Originally from Wyoming, she made her way to the Olympic Peninsula via San Diego and Berlin.

Aldrich’s Market opened in 1895 and continues to solidly run as Port Townsend’s gathering place for groceries, salads, soups, wine and craft beer.

2 p.m. — “WILD” BILL RANNIGER, corporate executive chef for all six Duke’s Chowder Houses Cooking: Tempting Thai ginger cod in a coconut milk broth.

About: “Wild” Bill Ranniger is co-author with Duke Moscrip of the cookbook “As Wild As It Gets ... Duke’s Secret Sustainable Seafood Recipes.” Ranniger started washing dishes and prepping food to order to help pay for entertainment.

As an art major at Central Washington University, he was throwing pots and wondering what kind of art he was going to teach for the rest of his life, all the while working in kitchens and getting better at cooking.

DIRECTIONS: Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Unroll crescent roll into a long rectangle. Don’t separate.

Mix cream cheese, spices, salt, and hot sauce. Spread over half the dough, leaving room to seal at the edges.

Spread the crab meat over the cream cheese mixture, baste edge with water, then fold dough over and seal edges. Brush top with your choice: beaten egg yolk, or seasoned olive oil, or spritz with water, or lemon butter.

Lemon butter goes really well with this.

Bake until golden brown (20-25 minutes). Use a pizza blade to cut into slices, and serve immediately.

This year’s main festival art was created by Washington copper repousse artist Don Dye of Wildlife Images with his wonderful painting titled “Louie.”

Dye has been a full-time artist since the early 1980s. Wildlife wood sculpting provided a creative outlet for 20 years.

He has taken a variety of art classes in many media, including clay, photography, print making and glass.

Painting with acrylics also has become a favorite new direction.
