Donations reach $32K Giving to Poulsbo Lions Bellringer passes 2010 mark POULSBO — A lot of car washes are going to do a lot of good in the community. Mike’s Car Wash in Poulsbo presented a check for $2,200 to the Poulsbo Lions Bellringer Fund on Thursday, bringing the campaign total to $32,561. Donations surpassed last year’s campaign total of $25,590. The check from Mike’s Car Wash reflects a portion of revenue from car washes set aside for the Poulsbo Lions Bellringer Fund since November. Donations to fund are used to provide food, emergency shelter and emergency financial assistance to North Kitsap residents in need. The fund was founded in the See BELLRINGER, Page A13

KINGSTON — A vehicle collision on Hansville Road Dec. 30 raised the total number of injury

collisions on that road to 56 in approximately a six-year period. The latest crash occurred near Three Berry Lane, the same location of a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a Jeep Cherokee Sept. 23. Three people were sent to Harrison Medical Center Dec. 30; North Kitsap Fire & Rescue, the Poulsbo Fire Department and other law enforcement went to the scene. NKF&R spokeswoman Michele Laboda said crews were

dispatched at 2:11 p.m. The driver of a red sedan, in her 20s, was heading northbound on Hansville Road when she apparently crossed into the southbound lane. A 57-year-old male driver of an older Ford F250 truck attempted to avoid the sedan before the two vehicles collided head-on in the southbound lane shoulder. Rose project was one of top events of 2011 July ■ Poulsbo City Council approves Rose project: Edward Rose & Sons’ proposed neighborhood at State Route 305 and Bond Road was approved June 28 in a special meeting. The 55-acre neighborhood will have 540 apartments on 46 acres — 11.7 units per acre — with a community center and swimming pool and a

central park. The project also includes a commercial area with an unknown number of apartments and a 160room senior care apartments on 9.2 acres. Under the current plans, a road will be developed from Bond Road to Vetter Road, with vehicle connections to 305 and pedestrian connections to Viking Way. Paul
