Appendix 5 – Certificate II in Music
Do you like to play an instrument and/or sing? Maybe you prefer the production of music such as setting up sound systems, recording and mixing. Maybe you like writing songs or raps. Maybe you want to know how to earn money for yourself and others through creating music and sound, marketing, media or managing.
The CUA20620 Certificate II in Music has been designed for all of this and more. Successful completion of this course means you graduate with a nationally recognised qualification in Music, delivered by Peter Moyes Anglican Community School and awarded by the Registered Training Organisation (RTO), the College of Music and Sound Productions (COSAMP).
Students will complete 3 core units: • BSBTWK201 Work effectively with others • BSBWHS211 Contribute to the health and Safety of self and others • CUAIND211 Develop and apply creative arts industry knowledge.
In addition, students will complete 5 elective units chosen from: • CUAMCP211 Incorporate technology into music making • CUAMPF111 Develop skills to play or sing music • CUAMPF214 Perform music from simple written notation • CUAMPF211 Perform simple musical pieces • CUASOU211 Develop basic audio skills and knowledge • CUASOU212 Perform basic sound editing • CUASOU213 Assist with sound recordings • CUAMPF112 Perform simple musical parts in ensembles • CUAMLT211 Develop musical ideas and knowledge
Assessment
All nationally recognised courses use a competency-based approach to assessment. Students are assessed against standard criteria and judged to be competent or not competent. This is based on a variety of evidence such as tests, observations, quizzes, interviews or portfolios.
