Former joint replacement recipients will take part in the discussion and offer suggestions for follow-up care. “HEALTHY YOU” FAIR WHIDBEY GENERAL’S EDUCATION SERIES

Expert clinical staff from WGH invite you to the first annual “Healthy You” Fair on Monday, April 25 at the Oak Harbor Senior Center from 1-4:00 pm. The fair will include the following screenings: Hearing, Memory, Balance/Gait, Medications, & Blood Pressure. Additionally, our registered dietitian will teach you how to prepare a healthy new dish! Call the Front Desk at 279-4580 to ensure a spot on the sign up list for a screening. At the very least, we encourage you to drop by to ask questions and find new ways to support your health & independence.

BREWERS TASTE TEST For those who love a good cup of brew, here’s a chance to select the blend we will use at the Center for the next six months. The Test will start with a free tour and demonstration at Honeymoon Bay Café on Tuesday, April 5 at 1:00 pm. Mike will conduct the tour and share the over-all history and roasting of coffee, the different flavors and grinding. A real brewer’s education. Tastings will be offered. With over 21 blends to choose from, those attending will decide the five blends to be tested at the Center on April 6 & 8 from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. Brewers Taste Tickets will cost $1.00 per day and entitle you to taste all the coffee you want, vote on your favorite and be entered in a drawing for a special gift basket. Home safety and firearms familiarization

I

s your home safe? How about door locks; window locks; exterior lighting or out of control landscaping? Presentation will cover the importance of having a plan. Basic firearms safety will be covered. A selection of different firearms will be displayed. The effects of firearms and things to consider when keeping a firearm in the home for security, types of ammunition, firearm selection, and means of safe storage will be discussed. There will be an opportunity to dispose of any old ammunition you’ve not been able to get rid of. Retired Island County Sherriff’s Department Detectives and Firearms Instructors Robert Clark and Errol Ortego will conduct the seminar, Monday, April 4 at 1:00 pm. APPLEBEE’S DINING OUT FUNDRAISER EVENT Invite all of your Friends & Family to dine with us any time on Wednesday, May 4 and Applebee’s will donate 15% of the proceeds to the Oak Harbor Senior Center. (To Go and Carside To Go orders will be applied!) Pick up your flyer (Ticket) at the Oak Harbor Senior Center. You must have a Ticket for the Senior Center to receive 15%. This offer is good only at the Applebee’s at 31810 State Route 20 in Oak Harbor. A fun, tasty way to raise funds and best of all no dishes to wash!

Quilt Raffle Members of the Oak Harbor Center Piecers display the beautiful quilt the have made to raffle. The quilt design is called Magic Circles and is made from donated material. Tickets are $1.00 and may be purchased at the Center. Drawing will be held at the Anniversary event planned for September 8. All proceeds go towards supporting programs at the Oak Harbor Senior Center.
