Happy Fourth of July Happy

Kids can make a difference too!! That is the mission Creative Children for Charity (3c) is after. They inspire children and teens to volunteer their time and talent to raise money for social causes through art and crafts. Creative Children for Charity provides a fun and engaging environment where children and teens can create arts & craft to benefit charitable causes while supporting a spirit of social consciousness. This summer Chirag and Amol, co-founders of 3c are closely collaborating with City of Sammamish and SAMMI Awards to host Summer Splash during the 4th of July Fireworks. Summer Splash is a fun and interactive way for kids to have lots of fun while painting. The community will come together to paint canvases. They will be using four different themes: Water, Fire, Wind and Earth. Kids also get to add paint to the canvases through paintbrush splattering, sponge soaking and even handprint pressing! Their plan is to raise $2,000 towards SAMMI Awards to boost their yearly goal. At the event they will also have people paint their own creation to reflect freedom and independence sentiment. Each canvas will have their own colors. All proceeds will go to SAMMI Awards helping them a lot. To get tickets for this awesome event go to www.meylah.com/3c.

Food Drive 2013 This September the City of Sammamish will be once again partnering with the ARAS Foundation for the Mayor’s Month of Concern Food Drive. Volunteers around the city collect thousands of pounds of food each fall for local families in need. Volunteers and community organizations hand out flyers to shoppers on Saturdays between Sept 14 and October 5 with suggested food donations and food that rolls in. Other organizations and neighborhoods hold their own drives in coordination with this event. This year the Mayor has set a collection goal of over 30,000 lbs of food. If your organization would like to join in the 2013 food drive, sign up by contacting volunteer coordinator Dawn Sanders, dsanders@ sammamish.us or 425.295.0556.
