Twenty years ago, Plum Bottom Gallery began as a small pottery gallery with a simple idea: create a place where handcrafted work could be appreciated and shared. We had no master plan to become what we are today—just a passion for great craftsmanship and a belief that artists deserved a place where their work could truly shine.
Over the years, one step at a time, that vision grew. We began adding artists working in new mediums— painting, sculpture, glass, jewelry, wood, fiber, and more. Each artist brought something unique, and together they shaped the character of Plum Bottom. What started as a single pottery gallery slowly blossomed into four distinct gallery locations representing more than 150 exceptional artists from across the country.

Cindy Bowen is from Nashville, Tennessee. She received her Bachelor of Arts/Business from Spring Hill College (Mobile, Alabama) and Masters of Education from Belmont University (Nashville), where she was later an adjunct professor, teaching “Art Methods in the Classroom”. After having used her creative and business talents in the Music Entertainment industry for over 15 years, she decided to follow her dreams as an artist and began painting and teaching art in 2004. She has private studios (Studio BE), in both Nashville and Washington Island, Wisconsin, where she and her husband are summer residents. It is in those two spaces where she creates her mixed media works and teaches inspirational art workshops for adults. She sells her current works in galleries across the United States.

Introducing Sue Ellibee
Sue Ellibee’s collage artwork is an extension of her lifelong work in graphic design. In her collage pieces, she uses elements of color and texture to create her own interpretation of nature. This artistic direction has given Ellibee the opportunity to apply her visual skills in a new way—interpreting and simplifying the natural landscape.
She paints papers and creates textures on recycled grocery-store bags, with kraft paper backgrounds forming the visual vocabulary of her work. Thinner, lightweight bags allow her to layer papers for her floral compositions.
Working on these collages has been a joy for Ellibee and has allowed her to explore new ways of seeing the world around her.
She recently moved back to Wisconsin after spending nine years in Georgia and Tennessee. While the southern mountains are beautiful, the Midwest is where her roots are. Ellibee has immersed herself in all things Wisconsin, and her artwork reflects both the feeling of coming home and the experience of seeing familiar landscapes with fresh eyes.

A Feature On Grant Noren
lngela Noren and Daniel Grant are the inheritors of a Scandinavian tradition. The early craftsmen who developed their method of “faux finishing” reproduced exotic stones and wood on furniture and building interiors. Over the centuries, perfect representation became less important than artistry and originality.
All of Noren and Grant’s works are hand painted on wood. As taught by an old master in Stockholm, they first apply an under layer of sealing stain or paint. They then mix pigment with a milk-based emulsion, creating glazes that they apply and manipulate with a diverse set of tools. There are metal and rubber combs, many-headed brushes for creating grain and veins, rags, sponges, stippling brushes, and even their own fists and fingers. At the end, a final varnish is applied to protect the work and impart a commanding sheen.
Noren and Grant’s partnership began in 1986 in Pietrasanta, Italy, where they worked as marble sculptors. lngela Noren, a renowned weaver, studied art and craft in Sweden, her native country, including faux finish techniques. Daniel Grant, a skilled and professional marble sculptor and painter, studied art and philosophy in California. He made custom furniture and cabinets before joining Noren in their combined artistic venture in 1994.
