COMMUNITY EVENTS MARCH – SEPTEMBER MARCH 4 – Magic Workshop with Rick Eugene For Teens and Preteens in grades 6-12, the workshop will show you how to perform your own magic tricks! 14 – Babysitting Basics Help your child be a great babysitter by expanding their skills and confidence to provide safe and responsible care when asked to babysit. Designed for students in fifth grade and above, this course teaches basic first aid, caring for infants and young children, meal preparation, and child development. Upon completion of the course, your child will receive a Babysitting Basics Certificate. Cost of the program includes lunch as well as some babysitting essential items. 21 – PreK Art Nurture your child’s inner artistic curiosity as they explore various art techniques, media and creative experimentation during each class. Possibilities include: acrylic, mixed media, watercolor, sculpture, collage, and more. Projects will be engaging and may focus on seasonal themes, beginning art fundamentals, a particular media or just plain messy. Come to create together and leave the clean up to us! 22 – Landscaping for a More Sustainable Backyard Before making spring landscaping plans, come attend an informational session about sustainable landscaping practices to use in your own backyard. Jennifer Welch from Polk Soil and Water Conservation District will discuss how to incorporate Best Management Practices (BMPs) to landscape your home. Topics will include native plantings, rainwater harvesting, and ways to improve turf grass areas and increase habitats of pollinators. The City of Pleasant Hill’s Storm Water Coordinator, Chris Widmer will provide information about the City’s current storm water management program, the storm water utility, and updates to the

22 – Walk Pleasant Hill Exercise feels less like exercise when it's a social event! Join us once a month and walk Pleasant Hill. We will have a new route monthly and walk 1 to 2 miles. As we walk, we will stop at participating businesses and discover what Pleasant Hill has to offer! Participants will collect swag to take home!
