While the average human body temperature is around 37°C, a dog's normal body temperature sits between 38°C and 39°C, meaning they are already running hotter than we are before the warm weather even begins.
To regulate their temperature, dogs rely primarily on panting. This process allows them to expel warm air from their lungs and replace it with cooler air from their surroundings. They will also seek out cool surfaces such as tiles, concrete or shaded ground to help transfer excess body heat away from their bodies.

One of the greatest dangers to dogs during the summer is being left inside a vehicle. Even on a relatively mild day, temperatures inside a car can rise dramatically within minutes.
