LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT - Donna Etchey Welcome to 2012!! Your new board of directors met on January 10th and we started planning out the year and new committees. I am very excited to be working with this group of business members. I believe they will all bring a great deal of knowledge and a new perspective to your chamber. If you are interested in getting involved or you have some area of expertise, we NEED you. 2012 is going to be a very dynamic year, stay tuned and check the chamber’s website often to see what is happening. For my first official column of the New

Year, I thought I would start with some Time Management tips, that everyone can use. TIME MANAGEMENT Plan each Day – The best time to plan your day is Sunday night before the week even starts. Mark in the important objectives and goal items of the upcoming week. Tackle the Toughest Job First – Don’t procrastinate on those unpleasant or arduous tasks; chances are they are the most important on your list. When you tackle the worst first, the rest of the day will be easier sailing. Learn to Say No – As you’re about to raise your hand, pause for a moment and ask yourself “Is it really necessary for me to do this”? MEMBER SPOTLIGHT- Johnny Walker, Almost Candid Photography Beginning with a commitment to “give back” and support the local communities of greater Kingston and the North Kitsap Peninsula, Johnny Walker formed Almost Candid Photography in 2011 as part of J. Walker Enterprise LLC to help fill a gap in local photojournalism, small business marketing, and art photography. Almost a year later, his trademark fedora is widely recognized behind the lens at many regional events ranging from festivals to sports, and family gatherings to politics. Almost Candid Photography began as a mobile business taking the lens to customers. Though preferring the use of natural settings and light, portable backdrops and lighting were soon added to provide for more traditional portrait requests and wedding support. A physical studio for appointment only is expected to be available in the spring

of 2012. Combined with an existing computer lab for digital processing, local production of standard sized prints is available. Packages, bulk orders and custom sizes became available in collaboration with Smugmug online services in December. As a Kingston based cottage business, samples of Johnny’s work can be seen online at www.almostcandid.net and on facebook at Almost Candid Photography. Gallery prints are sponsored by the Cuppa Bella Bagelry & Espresso Café on highway 104 at the Kingston IGA mall. Drop in and tell them Johnny sent you. As an early part time business started in 2004, Johnny Walker also provides music entertainment and audio support as the iPJ – or digital disc jockey. With over 5,000 song titles, a 500-watt portable system is ideal for music at dinners,

lectures, small parties and events but for those who really want to rock, a 1300-Watt system was added for larger dances and venues. Almost Candid Photography and the iPJ are enterprise services of J. Walker Enterprise LLC, formed in 2011 as an umbrella of several service options, including security program consulting, physical design, and technology development. www.almostcandid.net • (360) 297-1347

finish all my copy by noon.” Perfection can Paralyze – Know when to say when. The pursuit of perfection is noble but you have to be mindful of productivity. Find Quiet Time – Need to get away from people, phones and other distractions? Do it. Find your oasis of high productivity. Many high performers arrive at work an hour early to enjoy the oasis. Personal Habits – Keep your work area neat and tidy, your work tools and materials handy and your files in good order. Take a minute or two before you leave at the end of the day to straighten up your desk and office. Just Do It – It’s the best way to get things done.
