IMPACT REPORT SPRING 2025

Pacific Northwest FCA

Dear Champions,

EVERY COACH. EVERY ATHLETE. EVERY SPORT. EVERY COMMUNITY. EVERY GENERATION.

At PNW FCA, we are witnessing God’s faithfulness in an extraordinary way As you know, our mission is to lead EVERY coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church This past year, your faithful support helped us embrace this calling and extend the reach of the Gospel like never before Together, we are stepping boldly into what we call the Era of Every

With the sports landscape rapidly evolving over 55 million kids now participating in off-campus club and league sports annually the need to meet athletes and coaches where they are has never been greater. This cultural shift, paired with the ongoing mental health crisis, presents unprecedented challenges Barna Group’s recent findings paint a sobering picture:

40% of high school students have felt persistent sadness or hopelessness

1 in 5 seriously considered suicide in the past year

Over 20% of Gen Z adults now identify as LGBTQ

These statistics reflect what our staff is seeing across the Pacific Northwest. But we know the hope that Jesus offers, and FCA is positioned to be a beacon of that hope. Our role is to create environments collision zones where athletes and coaches can encounter Jesus through authentic relationships with mentors, neighbors, and disciple-makers like you. By engaging them in meaningful relationships, we’re pointing them to God’s Word and empowering them to live transformed lives, impacting their communities for Christ

The stories and numbers in this report are a direct result of your generosity and prayers. None of this is possible without you. Thank you for championing the mission of FCA and for partnering with us to make these life-changing collisions happen. Together, we are seeing lives transformed, hearts renewed, and God’s Kingdom expanded through the power of the Gospel.

COACHES TIMEOUT

In February, the Greater Portland FCA team hosted Coaches TimeOut (CTO), a marriage ministry that provides space for coaches and their spouses to invest in their relationship and be challenged to grow in their walk with Christ. There were 58 couples who said “yes” to taking a pause from daily life to connect with their spouse, be renewed spiritually and receive encouragement through fellowship with other coaching couples in the room and the messages shared throughout the weekend. The keynote speakers, Brian and Cheri Beltramo shared a message of hope that encouraged the couples in the room to pursue a missional marriage in Jesus They expressed how winning can’t happen with a “you versus me” mindset in marriage and gave practical tips to continually seek to be on the same team

LIFE CHAN

One attendee shared this about her experience: “It’s an opportunity to get real with each other and reconnect We get to work through things with like-minded couples God is present and this retreat has helped our marriage grow We get to be vulnerable with each other in a safe place Literally one of my most looked forward to weekends of the year!”

STORY OF TRANSFORMATION

Just a year ago, Lucien, a collegiate wrestler at Linfield University, had little to no personal relationship with Jesus. Heading into the 2023 wrestling season, he was confident that this would be “his year.” But when he suffered a full tear in his right shoulder labrum, everything changed Unable to compete or fully participate in practice, Lucien found himself sidelined and struggling with a growing sense of hopelessness While waiting to see if surgery was an option, he did what workouts he could to stay strong But the season he had envisioned was slipping away. During this time, a Bible study had been meeting weekly before practice, and Lucien had been invited multiple times But each time, he found an excuse not to go “In all honesty, I was scared to take that leap of faith,” he admitted.

One day, Lucien went to turn in his medical redshirt paperwork, but when no one was in the office, he decided to head to practice early. On his way to the wrestling room, he was invited one more time to join the Bible study This moment changed everything

Shortly after attending his first study, his hunger for God’s Word became evident. He was given an FCA Wrestling Bible, which quickly became a guide for his new journey. “This Bible serves as a roadmap for my life, teaching me to meditate on and reflect upon the Word through the devotionals in the back,” Lucien shared.

What could have been a season of disappointment became the season that God used to transform his life Lucien began regularly attending church, reading his Bible daily, and developing a personal relationship with Christ through prayer

In August of 2024, he took a bold step of faith and publicly declared his commitment to Jesus through baptism Less than a year after stepping into that Bible study for the first time, Lucien is now sharing his testimony with others, living on mission both on and off the mat. His story is a powerful reminder of how God moves through discipleship and the impact of investing in the lives of coaches and athletes. Because of the generosity of FCA supporters, more athletes like Lucien are encountering Jesus, growing in faith, and being sent out as disciples who make disciples.

NEW MINISTRY THEME - “GLORY”

This year, FCA is taking coaches and athletes on a discipleship journey through our annual ministry theme: Glory What’s the truth we want coaches and athletes to experience this year? They were created to reflect God's glory. When you give God the glory instead of seeking your own, the weight of pressure and expectations placed on you is lifted Learn more about the new ministry theme at pnwfca.org/ministry-resources

Boise Baseball Facility Update

In the heart of Boise’s baseball community, a game-changing project is taking shape one that isn’t just about home runs and strikeouts, but about lasting impact FCA Baseball is partnering with Living Hope Bible Church to develop a dedicated baseball and softball facility, addressing the growing need for exclusive places to play as local teams struggle for field time.

“With so many teams competing for space, it’s been a challenge to find consistent practice fields,” explains Sean Rooney, FCA Baseball Director “As our program grows, we need a place of our own not just for convenience, but to create more discipleship opportunities within our teams ”

That vision is now becoming reality on unused acres behind Living Hope Bible Church, a ministry-aligned partner eager to provide space for community impact. The new multidimension field will serve baseball players ages 8-13 and all ages of softball, while also supporting soccer, lacrosse, and football.

But this project is about more than just baseball “More facilities mean more places for discipleship,” says Sean This field will bring security to current teams, allow for expansion, and remove the stress of scheduling conflicts More than a place to play, it will be a gathering point for coaches, parents, and families to grow in faith.

Beyond practices and games, FCA envisions camps, clinics, and even coaching development opportunities As the program grows, tournaments and additional sports ministries may follow

“The most exciting part is seeing how God will move through this facility,” Sean shares. “This field represents more than baseball it’s a place where athletes will encounter Jesus, coaches will be strengthened in faith, and families will find a Christ-centered community ”

The goal of any FCA environment is that coaches and athletes would have an opportunity to see, meet and experience Jesus It’s amazing to imagine the Kingdom impact in the lives of athletes, coaches, and families who step onto this field.

Staff Feature: Brandon Taylor – FCA Golf

For Brandon Taylor, sports were a way of life. With a father who coached collegiate soccer, he grew up immersed in athletics. Severe asthma led him to explore other sports, and one trip to the golf course was all it took he was hooked

Brandon’s passion for golf carried him through high school championships, college All-American honors, and seven years of competing on mini tours worldwide. Eventually, God led him to the club pro side of the industry, where he built a career in golf instruction and management.

Despite a lifetime in sports, Brandon hadn’t encountered FCA until adulthood Searching for balance between work and faith, he felt disenchanted with the demands of the golf industry Through a connection with some currently on staff, he learned about FCA and saw an opportunity to merge his love for golf with ministry. He answered the call to launch FCA Golf in the Pacific Northwest.

His vision is to build a community of golfers invested in discipleship. Through FCA Huddles, a Bible study for Northwest PGA professionals, and an FCA Golf League, he hopes to create spaces where golfers grow in faith together. He’s also guiding the Santiam Christian golf teams in their journey to the OSAA State Tournament “God has used golf to teach me valuable lessons about integrity, hard work, and perseverance,” Brandon shares “Above all, He’s shown me that my identity is in Him, not in my accomplishments ”

As he steps into this new role, Brandon asks for prayer for clarity, provision, and steadfastness in Christ. “This journey has already been filled with unexpected blessings,” he says. “God is moving in ways I never imagined, and I pray that I keep my eyes fixed on Him alone.” FCA Golf in the Pacific Northwest is just beginning, and Brandon’s passion for the sport and discipleship is set to make a lasting impact
