Acacia Salon: Modern, comfortable looks for busy lives Salon strives to make clients feel good without breaking the bank

achel and Jason Mark, owners of Acacia Salon in Snoqualmie, know that everyone needs a good haircut.

The owners and their 15-person staff strive to provide great service at a reasonable price and a convenient location.

“We’re all about making people happy” said Rachel Mark.

Two and a half years ago, she and Jason opened Acacia at 7721 Center Boulevard on Snoqualmie Ridge. The Marks take a comfortable, classic approach at their salon.

“All of our stylists take pride in being modern, yet classic, in the way they cut and color hair,” Rachel said. “We understand how important it is to take care of someone’s appearance, so we don’t try out the latest trendy looks on our clients.”

Instead, Acacia offers a classic way of cutting and coloring hair, while able to create any new look that a client asks for.

“Our front desk staff understands how important it is to help every client who comes to the salon feel warmly welcomed and comfortable,” Rachel said.

The Marks considered selling the shop last year to give Rachel more time with family. But they ultimately decided to renew their commitment to the salon. The Marks have brought in a number of new stylists who are excited to work with clientele.

Rachel said that her great Ridge location, combined with a positive atmosphere and dedicated staff, appeal to clients, who love the feeling at Acacia.

Great team The team of hairstylists at Acacia take their jobs, and the impact they have on their clients, very seriously.

“I feel extraordinarily lucky to have such an amazing staff

of hairdressers and receptionists,” Rachel said. “They are so professional. They really care about giving our clients a great experience, giving them exactly what they are hoping for.

Every designer at Acacia Salon appreciates clients’ needs and their desire to look the very best.

“We take pride in our thorough consultations, where you can discuss the vision that you or your designer have for your hair,” Rachel said. “If you love your hair a certain way, that’s exactly what you get. If you are ready for an exciting change in your appearance, we can work together to find the right new look for you.”

Acacia offers hair services on a three-level pricing system, so that anyone can be pampered by attentive staff. Designers’ levels are based on seniority and their level of education.

Women’s haircuts start at $35; men’s haircuts start at $18.

Family friendly Acacia strives to make clients feel relaxed, pampered and comfortable.

“Our philosophy at Acacia is to create an experience where busy adults step away from the demands of life, put their trust in our skilled designers, and leave feeling like we’ve really made a difference in their appearance,” Rachel said. “We believe that a great haircut or color is only the foundation to the exceptional salon experience that every client deserves.”

The salon closes late Monday through Thursday at 9 p.m. to help busy men and women take care of their hair services after work or when child care is more available.

With more and more teenage girls coloring their hair, and more teenage boys looking for a shaggy cut, the salon offers trendy looks at discounted prices for teens age 12 to 18.

“We specialize in soft, textured, longer haircuts for boys, and beautiful highlights, soft layers and those fantastic, sideswept bangs” for girls, Rachel said.

“We just want to serve the whole family,” Rachel said.

Children’s prices are discounted almost every day at the salon, to save the family budget.

Great service

Acacia is excited to be part of the Microsoft Prime Network, allowing 15 percent off hair services for Prime members.

Rachel said she knows that it’s tough for hardworking Microsoft employees to take the time to grab a needed haircut and save money. The network offers an added incentive.

“We know the Valley is filled with Microsoft employees and would love for them to visit our salon,” she said.

To bring families in and keep them coming back, Acacia also offers discounts to clients for referring friends or family.

They’re open later and take their last appointment at 7:30 p.m. to serve busy moms who can use dad as a sitter in the evening.

“If the moms come to us, why not bring the kids?” Rachel said. “We know these are tough economic times for a lot of people, so we have dropped our prices a bit so that more people can give us a try.”

Acacia is now offering full body waxing, as well as bikini and leg waxing and brow shaping, by aesthetician, colorist and hair designer Natasha Roberts. Body waxing is a muchrequested service, which Acacia provides in private rooms.

Essential products

Acacia carries a variety of retail products to create greatlooking hair, including Pureology, Moroccan Oil, Brazilian Blowout, Enjoy, Privé, Goldwell, Bumble and Bumble, Bed Head Men’s hair care and Mirabella Make-up. Acacia is one of only six salons in the Seattle area that carry Privé.

Rachel said she’s proud of the fact that Acacia is doing its part to stop diversion, the selling of professional products in other venues outside of a salon. She said there’s a chance that diverted products can be diluted, old, expired or counterfeit.

by Coppola. Gaining in popularity, keratin treatments create smooth, soft, shiny hair. The Keratin by Coppola treatment takes longer than the Brazilian Blowout, but is more permanent while leaving a milder odor.

New stylist Sheri Griffin brings a pampering touch to men’s hairstyling at Acacia.

She comes to the salon from Spokane’s Weldon Barber shop, and offers a traditional haircut, including a shampoo, neck shave and massage, at an affordable price.

Sheri comes in early at 7 a.m. on Friday mornings to make sure men with busy lives can look their best while making it to the office on time.

As a novice stylist, Rachel was given an opportunity fresh out of school, and without that hand-holding experience, she figures she would never be as successful as she has been.

“We help newer stylists navigate through the first few years in the salon, as they learn and develop their individual skill,” she said.
