Over the past four years, the organization has contributed more than $130,000 directly to the Emergency Food Network. "We are amazed at the sum we were able to donate to the Emergency Food Network this year," said Transportation Club of Tacoma Director Lori Kincannon, who presented a check for $32,353 to Emergency Food Network officials earlier this month. "Our membership is proud to support this organization and help them accomplish their goals. We know that every dollar raised will be spent to help those in need in our local community." The Emergency Food Network of Pierce County began as a program in 1982 when the leadership of FISH Food Banks, Tacoma Rescue Mission, Salvation Army, and Associated Ministries recognized a community need to resource emergency food collectively. Originally designed to meet a temporary need caused by the economic

recession of the 1980s, the Emergency Food Network became an independent non-profit organization in 1991. The Pierce County emergency food system includes 70 food banks and hot meal sites providing over 15 million meals annually. More information is available online efoodnet. org.

The 90-year-old, 500-member Transportation Club of Tacoma is a non-profit organization made up of transportation professionals, as well as people who have an interest in local and global transportation and logistics. More information is available online at transportationcluboftacoma. org.

Tacoma issues RFP for Council Chambers improvements The City of Tacoma has issued a Request For Proposals (RFP) from contractors to complete a project to complete improvements to the Council Chambers (pictured) at Tacoma City Hall, according to a legal notice published this month in the Tacoma Daily Index. Bid documents prepared by City staff show the project includes interior framing and gypsum board installation, new interior finishes, casework, doors, frames and hardware, and electrical and low voltage systems. The project budget is estimated at $150,000 to $200,000. The bid deadline expires at 11 a.m. on Tues., Feb. 9. A pre-bid meeting will be held on Weds., Jan. 27, in the Council Chambers at the Tacoma Municipal Building, located at 747 Market St., in downtown Tacoma.
