and for always going above and beyond for anything and everything Pope!

We caught up with AJ, the Voice of the Cardinals, to reminisce about his journey at Pope and learn about his plans for the future.

Q:

Your first time commentating was on September 13, 2021, covering a boys soccer game vs Agawam. What do you remember from that day?

I will be honest, I was a little bit nervous, especially when five minutes into the game, my uncle who is a die-hard soccer fan, sent me a text of things that I needed to mention. I managed to get through the first game jitters and loved every minute of it. I even branded the phrases “Taste the Turf” and “Shake and Bake” on that first telecast. I knew it was a big hit when students were approaching me the next day using those phrases describing simple things like walking to class or picking up a sandwich at lunch.

Q: Do you remember how and when the name “Voice of the Cardinals” came to be?

I was starting to become a regular at sporting events. One morning in the fall of 2021, I was going in to prepare for the school’s daily announcements and looking over the script. Mr. Anziano came up to me and gave me a note that he wanted to be

included for that day’s show. He handed it to me and said; “AJ, it’s clear to me that from this point forward, your new title will now be the “Voice of the Cardinals.” From that moment on, I knew that would be the perfect nickname for the work that I was doing.

Q:

What is your favorite memory? Is there a specific game or event that you covered that stands out? Over the years at Pope, we had dozens of fantastic moments and memories during my time announcing. I can clearly remember and will never forget the great basketball, baseball, soccer, and lacrosse games I broadcasted. There were so many great athletes accomplishing so many extraordinary feats. However, there is one sport that stood out and will always be special to me, and that would be Pope Francis Hockey. We had an awesome crew at Pope Prep Productions, and we were at our best covering Pope’s outstanding boys hockey team. We streamed a ton of great games including many memorable playoff games, most notably during the winter season of 2022-2023. One game

“MY ULTIMATE GOAL AND DREAM IS TO MAKE “THE VOICE” A HOUSEHOLD NAME.”

in particular will stand out forever, and I will never forget it. That game would be the 2023 State Championship Final. It was a HUGE game for the hockey team as well as Pope Prep Productions. It was the culmination of all of our hard work throughout the season and our biggest challenge yet. We were going remote on location, live from the historic TD Garden in Boston. The logistics of this event made it a daunting task, but our team was up to the challenge. I had achieved one of my life-long goals. I had announced a game live from the Boston Garden just like I had always dreamed of as a kid. What a game it was! Pope Francis won the state championship by scoring in the last 25 seconds. This game has over six thousand views on YouTube.

Q:

How did you enjoy working with Mr. Geoffrey and the Pope Prep Production team?

It was an honor and a privilege to have been able to work alongside Mr. Geoffrey every step of the way. Without him, none of the success we had would have been possible. He was always supporting the

Pope Production Team, and it certainly would not have been successful without his time, energy, dedication and expertise. He taught all of us on the Pope Prep Production team about many of the aspects of setting up, creating, directing and producing each of the games that we were able to bring to fans via the YouTube channel. I am also grateful for all of the Pope Productions team members. It was essential for us to work as a team to be successful. It takes time to prepare for each broadcast - equipment needs to be set up well ahead of time and research needs to happen in order to determine rosters and gather stats, etc. Additionally, troubleshooting is a huge part of things as well. I am forever grateful to Mr. Geoffrey and the many different crew members with whom I had the pleasure to work.

Q:

What are you doing now?

I am attending Arizona State University in Phoenix and I am studying Sports Journalism. Though most people think the number one reason I

chose ASU was to escape the harsh New England winters, I made my decision based on the award winning program at the Walter Cronkite School. This past summer, I worked as the PA announcer for the Westfield Starfires, a collegiate baseball team based out of Bullens Field. I also plan to continue to practice through the many opportunities I will have in Phoenix and Tempe which include internships, clubs at ASU, as well as numerous broadcasting, announcing and media related opportunities offered here. ASU has an amazing Division I athletic program and I plan to take on as many events as my schedule will allow. There are also several news stations within a block or two of my dorm, so the possibilities for me to continue to practice and improve my communication skills are endless, and I plan on taking advantage of every single one of them! My hope one day after graduation is to continue to work in this field that I am so deeply passionate about. Be it radio, television or media, at the college level or professional level, my ultimate goal and dream is to make “The Voice” a household name.

Gifts listed in this report reflect donations for all purposes by a donor to Pope Francis Preparatory School between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024.

As we look ahead, we reflect on the past year, and honor those who have helped ensure our community continues to thrive. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to the future of Pope Francis Prep!

Letter from the Director of Development

Dear Alumni, Family, and Friends,

I WANT TO EXPRESS MY DEEPEST GRATITUDE, for your unwavering support of Pope Francis Preparatory School, which makes a significant impact on the lives of our students today and tomorrow. Over the past year, Pope Francis Prep has achieved remarkable progress, raising over $540,000 for the Cardinal Fund and nearly $1,000,000 in total gifts. I am grateful for the support of 1,208 donors who made 1,525 gifts. Enhanced by our annual Day of Giving in March, the Cardinal Fund grew by $102,395 from more than 530 donors, in 30 different states, over this 24-hour period. This incredible feat would not have been possible without the generosity of our alumni and school community who believe in our mission and the transformative power of a Catholic education.

Additionally, our endowment portfolio, which includes more than 50 funds, has surpassed $18,000,000, providing our school with over $600,000 in annual operational support and scholarships. Your generous contributions combined with our healthy portfolio, allow us to make strategic decisions that directly benefit our students now and in the future.

As we uphold our commitment to fulfill the mission, we remain mindful of the resources required to support our faith-filled, college-prep approach to education. Your annual support is crucial in maintaining a nurturing environment while also investing in our programs and campus. The future remains bright at Pope Francis Prep, and your support has a lasting impact on the lives of our students every day. Thank you for continuing to invest in the success of our students and supporting our ongoing growth and longterm vision. As a proud alum entering my seventh year leading the school’s advancement efforts, I am inspired by our steady growth and look forward to working with each of you to ensure Pope Francis Prep continues to prosper.

Sincerely,

MILESTONES OF IMPACT

Pope Francis Prep celebrates the donors who have offered their support for five or more consecutive years. Their partnership with us has been, and continues to be, an important source of operational support and financial assistance to our students. We thank them and express our gratitude for their commitment to our school.
