Faith Lutheran Church

We are a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. We believe and teach that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. The Word of God teaches that we are all conceived and born sinful and are under the power of the devil until Christ claims us as his own. We would be lost forever unless delivered from sin, death and everlasting condemnation. But the Father of all mercy and grace has sent His Son, Jesus Christ, who atoned for the sin of the whole world, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. Faith Lutheran Church and Preschool exist to help people find meaning, purpose and direction throughout life as we journey through life on our way to eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ. Our many and varied ministries exist to give practical strength, direction and help to real people who live their lives daily with spouses, family, school and work. Our church is served by our pastors,

the Rev. Steven Eaton and the Rev. Roger Stites. Our preschool staff assists parents to see that their children receive a solid education that is Christ-centered. Our youth groups have activities for people from infancy through adulthood. Our Bible study classes are varied, offered not only on Sundays but throughout the week as well. Our music programs and choirs cover the entire spectrum of interests and ages. Our worship features very practical and life-related teaching and strengthening from in-depth study of the Scriptures and worship featuring two thousand years of Christian tradition and depth. At Faith Lutheran Church there is something for everyone, regardless of age and interests. Our staff and people are accessible and here to help. We invite you to come visit and ask questions. Join us for worship at 8:30 a.m. or 11 a.m. every Sunday!

Lutherans recognize the many contradictions and idiosyncrasies we encounter daily. A simple division in ‘good’ and ‘bad’ does not do justice to the complexity of life. Lutherans think that all people are sinners and saints at the same time. In one moment they are capable to do incredible deeds of love and in the next moment they act as if their selfish egos were the center of the universe. We always live in the tension of this paradox. The great unifier of the human race is the fact that we all are sinners. Falling short of the glory of God is one thing we all have in common. Because we know we are not better than other people it doesn’t make sense to judge and to condemn, but to welcome all who seek God. We invite you to experience God’s amazing grace in Word and Sacrament, in worship and prayer, in fellowship and social advocacy that brings God’s justice to a hurting world. Help us do God’s work with our hands. You are welcome to come as you are. Bring your darkness and your light, and you don’t have to check your brain at the door. We can handle doubts and questions and even outright unbelief. We don’t give you shallow rules, but together we will build a mature faith that will sustain you in our increasingly complex and secular world.

The philosopher Paul Ricœur calls faith a wager. Lutherans put their money on Jesus. To have faith means for us to trust in Jesus’ promise that a loving God freely bestows his gift of grace on all people. This is truly good news in a society that fiercely believes that you only get what you deserve. Lutheranism is entirely for the underserving. We share in Christ’s resurrection just because God loves us. This perspective on the human condition makes Lutheran theology unique.

We offer a large variety of small groups, classes, special events, and concerts to help people of all generations grow in faith and be active in the community. Our preschool provides a solid Christian education. We are blessed to work with many local mission partners and so we help to transform Port Angeles into a just, healthy and creative community. Holy Trinity Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. We have been an active part of the Port Angeles Community since 1894.

If you just take one thing away from this ad let it be this: God's grace is upon you! ALWAYS! There is NOTHING you can do or say to lose God's love. Humans will hate you if you don't get your beliefs right, but GOD WILL NOT! If someone tells you otherwise, they're most probably not LUTHERAN.

Follow me and I will make you fishers of men. .

What is Unity?

Unity Church of

Unity is a positive, practical, progressive approach to Christianity based on the teachings of the Universal Christ and the power of prayer and co-creation. Unity honors the universal truths in all religions, and respects each individual’s right to choose their spiritual path to the Divine.

Port Townsend Come Home to Unity

We seek to celebrate that Divine Presence which unites all of us and our world. Our mantra is “Unity of Port Townsend is an Authentic, Transformative, Spiritual Community.”

Church of Christ Port Angeles

PROGRAMS OFFERED: Our Bible Class is at 9:30 AM and worship at 10:45. Our worship consists of coming together weekly to pray, sing, partake in communion, and engage in the Bible through sermons directly from the Bible. Outside of worship is our feeding the community at the Methodist Church four Fridays a year for their Friendship Dinner and at the Salvation Army on the first Monday of each month. We also sing on the first and second Sundays at Crestwood Rehab Center with residences who wish to participate. MISSION STATEMENT: The purpose of the Port Angeles Church of Christ is to honor God by reflecting Jesus, giving ourselves in loving service, sharing with others His grace, hope and peace. THEOLOGICAL BELIEFS: It is important that a ministry be rooted in Christ. Being Christ centered means having a ministry reflecting Christ’s ministry. Such a ministry encompasses a proper balance between faith, life-style, and doctrine. These three together enables a church to properly serve their community. It facilitates Christians getting involved in the lives of those in the community where they are ministering. To be Christ-like is serving those who are hurting and suffering just as Jesus served. Also, for a sermon to be Christ centered makes it possible for both the believer and the non-believer to simulate the lifestyle of Christ. Being Christ-like removes the focus off of oneself and places it on those of the community who are hurting and who have no knowledge of God. Our convictions come from the belief that the Bible is inspired by God and is our only and total authority for doctrine and life-style. CHURCH HISTORY: The Port Angeles Church of Christ first meet in homes in early 1950 to 1952 with visiting preachers coming on Sundays. Then in 1952 was constructed a building at the current address in which to meet and worship. 631540777 42994166

Creating School Kits

Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church is a caring community of Christians called to reach out to all people in our community and, as much as possible, the world. We welcome everyone, without exception. We extend ourselves to each other as a church family. We offer Christian education for young and older that is challenging and thought provoking. Pastor Jack’s sermons are original, inspiring and based on Bible scholarship. Our book discussion groups are stimulating, and the video presentations help us better understand the history and values of Christian life. This little church with a big heart works tirelessly with local organizations to share God’s love. Our congregation helps with and supports the Sequim Food Bank, Lutheran Community Services, Sequim Health and Wellness Clinic and the Light Lunch Program.

We also hold a community garage sale each summer and the Yuletide Bazaar in the fall. All monies made at these two events are distributed among organizations within the community. Additionally, we open our facilities for AA, NA and Al-Anon meetings, the Gay Straight Alliance for youth and MOSAIC. We also reach out internationally to share God’s love. Handmade quilts, school kits and baby kits are given out through Lutheran World Relief. Assistance is also offered to a Peace Corps volunteer in Costa Rica and mission work in Panama. Jesus showed us the gracious love of God for all people. We are called to do the same by helping others here and throughout the world and welcoming all who visit our small church with the big heart. God’s work. Our hands.

631540780

“We are Disciples of Christ, a movement of wholeness in a fragmented world. “As part of the one body of Christ we welcome all to the Lord’s Table as God welcomed us.” We move to answer God’s call for justice in the areas of care for the Earth, the challenges for women and children, poverty and hunger and immigration. Our church supports several local mission programs including Habitat for Humanity, VIMO, food banks and TAFY. Globally, we started and maintain a targeted mission to a remote village in the Philippines, facilitating the delivery and distribution of food, clothing and small toys on a regular basis. We are currently exploring a sustainable mission for a village in Togo. The music at First Christian Church varies from old favorites to the more contemporary. We have a “sing your favorite hymn session” on the fourth Sunday of every month.

You are invited to a space of love and acceptance, whoever you are, wherever you are on your path. We are a community that invites you to learn, discover and expand and share your gifts in the greater world. CSLPA is a space that remembers, fosters, and expresses Spirit in everyday moments.

Science of Mind & Spirit is a compilation of the great thoughts of the ages, the deep mystical yearnings of minds in search of God, and the modern approach to a faith, which can be demonstrated in its practice and teachings. It is a way of life focused on joy, freedom from fear, and justified by results. We focus on universal spiritual principles, presented in plain, simple, and direct ways, so we may each learn to live now, in the present, with the knowledge and trust that the Universe is for us and not against us. We are creating a new format for exploring your Divine Connection. We are unfolding a vision of an “everyday space” where you can come to connect, learn, grow, and experience and express Divine Love. You can go to church, synagogue, mosque, tribal gathering, or hang out in nature and still participate in our community. Our programs are intended to enhance your existing spiritual practices or assist you in developing your unique path to experiencing Spirit in every moment. Please join us at any of our gatherings.

Congregation Olympic B’nai Shalom

is a warm and welcoming Reform Jewish congregation serving Jewish and Interfaith families on the North Olympic Peninsula. We hold monthly services and adult cultural programs, as well as celebrating major Jewish festivals and High Holy Day celebrations. We rely on our very talented members to lead our services. We also host professional leaders / singers for festivals, and a student Rabbi for High Holy Days. COBS embraces the uniquely beautiful environment of the Olympic Peninsula in our celebrations, including a Shavuot service at Hurricane Ridge, a Rosh Hashanah dawn service overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and other outdoor services. COBS celebrates many family-focused festivals, including Tu B’Shevat, Purim, Pesach, Sukkot, and Hanukkah. Reform Judaism embraces the basic tenets of Judaism with a belief in God, in Torah and in Israel. We recognize that the practice of religion must change with the times in order to be relevant for our daily lives. We believe that we are God’s partners in strengthening and repairing the world, Tikkun Olam, as we work to restore peace, justice, and freedom to all people. The Torah is the heart of our Jewish life, a living document which gives us direction and helps us define our relationship to God and to the world and everyday life. Membership is diverse with people from reform, conservative and orthodox backgrounds. Others define themselves as culturally Jewish. Many members are interfaith couples. Our services reflect the interests and needs or our community and include both religious services and very popular programs in which members select Jewish topics of interest to them and present programs, including history, poetry, Kabbalah, etc. P.O. Church of

CHRIST in Sequim

The Church of Christ in Sequim started when a small number of Christians opened the Bible as their only guide in matters of faith and doctrine and wanted to be truly and only Christians. Each church of Christ is an autonomous group of believers that provides its own leaders, makes its own decisions and chooses its activities from Bible teaching. We honestly desire to be faithful to God’s purposes, to Jesus’ Lordship, and to the Bible’s message. New Testament Christians were human as we are. You will find that our members, as in the first century church, reflect every level of spiritual development. Hopefully, all of our members are mutually committed to growing spiritually and serving Jesus Christ wholeheartedly. Have you been looking for the New Testament Church?

to the ends of the earth; to make disciples of all nations.

We believe God is a Holy Trinity – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe Christ instituted seven Sacraments, which bring us God’s grace, and that as children of God, we are saved by grace, through faith. The origin of our Catholic Faith and belief comes from Holy Scripture, Holy Tradition, and

the Magisterium of the Church. The Eucharist, Holy Communion, is the source and summit of our Catholic Faith.

The Catholic community of Port Angeles built their first church in 1891. That building

was sold to the County in 1892 for use as the courthouse during the downtown reconstruction period. Queen of Angels Parish has been at its present location at 11th and Oak Street Streets since 1950. At the time “The Holy Angels Church” in Port Angeles was established, the Sequim area was considered part of that parish. A mission church was built in 1916; in 1966 a new mission church was erected; and in 1976, after 60 years as a mission church, St. Joseph was established as a full parish. In July 2011 the two parishes were appointed a single pastor to oversee each parish, and one year later a regional staffing model was implemented with one administrative staff for the two parishes. Today, the two parishes remain separate entities with their own identities, continuing to work as part of the universal Church by combining efforts on committees, consistency in policies, a single weekly bulletin, and joint celebration of Sacraments, etc.

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

he Christian Science Church, also known as The Church of Christ, Scientist, is a Christian denomination, with the Bible and especially Jesus’ teachings at the heart and soul of its practice. Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy states: “Jesus established his church and maintained his mission on a spiritual foundation of Christ-healing.” This is the continuing mission of the Christian Science Church. The practice of this system of Christian healing has resulted in significant cures of physical and mental problems for over a century, with many of these accounts available online. In Christian Science, God is seen as always upholding health and well-being. The power of prayer lies not in faith alone but in a deeper understanding of God’s divine laws that embrace humanity. Everyone can choose for themselves and their families the kind of health care that meets their needs. By practicing Christian Science, many have lived free of drugs and other systems of physical care. The Bible together with Science and Health serve as the universal Pastor for the worldwide Church, providing always available guidance and inspiration, as well as the sermons and readings for worship services. The activities and services of the Church are carried on by its members. Mary Baker Eddy founded the Christian Science Church in 1879. It includes The Mother Church in Boston, Massachusetts, and locally organized branch Churches of Christ, Scientist, worldwide, each providing Sunday worship services, a Sunday School, mid-week testimony meetings, public Reading Rooms, and lectures. Sunday Schools for students up to the age of twenty are discussion-based classes on the Bible and how to apply its timeless lessons to contemporary life. Wednesday meetings include testimonies of healing shared by those attending. Reading Rooms offer books and magazines on Christian Science, the Bible and Bible reference materials, and much more. Everyone is welcome to use all these resources and/or visit the website www.ChristianScience.com If you are interested in attending Christian Science services and finding out more about Christian Science, the Christian Science Churches of both Sequim and Port Townsend welcome you. They both hold Sunday services, Sunday School, Wednesday Testimony Meetings and have Christian Science Reading Rooms available.

Sequim Worship Center Were you as surprised as we were to see all of the signs of spring bursting forth so early in the year? With everything already seeming to be in bud or bloom it leaves one to wonder if winter really is over or will we be surprised by a late cold snap? Weather, it’s something that everyone talks (complains?) about, but no one seems to do anything about. Have you heard that before? It is one of those absurd things that people say because they don’t really like what’s going on, but can’t do anything about it. It is an area that we tend to feel totally helpless about. The weather isn’t the only area of our lives that can feel that way. In so many ways we can get to the place where we feel like our lives have gone spinning out of control. It is in such times that we look for a place of security, a place of hope. At Sequim Worship Center, we like to see ourselves as people who may not have it all figured out, but are on the journey to discover God’s plan for our lives. The more that we can put things

Engaging our world simply means sharing what we have learned and received with others. This is a multifaceted opportunity. It can be as close as sharing care for a neighbor who may be going through a difficult time to supporting missionaries who serve on the other side of the globe. It is the investment of our lives through our time, talents and/or treasure to make a difference in someone else’s life just as that difference has been made in ours. As I said before, it’s not that we have it all figured out, we just want to share the discoveries that we have found in our journey. If these areas of Worship, Investigation, Relationships and Engaging our world (or W.I.R.E.) interest you, we invite you to take a closer look. It would be an honor to share in your journey with you. We really can do this better together than alone. Sequim Worship Center meets each Sunday at 10:45 a.m. at 640 N. Sequim Ave., next to the Sequim Library. It is not about trying to change the things we can’t like the weather. It’s about changing the things we can like us.
