AUN award degrees to 234 graduates in Adamawa

The Management of the American University of Nigeria, AUN Yola has awarded Bachelor degrees and master degree certificates on different academic disciplines to 234 graduating students .

Presiding over the University’s fourteen (14th) commencement (convocation) ceremony class of 2023 in Yola, Adamawa state capital weekend, Interim President of the University, Attahir Yusuf said all the graduating students have trained both in learning and character equipped with the needed skills to face global challenges in all ramifications.

Yusuf explained that with the excellent performance of records of the University, students are being admitted from Nigeria and other African countries who are grilled in different professional courses that will contribute in changing the fortunes of the societies for good.

He therefore charged the outgoing students to be good ambassadors of the institution wherever they found themselves as witnessed with the excellent testimonies accorded by their predecessors.

The interim president also announced the conferment of honorary doctorate degree upon professor Benedict Oramah of Afreximbank in recognition of his exemplary service in the public sector.

In his speech,guest speaker at the ceremony and president / chairman, Board of Directors, African Export and Import Bank (Afreximbank), Prof. Benedict Oramah commended the wisdom of founder and former Vice president Atiku Abubakar for floating an academic learning institution like AUN in the country.

While observing the dwindling economic misfortunes facing the country, Professor Oramah pointed out that over dependence on oil revenue causing the woes.

Oramah said the paopulation of the country could not be smoothly managed on a mono economic template urgeing the graduating students to use the knowledge acquired to transform Nigeria from an importing country to a producing nation.

“A revolution is sweeping camps; the freedom fighters for this new battle are being trained in technical front with ideas, hard work and investments. While bravery was required to fundamentally alter our world, shatter old assumptions and reshape our lives, the current revolutionaries are of a different breed.

“It is peaceful and will be in factory floors and tech incubation centres. Instead of guns, the battle will be tech and not armed guerrillas; ideas and not bullets will constitute the potent. Courage is a necessity for the economic liberation struggle.”
