Gallons of waste water improved through PC training sessions
Located in New Orleans East, this project brings community members and Pontchartrain Conservancy scientists together to design and build green infrastructure installations near canals and waterways. PC is monitoring water quality before and after the projects are built, testing for typical pollutants and water runoff rates. Data analysis will determine how effective the installations are in naturally filtering out pollutants. Community members are learning how to use native plants and a custom designed soil mix to help filter the runoff before it enters storm drains. The data is being collected, analy~ed, and shared at community outreach and teaching workshops.
