Welcome to PLC Theatre’s production of The Wizard of Oz!
The story of a young girl swept away from her quiet life in Kansas to a land of technicolour wonder is one that has been told around campfires, in books, on screen, and, of course, on stage. As Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Lion travel down the Yellow Brick Road, we are reminded that stepping out into the unknown is often how we discover who we truly are. It is in traveling away that we learn about our own resilience, empathy, and strength—and ultimately, come to understand the true value of home.
Bringing the magnificent world of Oz to life on our stage has been a living, breathing process. It is a work built by those of us who find our second home in the PAC—the passionate students and staff who thrive on stage and backstage. While we owe a special thanks to our
Maintenance department for their vital work on set construction, it is the dedication, energy, and artistic grit of our core theatre community that truly makes this show work.
A production of this scale relies on an exceptional team, and I am deeply grateful to everyone who has shared in this journey. First and foremost, my immense thanks go to my wonderful core team, Ms Bowman and Mr Daly. Their huge amount of hard work, constant guidance, and creative support throughout this entire process have been absolutely foundational to this show. Continuing to work alongside us are the invaluable Ms Thomson and Mrs Hall—it is such a reassurance knowing everything backstage is running so smoothly in their capable hands.
We are also delighted to welcome Ms Essex as our Musical Director this year, and it has been a true pleasure to collaborate with her as she guides our cast through this iconic score.
A huge, heartfelt thank you goes to our Drama Captain, Tess PhillipsWilliams, who has been an incredible pillar of strength and joy throughout this entire journey. Tess has gone far above and beyond in her role—serving as an invaluable mentor to our younger performers, tirelessly keeping our large chorus organised, bringing incredible fun and spirit through our dress-up days, and offering constant support, warmth, and leadership every single day. We simply couldn't have done it without her!
Our movement on stage has been brilliantly transformed thanks to our support choreography team. Led by Melanie Zhu, alongside Kahlia George, Emily Zhi and Eva Russell, these talented students have not only created original movement for themselves, but have dedicated countless hours to running sectionals, teaching the chorus, and polishing the routines until every number shines.
Behind the scenes, our incredible Stage Manager, Alyssa Mark, has once again proven invaluable in running the show with absolute precision and poise. Ably supported by her 2IC, Hannah, Alyssa has done an extraordinary job not only keeping every cog turning backstage, but also generously mentoring our younger crew members along the way.
This journey down the Yellow Brick Road embodies the values we hold dear at PLC—integrity, empathy, courage, delight, and service. It has called on our students to be Scholars with discipline, Thinkers with creative insight, Citizens supporting their fellow ensemble members, Advocates expressing themselves boldly, and Leaders working collaboratively to realise a shared vision.
Thank you for joining us. We hope you enjoy the journey, delight in the adventure, and take comfort in the timeless reminder that while traveling teaches us who we are, there truly is no place like home.
