Book Corner

Books are like a watch; you can rewind whenever you like. And that makes them so attractive; you indulge yourself in everlasting moments. Some books are great examples of this magnificent process, while others aren’t. But here are my personal favorite time travelers. In the historical fiction genre, my favoritebooktothisdayis Salttothe Sea by Ruta Sepetys. Synopsis: In 1945,WorldWarII is drawing to a close in East Prussia and thousands ofrefugeesareonadesperatetrek

toward freedom, almost all of them with something to hide.

Among them are Joana, Emilia, and Florian, whose paths converge en route to the ship that promises salvation, the Wilhelm Gustloff. The book includes captivating quotes such as “I moved from body to body, treating blisters, wounds, frostbite.ButIhadnotreatment for what plagued people the most.Fear.”

Shifting over to the fiction genre, I recommend reading The Dutch House by Ann Patchett. It’s told from the perspective of a young boy, Danny. The story begins by explaining some background details of Danny and his sister Maev’s lives in the Dutch house with their parents. Continued on nextpage…

Entertainment

It smoothly transitions to a story of resilience and survival. The lives of Danny and Maev were shaped by the Dutch house, but they molded their future. A thought-provoking quote from this book is, “I see the past as it actually was, But we overlay the present onto the past. We look back through the lens of what we know now, so we're not seeing it as the people we were, we're seeing it as the people we are, and that means the past has beenradicallyaltered”.

The next book in the fantasy genre is magical. If you like fantasy, you might find The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern quite enthralling. This book is slow-paced but doesn’t leave out a single detail. The story revolves around two young magicians who have their future set. They are to duel each other to death. It was a pleasant read with vivid sceneries. It was the second fantasy book I finished while not getting too bored. So that says something. A possibly relatablequotefromthisbookis,

it is when you are in the midst of it. It is too familiar.Toocomfortable”.
