After 27 years come “Duck into Fun” Welcome to the 27th Annual IKEA Renton River Days, with activities in Liberty Park on July 27-29. Celebrate this year’s festival theme “Duck into Fun!” and discover the diverse offerings that showcase Renton’s passion for music, art, food, active lifestyle, community organizations and our citizens. With different events and activities for all generations, the festival brings the community together for a mid-summer showcase of fun and entertainment. As the official guide for IKEA Renton River Days, this special section of the Renton Reporter contains all the locations, times, and spotlight features to help you plan for your favorite events with family and friends. Twenty planning committees and 250 volunteers have been working diligently to ensure there will be something for everyone at the festival this year. Back by popular demand, is the Ducklings & Dragons Scavenger Hunt during the festival weekend, July 27-29, at Liberty Park. With daily clues from the Duck Hunt III Booth, you’ll be sent on a duck-filled fantasy adventure exploring all of Liberty Park. Come each day for a new epic quest. And new this year, is the Alternative Energy Car Show on Saturday, July 28, on the backside of the Renton Community Center. The Wenatchee Youth Circus will perform three shows at Cedar River Park (July 27 at 1:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and July 28 at 1:30 p.m.). See page 8 for a complete listing of FREE Weekend Fun for Kids. Outdoor entertainment is non-stop with nearly 40 performing groups on two stages in Liberty Park. See page 23 for the entire line-up of stage entertainment. I hope many of you have been participating in The Duck Hunt III. With daily clues via Facebook and Twitter feeds, explore the greater Renton city limits for 30 decorated ducks at various business and community locations. Turn in your completed form at Liberty Park for a chance at winning prizes.

Duck Hunt III AND Ducklings & Dragons Scavenger Hunt

Duck Hunt III

Clues sponsored by:

A Case of Fowl Play Sherflock Holmesʼs friend Doctor Ducky has been ducknapped by a real bad egg!

Itʼs time to round up the usual duckspects!

The fowl ducknapper left a ransom note – but not in one piece. Sherflock has found out that 30 duckspects in 30 different locations in Renton each have part of the ransom note to prove their alibi – in the form of a stamp. When you find a duck, you will stamp your Duck Hunt sheet by the name of the duck you found. Finding all the ducks will give you the ransom note – undoubtedly in the form of a final clue. Figure out what the ducknapper wants and bring the ransom to Sherflockʼs helpers at IKEA Renton River Days to save Doctor Ducky.

Osgood Josephine

Har Do

Even if you donʼt find all the duckspects, bring your Duck Hunt sheet to the booth. The more duckspects you find, the more chances you have to win prizes when you bring your form to the Duck Hunt booth during Renton River Days. (If you bring the ransom, you will get an even bigger chance to win.) Sherflock welcomes all help, so each member of a family can have his or her own form.

ck er

Donʼt worry, the mysterious ducknapper likes to play games. He plans on giving clues to the suspects locations – a few at a time. So go to www.facebook.com/RentonRiverDays to find clues to where the duckspects are hiding. The ducknapper will keep giving out clues throughout the month leading up to Renton River Days. Also check out the Renton Reporter for information on the hunt.

Back by popular demand and brought to you by Duck Hunt III Sponsor - First Savings Bank Northwest, Clue Sponsors CenturyLink and TwinStar Credit Union, and organizer Lone Shark Games, Duck Hunt III “A Case of Fowl Play,” takes participants on a search throughout Renton the month before the festival. With daily clues via www.facebook.com/rentonriverdays and www.twitter.com/rentonriverdays, turn your completed player’s form in to the Duck Hunt III booth at Liberty Park, July 27-29, for a chance at winning prizes. Also returning this year, the Ducklings & Dragons Scavenger Hunt, sponsored by Wizards of the Coast, will send festival-goers on a duck-filled fantasy adventure throughout Liberty Park, July 27-29; come each day for a new epic quest.

Feed the People, Build a Duck Support the Renton Salvation Army Rotary Food Bank - Food Drive by bringing non-perishable canned food items to Liberty Park, July 27-29. Instead of just collecting the cans, as is done in traditional food drives, food drive planners and participating supporters will take an artistic approach by creating an interactive duck art piece, named “SalvArte,” that will be built and created throughout the festival. “SalvArte” will take on a life of its own. The more cans donated, the more elaborate and larger the art piece will be. Residents and festivalgoers are asked to “feed the people, not the ducks” this summer and assist those in need. Donations can be brought to the Renton Salvation Army Rotary Food Bank Information Booth located in Gianini Stadium in Liberty Park (hand-crafted arts and crafts vendor area) during festival hours. For information on how to help the local Renton Salvation Army Rotary Food Bank, call 425-255-5969.
