West Parkside is a master planning and development project on the West Parkside neighborhood in West Philadelphia. While there are some programs on the 108-acre site, it remains largely undeveloped. The goal was to redevelop the site to better serve the community, filling the land with more residential, commercial, institutional, retail, office, and supermarket buildings. After developing the site, a single building on site was chosen to further develop its relation to the site and overall context. The project was developed at an urban and human scale.
This project was a 4th year project, developed as a group (fall and winter) and individually (spring).
Group members: Evan Kanterman, Nahid Islam, and Martin Weis
Fall term focused on site research and analysis under Professor Simon Tickell, AIA.
Winter term focused on site development and planning under Professor Eleanor Sharpe, AICP, LEED AP.
Spring term focused on a single building design and development under Professor Martha Cross, AICP, PP, LEED AP.
