For most high school athletes their seasons end when the regular season does but for Bonney Lake’s Michael Gretler that isn’t how his senior year played out. Michael along with the Panthers baseball team fought its way to the 3A state championship game extending its season by nine games. The Panthers lost its final game 12-0 to O’Dea for the state title. Despite the outcome of the game, Michael said to play in the championship game as a senior was an “unbelievable experience that I will remember for the rest of my life.” Ever since entering high school, Michael and his teammates had the goal of reaching that final game and every year, he said they would get “closer and closer but this year we were able to put everything together.” Even though the end of the season was

Threatening calls spur lockdown Hawks join Kahne By Kevin Hanson Senior Writer
Students at a pair of White River schools spent their final days in somewhat eerie surroundings, with classroom doors locked and Buckley police keeping a watchful eye on their buildings. The drama began the morning of June 11 when staff at the White River School District’s administration building received threatening phone calls. Out of concern for student safety, two nearby schools – Glacier Middle School and Elk

Ridge Elementary – went into “semi-lockdown” status. That meant students continued on their normal schedule, but classroom doors were locked, as were exterior doors. Students were not allowed outdoors and police remained at both schools and the administration building, while some parents responded to retrieve their kids.
