Provides material aid in the form of low-cost grocery items for individuals and families in financial distress. Free fresh fruit, vegetables and bread are also available.

Fred’s Van Meal Service

We can provide a meal, blankets, toiletries, snacks, hot beverages and most importantly, companionship. People are under no obligation to pay for the meals or goods provided, but we do encourage people to stay and chat as a Fred’s Van community.

Heart & Soul Group

We are dedicated to assisting individuals facing food insecurity by providing a complimentary online service that delivers essential food packages, inclusive of fruits, vegetables, and bakery items.

Cost: Free, although there is a nominal $15 delivery fee associated with each online order.

Delivery schedule: Northern Suburbs every Tuesday. Orders must be placed by 12 pm on Monday.

Healthy Food Co

The Healthy Food Co. provides low-cost nutritional food products and grocery items to the whole community at reasonable prices. We offer Easy Meal kits that feed a family of 4 for under $14.50 per kit.

Anglicare – Emergency Assistance

We provide relief through the provision of food, pharmacy vouchers (for prescribed medication), blankets and other linen. Please note our phone line will close when capacity has been reached for the day.

Salvation Army Playford Corps

Each year, thousands of Australians seek help from The Salvation Army for daily expenses and unexpected bills. We provide immediate crisis support and work to address long-term economic issues. Our Doorways program collaborates with Moneycare to offer financial counselling and prevention strategies to help individuals regain control of their finances and avoid hardship.

ADRA Community Pantry

ADRA – Adventist Development and Relief Agency runs a community food pantry to provide food directly to local residents or families affected by food insecurity. Some food is free or priced lower than cost price.

Metropolitan Youth Health, Elizabeth

We offer a range of free and confidential clinical health services to vulnerable young people aged 12–25, with a focus on young people under 18 years.

We provide a therapeutic trauma responsive health service covering the following areas:

• Health assessments, screening and management of general medical issues (we run Nurse/Midwife and Dr led clinics at our sites and at various outreach locations)

• Antenatal and postnatal care

• Sexual health (including screening, pap smears, contraception advice and emergency contraception) and education

• Immunisation and health education

Programs for pregnant and parenting young people and their partners, including:

• health care, education, training and career pathways

• educational case management and group activities

Hands of Hope Foundation

The Foundation seeks to practically help survivors of family and domestic violence, by providing crisis support and emergency relief services.

Hands of Hope provides a wide range of services to our clients

• Emergency food relief

• Housing assistance, such as relocation and donated furniture delivery

• Vouchers for food, goods and services

• Support, referrals, mentoring and workshops.

Connect Me (app)

The ‘Connect Me’ app is an initiative of the Northern Adelaide Mental Health Alliance to provide community with contact information for mental health and related support services across the northern suburbs. The app uses a directory and map format to provide a userfriendly experience with quick access to service provider details.

The app can be downloaded free from Apple’s App Store or Android Apps on GooglePlay, search for ‘Connect Me Service Directory’.

Ask Izzy (online)

Ask Izzy is a website that connects people in need with housing, a meal, money help, family violence support, counselling and much more. It is free and anonymous, with thousands of services listed across Australia.

And if you’re on the Telstra or Vodafone mobile networks, you can access Ask Izzy on your phone even if you don’t have credit or access to wifi.

Safe Pets Safe Families

We work with people and pets in crises to improve outcomes and reduce the occurrence of surrender, animal abuse, neglect and euthanasia.

Our Paws & Pals program provides much needed support to displaced members of our community such as those experiencing homelessness. Paws & Pals removes barriers for the homeless and their pets by running outreach support services to pet owners sleeping rough, as well as pop up vet clinics where their pets can receive essential health care.

Other programs offered by Safe Pets Safe Families include Safe Pets

Foster – for a small weekly charity contribution fee, our Safe Pets Foster program provides emergency foster care for up to 12 weeks for pets of people experiencing domestic violence, homelessness, mental illness, or a medical emergency.

Homeless Connect

A 24/7 state-wide telephone service for anyone experiencing homelessness in South Australia. Available anytime as a free call to help you find information and a direct referral into homelessness services.

• Connect you with relevant services and information to help in your current situation

• Short-term assistance until you can be connected to a specialist homelessness service

• Referrals to specialist services including Domestic Violence and Aboriginal Family Violence services, youth services and mental health support

SA Dental

Homeless & Oral Health Program

The Homelessness and Oral Health Program (HOHP) provides participating homelessness support agencies with a simple referral pathway for eligible clients to access priority general and emergency dental care, including denture care. There are no out-of-pocket costs for clients referred through the HOHP.

To be eligible for the HOHP clients need to be:

• Homeless or at risk of homelessness

• 18 years or over

• Holder of a current Centrelink Concession Card

Rent Rights

RentRight SA offers a free, independent housing advice and advocacy service to help individuals sustain tenancies in various housing types, supported by the Government of South Australia and SA Housing Authority. Their Tenancy Advisors provide guidance on housing options, leases, bond queries, property maintenance, rent arrears, living expenses, and concession eligibility.

The Vinnies Women’s Crisis Centre

The Vinnies Women’s Crisis Centre provides all meals and serviced rooms, together with kitchen, laundry and computer facilities for guests’ use, and a children’s play room. Assistance with transport, childminding and other practical services are provided when possible, together with in-house access to St Vincent de Paul Society services, including clothing and other assistance.

Location: As many of the centre guests have fled domestic and family violence, the location of the centre is not disclosed for safety reasons.

Free mobile washing machine and dryer service.

Support is available for people with immediate and acute financial needs, such as emergency accommodation, food and travel assistance.

The following are examples of the types of Emergency Relief assistance that we can provide to people in acute need:

• Transport vouchers and bus tickets;

• Support to access accommodation;

• Advocacy to negotiate with power, water and other utilities companies;

• Material help such as food hampers or clothing, occasionally food or clothing vouchers;

• Toiletries and personal hygiene items;

• Providing brokering or referral to other services to help to address underlying causes of financial crisis e.g.: financial counselling.

• All of our emergency relief support is dependent on the number of items such as vouchers, tickets etc that we have available.

Muna Paiendi

Muna Paiendi comprises of a culturally safe, primary health service available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and all services are delivered free of charge. Services include but are not limited to health checks, allied health services, immunisation and wellbeing support/programs.

Adelaide North West Homeless Alliance

Our Homelessness Services work closely with you on your journey out of homelessness, with support, advice and advocacy. We are committed to providing support and services to young people, Aboriginal people, adults and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness, helping you find and maintain housing, get case management support that meets your needs, and other services that will get you living independently.

We provide both hot and cold meals as well as fresh fruit & veg, bakery, dairy, pantry, cereals, toiletries, tea & coffee, plus clothing & footwear. This is all supplied free of charge.

The Vinnies Men’s Crisis Centre

The Vinnies Men’s Crisis Centre offers short-term emergency accommodation for men experiencing homelessness. We provide nutritional, tasty evening meals and light breakfast, showers and toiletries in a safe, supported and welcoming environment.

Share the Dignity

Free period products for women, girls and those who menstruate who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, domestic violence or poverty via the Dignity Vending Machine.

Playford Community Fund

The Playford Community Fund fulfils a special role in the delivery of emergency relief.

Our Support Services include:

• Emergency Food Relief

• Bill Pay (assistance with utilities accounts etc. this is on a individual basis after review)

• Some additional services may be available for residents of the City of Playford Council area.

We are also able to refer clients to other agencies to assist with:

• Domestic Violence

• Family Crisis

• Housing

• Alcohol and/or other drug problems
