SSMU Acknowledges Engineering Superiority Reuters MONTREAL - There were mixed feelings at last night’s SSMU council after a controversial motion was passed demanding that the SSMU, AUS, SUS, MUS, and all other faculty associations accept the Engineering Faculty as Supreme Governor of student affairs. Although this motion was long anticipated by many student political insiders, it was shocking to many, nonetheless. To summarize, the motion stipulates that all initiatives brought forward by other student groups on campus be subject to the wisdom and reason of the Engineering student council. “It was inevitable,” says one SSMU councillor who wishes to remain anonymous. “SSMU is basically just made up of artsies, and even the other faculties who do have a

better grasp of the world’s physical properties are still at a loss when it comes to applying these principles in real life. It’s not their fault, but it was about time that someone stood up and did something about it,” he continued. However, the motion was not without its detractors. Sandra Coyote, U3 Housekeeping, was among the most vocal critics. “This is an abomination” she shouted. “It is vital for arts students across campus to use their time in undergraduate studies to at least pretend they are making a difference in people’s lives. By passing this motion, the SSMU has shattered the illusion of our perceived importance.” She then continued to threaten to unleash the wrath of a thousand angry suns by throwing rocks at anyone wearing a

hard hat or lab coat on campus. A majority of councillors ultimately did agree though that their affairs were best left in the hands of those more capable. “It’s time to stop pretending we know what we’re doing,” said a U1 Management Representative. EUS President Danielle Kérastase supported the decision. “We already run everything worth going to,” she said. “OAP, O-Week, E-Week, et cetera. It really won’t be too much of a burden on our executives and their committees to take over the work of every other student politician on campus.” The motion is set to take effect in the 2011-2012 academic year and will subject to referendum every hundred years.
