We are excited to introduce you to Ryan Moon, an inspiring young man with a powerful story. Ryan is a brain cancer survivor who, as a child, faced incredible challenges with courage and determination He recently completed his undergraduate studies at UCLA graduating cum laude and is set to attend medical school in the fall of 2025, with the goal of becoming a pediatric neuro-oncologist. His dream is to help children who are battling the same illness he overcame.
In the year between now and his medical school enrollment, Ryan is eager to give back to the community that supported him He has the unique opportunity to work at the Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Consortium (PNOC) directly with Dr. Sabine Mueller.
PNOC, a global network of over 40 children’s hospitals, is dedicated to advancing pediatric brain cancer research through clinical trials and data sharing. Over the past decade, PNOC has enrolled over 1,000 patients in 35 + innovative clinical trials, many of whom had very few options left.
Since his successful treatment at UCSF, Ryan has followed PNOC’s work closely and diligently attended lab tours and disease specific webinars to stay informed on their current work. Ryan would work with the tumor board, a role that will not only provide him with invaluable experience but also allow him to earn money to support his medical education.
Fortunately, we have a generous donor who has pledged to match every dollar raised, meaning we need to secure just $28,000 in the next 30 days to make this happen.
This is a win-win situation for everyone involved. PNOC will benefit from Ryan’s help, and he will gain critical experience in the field he is passionate about. Your support will enable Ryan to contribute to important work at PNOC while preparing for his future career in pediatric neuro-oncology
