A NEW CANC ER CENTER COMING TO OVERLAKE MEDICAL CENTER transformational changes in care, rising cancer rates on the Eastside and a dedicated focus on providing the best care for our community are inspiring Overlake’s efforts to create the most comprehensive and advanced cancer center in the region.

Overlake has been providing our community top-tier cancer care for 40 years, with highly-skilled specialists in virtually all forms of cancer, some of the most technologically advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities in the region and rigorous quality standards. We have been doing so with our uniquely compassionate and personal touch for our patients and their families that has given us patient satisfaction ratings showing nearly 100 percent of patients would return and refer Overlake to family and friends.

Growing Need for Cancer Care

We expect an increase of 15 to 42 percent in the most common cancers over the next 10 years on the Eastside. In addition, the emergence of personalized medicine, such as genetic counseling and genomic tumor assessment, as well as supportive services including acupuncture and physical therapy, are improving outcomes and quality of life.

And with more people living with cancer longer, there is increasing need for ongoing care for cancer survivors.

Overlake is therefore setting out to create an innovative, leading-edge cancer center slated to begin construction in spring 2016 and open in mid-2017. The center will provide highly individualized, comprehensive care from screening and diagnosis through treatment and maintaining the health of survivors. The new facility will be: > Comprehensive: The center will increase the breadth of services available on-site, including genetic counseling, palliative care, acupuncture, physical therapy, psychological care and survivorship services. > Accessible: The design will focus on patients’ and families’ needs, with an integrated multidisciplinary clinic offering virtually all care in one location. > Coordinated: The co-location of care providers, including oncologists, referring physicians and complementary service providers, will promote teamwork to develop and implement individualized plans

and facilitate close community partnerships. > Healing: Welcoming surroundings, natural light and comfortable exam rooms will contribute to a healing patient experience. > Growing: An expanded footprint will allow us to increase capacity by 20 percent. > Forward-thinking: The center will help us continue to attract top physicians and clinical staff so we always deliver the highest quality care, and ensure our ability to adopt emerging technologies and treatments.

Overlake’s cancer center will be unlike any other in the region not only in its cohesive and integrated approach, but in the improvement of the patient experience, outcomes and quality of life.
