We gave our readers the opportunity to vote for their favorite people, places and things in the City of Renton. We had more than 1,000 of your neighbors and friends who either voted on our web site or by sending in their ballot by mail. This year we had a few newbies in the neighborhood stand out. For instance in the Fitness Center category, Planet Fitness came in second; what a way to end its first year! Another fairly new business, Eyes on The Landing, came in second in the Optometrist category; way to go! Vino at The Landing was first place in the Wine category with Red House trailing right behind. If you’re looking for a new hairstylist, Brag Hair won Best Hair Salon and Best Service. There are great places and people right here in Renton. The

Officer Reynolds is often a mentor to Renton High students [BEST OF from page 1] problems or have to investigate a minor crime. Reynolds is both the “hammer” and a mentor to youth who don’t have parents at home. “That gives me a big joy to be able to help some of these kids and give them a bit of fatherly advice when they can’t get it other places,” he said. “I’m just here if they need to talk.”

Reynolds feels that Renton High School had a bad reputation for awhile unfairly because of a handful of students. He said his job is made easier by the efforts of Principal Damien Pattenaude who’s straightened things out since he came to the school. “These kids are our greatest generation,” Reynolds said. “They’re the brightest and the hardest working and the most kind.” He believes that the current genera-
