THE REVISION PROCESS FOR THE CITY’S NEW PLANNING PROGRAM

Throughout 2023, Pointe-Claire residents will be invited to take part in several workshops to contribute to the revision of the Planning Program.

In February and March of 2023, citizens took part in a first online activity on the Development Vision as well as a first in-person collaborative workshop on the process of evolution of the built environment.

Prior to the participatory activities, thematic fact sheets are shared on the Pointe-Claire, it's who we are platform to prepare participants and citizens on the various topics encompassed by the Planning Program. Following the activities, a report is also published to allow all citizens of Pointe-Claire to stay informed on various topics.

The process of revising the Planning Program was officially initiated in February 2022, following the adoption of the first draft and an interim control regulation (RCI) by the Municipal Council. In addition, the Planning Department, supported by various collaborators, has been working since the Fall on the City’s landscape as well as the socio-demographic, economic and architectural diagnoses, which are all essential elements in the development of a plan.

The several steps of analysis and citizen participation are what will allow the Planning Department to draft a revised plan and regulations. In the final step, the plan will be brought to a public consultation to be adopted. All citizens of Pointe-Claire will have the opportunity to share their opinions on the proposals presented.

WHAT IS A PLANNING PROGRAM?

The Planning Program is the most important official document of the municipality in terms of land use planning. It is a regulatory planning tool that specifies the guidelines for land use and development. It contains the planning policies adopted by the Municipal Council that will guide its decision-making in the future.
