2022 ANNUAL REPORT

DEAR FRIENDS OF PRAIRIE MEADOWS,

Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino has continued to serve our guests and our community by fulfilling our purpose, not only as an entertainment establishment, but as a nonprofit. We’re proud to say that 2022 was the strongest fiscal year in our history. We’ve deepened our partnerships with Polk County, the state of Iowa, and many organizations this past year, laying the foundation for further growth. And it is my great honor to thank you for your continued support of Prairie Meadows. Our team is proud of how we’ve been able to serve our guests and our community.

When Prairie Meadows began operations in 1989, we envisioned a long-term goal of promoting economic development, jobs, agriculture, and tourism for the state of Iowa. We continue to uphold this purpose today. As we grow, so does our impact.

At Prairie Meadows, we believe in the power of giving back. Through our gaming taxes and charitable contributions, we have helped transform the lives of thousands in central Iowa communities. Since 1996, our community betterment contributions, have provided more than $2.1 billion. From supporting the arts to funding numerous park programs to helping fight hunger in Polk County. Prairie Meadows continued our commitment to revitalizing and strengthening the Greater Des Moines area. Best of all, the projects that we are so proud to support and fund will serve our communities for years to come.

Our sincerest thanks to our dedicated team at Prairie Meadows, as they’ve come together to build something unique. On a daily basis, our team puts our core values of respect, integrity, teamwork, and excellence into practice. Prairie Meadows would not be where it is today without the commitment of the volunteers, business leaders, elected officials, and others that believe in our vision. I am humbled to lead the Prairie Meadows team, and am eager for our plans in this upcoming year.

POLK COUNTY PARTNERSHIP

Through Prairie Meadows’ unique partnership with Polk County, we work to strengthen and expand opportunities, infrastructure, and services offered within the community. Our partnership enables us to reinvest millions per year into the community to improve the lives of those who live and work here. From improving the health and well-being of area children to renovating and revitalizing city parks, our partnership helps the lives of thousands of Iowans who call Polk County home.

Over the years, our funding has given life to the ICON Water Trails project for Greater Outdoors Foundation, Wesley Community

Services’ Meals on Wheels initiative, construction of a new headquarters building for Des Moines Area Religious Council for storage and distribution of food and personal items, renovation of the Knapp Center on Drake University’s campus, and countless other initiatives throughout the community. Our work, in conjunction with that of many other public-private partnerships, is building a vibrant, dynamic Polk County. Collectively, we are proud to stand with these organizations as we all work to make our communities areas of excellence. To work within central Iowa communities is an honor – and one we could not do alone.
